I had a really great Rheumatologist who was with Optumâs Colorado Center for Arthritis and Osteoporosis, which had several clinics in the greater Denver area. Optum is closing every single one of the CCAO clinics, leaving a lot of people without a rheumatologist.
They said itâs to make healthcare more affordable but if thereâs no doctors, itâs not more affordable, itâs less accessible.
How evil does Optum have to be to do this to so many people and doctors? My opinion is - 100% evil.

This review is directed to Optum leadership regarding care provided through its affiliated network, including Southwest Medical Associates.
My mother received care within this system during a critical period in 2024, and our experience raises serious concerns about care coordination, follow-up, and clinical oversight within an integrated care model.
By March 2024, a pulmonary nodule had been identified and was known within the care network. Despite this, there was no meaningful coordination between providers, no sense of urgency, and no structured effort to ensure timely evaluation or monitoring of a clinically significant finding.
Over the following months, her condition declined. She experienced repeated falls, instability, and worsening symptoms, yet care remained fragmented across providers rather than coordinated as a unified system.
There were also concerns regarding medication management and lack of appropriate monitoring in the presence of known risks.
An integrated system is expected to connect information, providers, and decision-making. In this case, those systems failed.
Her condition ultimately progressed, and she passed away.
This matter has been formally documented and raised through appropriate channels, with a detailed record of events.
Optum promotes coordinated, patient-centered care. Experiences like this raise serious concerns about how those systems function in practice when patients need them most.

If I could use a negative star I would . This is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with! I called and made a payment over the phone with my debit card and at NO time did I authorize them to put my card number on file. Suddenly, I look on my bank statement and see where they have been charging my card without my authorization and like I said, I didnât even know she had put it on file. I was told it was a one time card authorization. Now I find out they have put my card on file and are charging it whenever they get good and ready to do so.

I am a retired IBM employee and Optum is supposed to reimburse me a fixed sum monthly. This monthly cost is provided by IBM. I have attempted to work with Optum since this past December to start receiving my 2026 monthly allowance and I have provided all paperwork requested. Your processes are ridiculous
Your processes are ridiculous. When using your card at a Chiropractor, most times every visit is accepted, then due to the assistant adding a surcharge for card usage, they deny the claim. What could I possibly be purchasing at a Chiropractor besides treatment. They have to realize that there was an error by the vendor, but they want me to follow up with receipts and services rendered. All this aggravation for a $1.20. Ridiculous.. Now my FHA card is suspended until I provide the necessary documentation. I would advise everyone to put your money into a high interest savings account, where you can do whatever, you want with your money, instead of these HSA or FHA.
These hospitals do not provide detail information when they provide you with a receipt. Normally, it will state hospital visit (Ex. Stonybrook Hospital) $100, which is a copay. This company wants detailed information on pre-surgical visits. What procedure are you receiving, who is providing it and description of procedure. IT'S A PRESUGICAL EXAMINATION!! GEEZ

The lady who visited our house.
The lady who visited our house was named Patty (I think). We live in Dallas Oregon and she visited us yesterday (January 9th). I can only say she was a breath of fresh air in this damaged world we live in. She was funny, intuitive, and "no holds barred" committed to our health and welfare. Better than most of the doctors I/we have seen in the last few years. We didn't want her to leave......Please send her back next year.

My mother uses optum and they gave her a number to call for her prescription refill, when she called I overheard her giving out her checking account info and some personal info (to a person who didnât speak english very well) before I said no more. Her bank account was hacked two days later and thankfully shut down after processing one bogus âtestâ check. Now they are sending her bills and getting her to pay before her medicare is done processing them, so weâre now trying to recoup payments that were supposed to be covered.

Optum is horrible. They continue to cancel even reputable in-network health insurance companies as well as Medicare in the PNW. Everett clinic and Seattle Poly clinic were bought by Optum. Since hundreds of thousands have had to find doctors elsewhere.

Also, they take no cash and I canât message my cardiologist anymore. Yesterday(11/17/25) I spent 30 minutes attempting to contact a doctor's office for an appt., to no avail. Today (11/18) 95 minutes of my time was wasted before success was achieved. All the time listening to horrendous music. I have a concussion diagnosed at the hospital. I need to see the neurologist because I am having issued. My appointment is for 2/2/1926. How is that great personal care. This summer I had a rash on my back, Urgent Care did not correct the issue so I made an appt. with my dermatologist. Earliest appt. was October 6th. By the time I saw the doctor the rash was gone.
All of the medical staff is great but the quality of your operation in running the facility doesn't even rate an F-! Our time is also valuable, and you should not be so thoughtless in wasting it. More to the point if I need a doctor today an appt. in 2 months is useless. Show the care you espouse to have.
