Amazing care fabulous nurses and surgeons was second to none

I had my surgery here and all the staff from entering the building are amazing! I especially want to thank Miss Darrien and her team for doing my surgery and to Irma- the nurse who looked after me on nights. Definitely recommend here and will be back for further surgeries.

Staff were all super helpful and informative . Very professional through out and could not do enough for me .

As I sit here and write this. I can categorically say that phoenix health have destroyed my life.

After an initial surgery of a mini gastric bypass with phoenix health led me to have severe complications that hindered my life and health hugely, phoenix agreed to ‘fix’ my surgery ‘free of charge’ as a ‘good will gesture’ after months of living in adult nappies, erosive gastritis and chronic vomiting; this was over a year until they offered me this surgery to help me which meant all of this damage could have been prevented if sorted sooner

After the surgery where they switched it from a mini gastric bypass to a gastric sleeve, I woke up after 6 and a half hours from a surgery that was meant to last just 90 minutes. My family had phoned the hospital multiple times as they were getting increasingly concerned about how much time had lapsed but when I woke up apparently everything went ‘totally fine’ and ‘normal’. What was the additional 5 hours for then? I will add I am traumatised to this day about the pain I experienced after this surgery and the moment I woke up. All I will say was it was indescribable and thank god for those wonderful nurses on the ward in the hospital those days I was in.

Following on from this I was on anti sickness for weeks, I was told this wasn’t normal to need them for this long; but phoenix continued to help me get anti sickness prescribed from my gp as I couldn’t keep anything down. I informed phoenix the months after that I could not make a transition to soft or normal foods as normal and I just couldn’t swallow without it coming back up, fully formed and my surgeon reassured me that everyone is different and to give it more time and to listen to my body - which I did. More months went by and everything I ate I regurgitated. By this point phoenix had tried to discharge me; which the nhs wrote to them and said they can not do this and they’re liable for me. But by this point due to all the stress I had encountered and the lack of trust I had in phoenix, I rejected any further correspondence and ‘help’ from them which they pathetically offered me after they’d tried to palm me off just THREE MONTHS after surgery, conveniently just after my last free phone call with the surgeon who told me to ‘give things more time’

To cut a long story short, after over a year of gruelling tests and referrals, I have been diagnosed with ineffective eosophegeal dysmotility, my eosophegeas is 100% ineffective, basically paralysed, the only way that food or liquid reaches my tummy is gravity; and let me tell you, it’s agony and I regurgitate pretty much everything. I have (diagnosed) severe reflux, oesophagitis and a hiatal hernia. I am prescribed liquid medications as it’s all I can tolerate, ensure drinks to try and help me get the calories and nutrition I need on a day to day basis, I have had to have iron infusions done intravenously.

Since this surgery I have attempted suicide 3 times and this has all been from the stress since that surgery, one of which I woke up on the resuscitation ward. I can no longer work, there is NO CURE for my illness, my illness could lead to Barrett’s oesophagus in the future (cancer) and my NHS surgeon is reluctant to operate to help even my reflux as it’s so close to the nerves in my oesophagus it could lead me to never swallow again. They’re extremely reluctant to operate on me due to all of my existing diagnosed issues

I’ve sought medical opinions from lead gastroenterologists and they have said (in writing) that the surgery phoenix did on me was ‘bizarre’ and nobody could understand why they’d do that on me.

I regurgitate food and cry and rock in agony up to 30 times a day, I avoid eating, some days I can’t even get hydrated, the social isolation is mentally agonising and I have days where I feel like surrendering to a feeding tube. Taking medication can take hours and there’s no guarantee it’ll stay in me.

Now I have gone through all the pain, suffering, lack of dignity, loss and mental and physical trauma of tests and accepting what my future looks like - I have sought legal advice with a no win no fee claim, I will not stop until I get some sort of justice or compensation from the very people who should be held accountable for my LIFE. I used to be independent, I had an incredible job and now I’m on PIP and universal credit with an incurable life long debilitating health condition

I lost all the weight I wanted - but if you’re one of the 1% where it does go wrong and you do get complications, I ask, please re think when choosing phoenix, as I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. I’m shaking writing this review. But I won’t let them win! I can send any proof and more about my experience. From arriving to leaving the staff was attentive caring everything aboyt my care was explained in full detail would definiatly recomend

The surgeon was very professional. He spoke to me in a professional manner and he talked me through the whole process. However the nurses. Who looked after me on Monday during the day made me feel awful. I was in quite a lot of pain. I had hardly any sleep. I felt like I was being judged because I wasn't paying for the surgery. I tried to talk to the nurse because I had overheard the other nurse. Saying things underneath her breath and tutting underneath her breath as she left my room. I felt pain in my hand when medication was going through the canula. They told me if it was still hurting to let them know in 5 minutes. I did this and they said I had to wait longer. It was the last dose so if she took it out they would have to put another in. So I kept quiet. The three nurses would see me walking down the corridor and smirk at each other. Also I had to wait hours for my pain relief and I had to ask about my food because nothing that I ordered in the afternoon was there on time and I felt hungry.

I have been with Phoenix for a number of years now. Had my original bypass then because of severe reflux had the Roux En Y. The staff could not do any more for you if they tried. From the reception staff to the nurses to the surgeon's. I mainly speak to Claire Parkes who has helped me so much and Suzanne Tankard who has also been brilliant. Recently I had a small procedure done and I have been dealing with Mr Stuart who put my mind at ease. It makes such a difference knowing that when you ring Phoenix you are treated with respect and helpfulness. They are amazing.

The hospital was amazing I would highly recommend all the staff was amazing got me everything I needed and made me comfortable after my surgery very clean and fantastic rooms
And all made me feel welcome 5 star hospital

Amazing care, staff and hospital. Mr Stewart even contacted me before my operation. Anesethist was so calming and reassuring. My nurse Ina was amazing, friendly, caring and compassionate. All the staff i came into contact with where extremely professional. Hospital is so clean. Well managed. Pity the NHS cant be managed the same with the same values. Thank you.

My procedure went really well at The Pines surgeons & staff went above & beyond in my care they looked after me really well very clean bathroom & ward it was a pleasant stay

Fantastic staff. Everyone is so helpful and friendly and made me feel really comfortable talking about every aspect of the treatment I was getting.
Reception staff are well knowledgeable and happy to talk about their experiences.

After bariatric surgery in Electiva hospital, I was very well looked after, everyone was kind and attentive and kept me fully informed, having been a nurse myself for 52 years I fully understand what patients need after surgery and I received all the care I needed and more

Where do I start phoenix Health have been amazing from the start. Just arrived home from having a mini gastric bypass surgery. Wow the Pines hospital is amazing from the receptionist to the nurse's cleaners and doctors. You are all special people. Thank you so much as I now start my journey

Just home after having a mini bypass. Everyone from the receptionist, cleaners health care assistants and nurses were all wonderful. Couldn’t do enough for you. I have never had my bloods taken as quick and easy as they were, not a bruise in sight. Everyone wanting to make you as comfortable as possible. Martha was wonderful when I was stressed before going for surgery trying to keep me calm and telling me to breath. I would recommend to anyone I can talk to. Thank you so much. I am now home and healing xx

days do and all the staff are amazing they go above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable and well looked after.
