I purchased a Librem 5 and waited for almost 2 years and it never came. They kept pushing back the delivery date and making excuses that sounded reasonable at first. But when you dig into their history, they were full of trouble even before the pandemic. I gave them a second chance and purchase the USA version of the phone just to try it out. Boy, I was stupid to buy into their lies yet again. It came defective with a faulty mic and a shoddy camera. I send it back the very next day for repair and it took them over a month to reply back to me. By then, I was fed up and demanded a refund so I can just move on with my life.

But it get WORSE. They told me I would have to wait for potentially months to get my refund. And they have no idea when I will get my money back, despite the fact that I have already send back the product! See the pattern here? They hold my $2000+ hostage and never deliver on their promises. Instead of taking bank loans for capital that they needed, they have fake news induced crowdfunding.

I wish I encountered this website sooner because my time and money was WASTED on this two-face LYING corporation. Support Free software and hardware movements else where like Pine64 System76, FairPhone etc. But don't give your precious time and money to Purism.

Don't believe me? I had to talk to Mladen Pejakovic for customer service. I felt mistreated for months.

Purism is an UNPROFESSIONAL, UNETHICAL, and UNAMERICAN corporation. If you want to get mistreated, be my guest. Otherwise, be smart and learn from me. Avoid them completely! I sincerely hope any one mistreated by them is done right and that this company goes out of business.

Scam. Payed, never got phone and they refused to refund me.

I'm still waiting my phone after 16 months ago I ordered.
Don't trust them.

Just some updates on Purism for anyone else who has been burnt.

You can contact most of their head of staffs on Linkedin, including their CEO Todd Weaver.

I am also contacting the IRS as I suspect they are trading insolvently, and an investigation needs to be started. I would highly suggest anyone else out there burnt, start contact their staff via LinkedIn, and the CEO's email is todd.weaver at puri.sm

Purism are blatant liars, thieves and con artists.

You pre-order a product with only "a few months lead time", and a year+ later you are still waiting and have lost close to $3k.

When you ask how long the product will be, they tell you maybe another year or two. This was not advertised. (Also by the time that happens the product will be superseded and out of date with the new tech).

When you ask for a refund, at first they tell you yes and they have forwarded to accounts. After the 6th time asking (over about one week between emails so 6+ weeks), they go silent.

AVOID THIS COMPANY I SUSPECT THEY ARE ABOUT TO GO UNDER AND ARE TRADING INSOLVENTLY

DO NOT GET BURNT!

I tried to buy a laptop from Purism. Shipping estimate was 2 months, which was fine. 4 months later and it still hadn't shipped, and there was no word from Purism on what was going wrong or when it might ship.

So I tried to cancel my order and get a refund. They said my order was canceled and that I would get my refund in a few weeks. Weeks came and went and the refund never came. Every time I asked it was always "a few weeks" away. This was a problem as it was too late to do a charge back on my credit card. I thought I had lost all my money.

After about 4 months and raising as much hell as I could, I finally did get a refund, which I never really expected to get.

This was the worst experience I've ever had buying any product, online or in person. I would never try and buy something from Purism again.

I had backed up a crowdfunding project for the Librem 5. The building process should have taken 2 years, it took 4 years. Minimal updates, constant excuses, long time promises of delivering it that didn’t come true.
When I finally was I about to get I’m told I need to pay over 200€ more!
So i reject it and asked for a refund. 6 months later i haven’t received it, nor a single update.
They have stolen from me 600$!

I bought a Purism laptop before the pandemic and had it delivered outside the US. It seemed to work as promised. I subscribed to their Librem One service when I purchased the item. This was a secondary machine for work that I ended up using very infrequently. After booting up the laptop on maybe 12 occasions for short use durations over the course of 18 months, the bottom metal exterior broke apart. The laptop still works but the bottom is literally falling off and the mechanism for opening the screen has also broken, so the screen isn't firmly in place. It is shockingly poor build quality for the price point. I never expected the laptop to start falling apart after occasional light use. But at this point, I was not about to pay even more to send it back to the US for repairs. Around that time, I was auto-billed for the Librem One service in December 2021, for the year 2022. In fact, I had only used the VPN portion of the service only twice, and it only worked once. I exchanged emails with a dour support staffer named Mladen Pejaković requesting a refund, explaining that I didn't use the service often enough and that it didn't reliably work. He gave me an extremely difficult time and didn't clearly answer my questions or acknowledge my requests. He initially refused the refund, but then offered a compromise. He said I would only be billed for January 2022 but compensated for the other 11 months if I canceled the service manually (which I had asked him to do on my behalf). So I did. My refund has yet to be issued as of February 15, 2022. All Mladen can say is that he'll check with his financial department. Overall, this was absolutely terrible experience from beginning to end. Purism is one of the most unprofessional companies I've ever made a major purchase from. Avoid them completely.

They forgot to let me know my order would be delayed significantly, and as the original deadline came and went I decided to contact them. I spent the next year (during the pandemic) trying to convince them not to steal my money. Fortunately I eventually got the refund after them telling me numerous times they wouldn't. If you want a niche Linux device that doesn't destroy a year of your life, buy from Pine64, they actually care about the community! They also offer support and will gladly get back to you! No run-around needed

I order a laptop with all the promised security features and secure delivery back in April 2021. The cost in excess of $3,300.00 which I was willing to pay because of the bespoke nature of the product. Unfortunately 6 months later I have not received the product or a refund. I have been extremely patient and when finally I gave up and asked the company for a refund I was dismissed with a short email saying it is being dealt with.

To date they have not refunded my money and Purism had the cheek to send emails asking me to invest in the company. I have never been so poorly treated and will make sure my colleagues are aware of this scam company.

I don’t expect I will receive my money back .

Paid $2800 in April 2021 for a pre-order Librem 14 (allegedly still under construction). The online presence of the company and recommendations from folk who appeared to know their stuff caused me to trust Purism. I was initially very happy to support an upcoming business with what seemed to be an ethical standpoint. 5 months and several emails later, I still have no computer and my $2800 is still with them. I have had 3 emails from the company offering me 'investment opportunities' to add insult to injury! Over the last four months, they have given repeated excuses and appalling service, only making contact when I chase my order. When I asked them for a full refund at the end of June (my laptop was supposed to have been shipped in May according to the information given to me when I placed the order!) I was told that their 'policy' was that no refunds could be given until my order reached the 'shipping' stage - so that enough funds were available for 'batches could be manufactured'. No accurate details of when that 'shipping' stage would happen were given. I feel 'held to ransom' honestly!!! Finally, the 'shipping' email came at the end of July - promising delivery in around 10 days time. A month later, and still nothing had arrived. September now - and I have again asked for a refund and have now been reduced to threatening legal action. Perhaps they are simply the most disorganised and unprofessional company ever..... or perhaps they have had some genuine difficulties - but I can ill afford to lose that much money as is the case for most of us :0( Steer well clear my friends. Lets hope that Purism can sort their act out ASAP as any company behaving this way will have no customers very soon. I hope that I have not been scammed, but in good faith, cannot recommend this company to anyone. Be very careful.

Bought myself a refurb 13" Librem laptop back in April 2020 with international shipping to Europe. Came a couple weeks later. Really great product, happy so far!

I have had very similar experiences to the six earlier reviewers. I paid $3022 USD / £2177.52 for a Purism laptop on 8th May 2021. After receiving a receipt for the order, I didn't receive any communications from Purism for well over a month. I asked for a refund, in accordance with their stated refund policy, and was told by two of their employees I would receive the refund within two weeks and approximately 4 weeks respectively. After later asking for an update, I was told, by one of the same two initial Purism representatives, the refund wouldn't be paid until week beginning 16th August 2021. I emailed Purism's PR department and didn't receive a reply. I emailed the HR department and didn't receive a reply. I emailed one of the first two Purism correspondents to ask for contact email addresses and/or telephone numbers for the company owners and/or directors. I received a return email, from the first Purism company correspondent, saying the correspondent had forwarded "this email" to his/her manager. I haven't heard from them since and it's now nearly three months since I paid for Purism's allegedly available laptop product. I concur with the earlier six reviewers - Purism seems to be a terrible company/business and I advise any potential customers to think very carefully before paying any money to them for their allegedly available laptop computers. It's absolutely astonishing a business with a highly visible online profile and with reasonable product reviews on well-regarded tech review companies' websites is operating in this manner. Personally, I would never consider using Purism's allegedly available laptop supply services again.

I ordered back in February of this year (2021). As others have stated, I believe this is an elaborate scam to defraud customers. Their sight gives you a 10 - 60 day lead time… but this is not true. You can expect excuses, continual delays, changes in policy in an attempt to delay complaints. I fully expect that one day their website will go offline and they will take the money and run… assuming they ever had an operation to begin with.

Misrepresented my purchase as a product in production shipping within months (Q3 2019). Reality was that the product did not exist and not functioning prototypes further delayed completion of my order.

Then they seem to think they can -CHANGE THEIR REFUND TERMS AFTER THE FACT. Amazing - "Money back at any time" becomes "You will get you money back if and when we manage to produce a working product"

I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, for what that is worth, and will continue to publicize their business practices until they are held accountable.

Do not do give them your money, they think you are stupid. If you do business with them they would be right.

At this point, I feel that I have been scammed out of $2000. I would stay away from this company until you see some positive reviews here.

This company is stealing money from customer by selling them something they dont even have ready

8 month now I expect to receive my laptop

I comment their video of unboxing on youtube warning other customer for not beiing scammed, and they keep deleting my comment to hide it.

So I would like to write the 1rst review on this company

They take your money providing fake informations saying that your product purchased will be send early Q4, and at they don't want to refund you when they plan to ship it in December.
They re definitely scammer, they currently stole me 1400USD and don't want to refund me, I NEVER accept to wait till December
