Avoid Premium Car Buying Service – My Experience

I would strongly advise anyone considering using Premium Car Buying Service to think twice.

I was initially offered £22,000 for my vehicle and was specifically assured there would be no haggling or price reductions on the day, unlike some other car buying companies. Based on this assurance, I booked a collection.

When the buyer, Ruben, arrived with the driver, he thoroughly inspected and test drove my car. He did not identify any mechanical faults during the inspection. However, he then claimed the brake discs were worn and reduced the agreed offer by £1,000.

This came as a complete surprise, as the brake discs and pads had only been replaced a few months earlier and the car had covered very little mileage since. I explained that I was unhappy with such a significant reduction, particularly after accepting their original offer based on their promise that there would be no renegotiation. Ruben suggested I take some time to think about it and contact them if I changed my mind.

The following day, needing a quick sale, I reluctantly agreed to proceed. I was then informed by their colleague, Ellie, that they would deduct a further £200 simply because they had to return to collect the vehicle. At that point, I completely lost confidence in the company.

Instead, I contacted Motorway, who listed my car for auction the very same day. The highest bid came in at £22,500—£1,700 more than Premium Car Buying Service’s revised offer. A few days later, Motorway’s collection driver carried out a thorough inspection of the vehicle and found no issues whatsoever, including with the brake discs. The sale went through exactly as agreed, with no attempts to renegotiate the price.

Based on my experience, I believe the deductions made by Premium Car Buying Service were unjustified. I intend to raise my concerns with Trading Standards, as I feel their pricing practices should be investigated.

If you’re selling your car, I’d recommend using established and reputable companies such as Motorway or We Buy Any Car instead. My experience with Premium Car Buying Service was disappointing from start to finish, and I would not use them again or recommend them to anyone.

Premium Car Buying Service was very good to deal with. Abs was our contact and he was extremely friendly, professional and thorough. It was a quick transaction and although we ended up getting less than previously offered after inspection, it was still worth the deal. Highly recommended using PCBS and Abs. We may also look to using these guys to find us another car too!

Contacted the company to sell a vehicle due to a family emergency, they made an offer, after submitting all the info, after trying to get more info and waiting, they turned around and said they will not be buying, based on their offer, i already made some commitments.

They turned up and proceeded to give the car what can only be described as a full forensic investigation. I was half expecting them to dust it for fingerprints and ask where I was on the night of the 12th! 😂

To be fair, they were just doing their job, and they were both friendly and professional throughout. They explained they were only the middlemen, so they could only offer what they were authorised to pay.

VW had already offered me £27,000. I asked for £29,000, and they came back with £28,500. At that point, I grabbed the money and ran! 💸

The whole process took a little longer than I’d hoped, but everything was straightforward, hassle-free, and exactly as promised.

Thanks again to Alan and Reuben great guys and a great company. I’d happily use them again.

By the time we collected our car, it genuinely felt as though we were saying goodbye to old friends rather than leaving a dealership.

If this is the standard of customer service at PCBS, they should be incredibly proud. A huge thank you to Jade and Finn for making what can often be a stressful experience such an enjoyable one. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend both them and PCBS to anyone looking for a quality car and exceptional customer service.
