I have been trying to open a cash ISA with them. Not an enjoyable experience. Their competitors offer a slick up-to-date process, not something from the 20th century.
Far from clear whether my application had gone through so I sent them an email. No response to that. So I later phoned them. On hold for 15 minutes before hanging up. Had another go at emailing them - still waiting for a response. ￌ

Saffron is always unfailingly helpful. Today, Caroline was very good when I wanted to change an old issue savings account to the latest issue with a better rate. Many savings providers make you do a complicated open a new account, transfer the money online, close the old account - all doing it online yourself in several stages. Cannot withdraw and staff not helping
I gave my maturity instructions and I have been messaging the bank for several days now but there is apparently no way I can access funds from my 'instant access' account now my savings have matured. Things go wrong but staff attitude when they do is a measure of the business. My experience has been very poor.

I have used the Saffron Building Society for a number of years. I have always found their savings products competitive and their website easy to operate. I was very pleased to leaen The Saffron offer a loyalty bond, for customers who have stuck with them. Its very refreshing as many financial institutions offer their best rates to new customers only and not their long standing ones.

Saffron BS apologised for incorrectly failing to report interest to HMRC on a couple of savers. They investigated, identified, and gave me a written response that included all the necessary information. They did so pretty quick too, which is pretty important given deadline for self-assessment is 31.01.26! Taking ownership is to their credit. I can't give 5 stars ... it was a Saffron error after all; but very happy to award 4 and keep using this mutual, with increased confidence that problems are effectively sorted out in the future.
