Protool is a family-run supplier of precision cutting tools, based at Wrotham in Kent and independent of any single manufacturer. We hold stock across milling, turning, threading, hole making, toolholding, deburring, measuring and work holding. That means solid carbide and indexable end mills, slitting saws, corner rounding and chamfer cutters, ISO turning and Swiss line inserts, parting and grooving tools, thread mills, taps and dies, wire thread inserts and repair kits, HSS and carbide drills, reamers, spade drills and micro drills, collets and VDI holders, carbide burrs and zero-flute deburring tools, gauges and styli, vices, chucks and live centres. Storage cabinets and CNC workbench systems too, alongside the everyday items — silver steel, hand files, oil skimmers, magnetics. Brands we stock include Carmex, Widin, Nicon, Europa Tools, Vortex, OSG, Palbit, Toolex, JBO, Baer, Asimeto, Tschorn, Axis Micro, ITP and Polstore. Carmex Tiny Tools covers threading, turning and grooving at small-bore sizes most catalogues stop short of. Most of our customers are precision engineering firms machining for aerospace, medical and Formula 1, where a tool has to hold tolerance in titanium, Inconel or hardened steel and a scrapped part costs far more than the insert did. We also sell to one-man shops, toolrooms, maintenance departments and one-off buyers. There is no minimum order — a single insert is a perfectly good order. Orders placed before 4:30pm ship the same day from stock at Wrotham. Delivery is free next day on orders over £50 ex VAT. Trade accounts carry 30-day credit terms for qualifying businesses, with tiered pricing once the quantities justify it. Independent means we aren't working through one manufacturer's catalogue. If a tool is wrong for your material, your machine or your setup, we'll say so and tell you what we'd run instead. Call 01732 887 334 — ten minutes on the phone beats the wrong tool in the post.

Ordered a turning tool L/Hand showing…
Ordered a turning tool L/Hand showing in stock, for immediate dispatch. So ordered after the welcome e-mail I received a not in stock your order will be delayed.
Left it for a couple of days customer services replied saying another week unless you want an alternative that we have in stock. Dispatched and received all ok.
Kellie was a great help.

Customer Service as it should be.
Ordered a small metric tap to clear out threads on a bespoke 1986 race bicycle. It arrived very promptly and I then realised it wasn’t the flat ended tap which was needed to clear a blind hole. Contacted Customer Services who investigated and despite the fact that it was probably due to my ordering mistake the replacement was provided without charge. Amazing Customer Service. Such a shame that not all Companies have Customer Services to this standard.

Not next day. Goods not idea. Disinterest.
I bought a a cutter with next day delivery. It arrived late. When I enquired about when it would arrive I was told they would investigate and implied the postage maybe refunded. Oddly I then got charged twice for delivery (was corrected by accounts). I never got a refund for postage. No huge issue.
I understand next day services are not always next day and there policy is not to issue refunds for postage.
However the cutter arrived with something on the shaft. Sort of plastic blob on a small section. It was hard to remove and wouldn't come of with solvents.
I phoned about this but they seemed disinterested.
So yea not too happy with the service or the products.

I know you have been in direct contact with our team who have addressed these issues with you directly and I am sorry you feel these have not been resolved to your full satisfaction. It is always our intention to make sure our customers are full satisfied, and any issues fully resolved.
LATE DELIVERY - As previously explained, with regards to the delivery arriving late there was an accident on the local motorway and the driver was unable to make the connection to the hub which resulted in everybody’s orders being delayed. I am sure you appreciate that these are exceptional circumstances beyond both our control and the couriers, with all the best will in the world I am sure you will agree due to the reason for the delay that next day delivery was not possible in this instance. Our courier worked very hard to resolve the lateness of our parcels and I can see your parcel did reach you at 11.35am on the next available working day, I am sure you understand why we would not offer a refund on carriage in this instance, we don’t have a policy not to refund carriage we simply deal with each case on its merit.
DELIVERY CHARGE - As you paid for your order in advance I can see you were not actually charged twice for delivery, but you are quite correct, your invoice did indeed show an additional delivery charge, this was generated purely in error but was resolved immediately when you reported this to us and we thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Our colleague did indeed take on board your concerns over the “plastic blob” on the tool holder, after seeing the photograph you sent over to us we believed it to be cutting paste, we advised that this should be easy to scrape off but that if you had any further concerns and were not able to remove it to please come back to us and let us know, when you didn’t come back to us we assumed all was good and it had all come off. Unfortunately, as we were not aware there was still an issue we could obviously not further assist you. Please feel free to reach out to our team if you still need assistance.
Please be assured that customer satisfaction is always our top priority and we always want our customers to have a positive buying experience with us. I am sorry you feel we let you down on this occasion but please always be assured of our best intentions.

I am a brass musical instrument maker and although most of my work involves hand tools, on occasion I require machine reamers, etc to compete a project.
I initially ordered an 'odd sized' straight fluted reamer, This was made specifically for me. This arrived within a couple of days!! Fantastic!! Except when it arrived, I realised that I had ordered the wrong size. DOH!!
I therefore called Protool Ltd to explain the fact. (I kept the reamer, as I knew I could use it on another project...!)
After ordering the second item, to my amazement it arrived early the following day!! But to top that, Protool Ltd found me an equivalent cheaper option from their own web site to help me out. Absolutely amazing!!
I can't recommend Protool Ltd highly enough, for their lovely knowledgeable staff and efforts to provide an excellent service.

Product fault…
I was not very happy when you supplied 2off om32951 tapping collets they would not tight up .your people said they wear alright .I’ve been in the game for 40 xxxxxxx years and they are not right : your place says send them back ( at my cost ) when it’s not my fault.the cost of them is minimal so the are still sitting on my desk.your people said it could be the holders funny thing I bought them from you.more than anything I was reporting it as there may have had a back batch .regards Steven rogers Hacs engineering

I have had a look into this for you, and can see that you ordered 2 of our tapping collets back in July, and reported that they were faulty. We did speak to the manufacturer of the collets and they assured us they were all fully inspected and would not be faulty. We did ask for you to return these items to us (at your cost) so we could send them back to the supplier for further inspection and so we could arrange to get some replacements out to you.
Please be assured if they were found to be faulty we would have arranged a full credit, including original costs & the return delivery cost. You would only have had to pay this return delivery cost, if the collets were found not to be faulty.
Unfortunately these items were never received back so we were unable to bring this issue to a full resolution for you.
I hope this helps for future orders & I am very sorry for any inconvenience this caused.
