Difficult to recommend based on my experience.

Walking and transportation element well organised.

Overall the whole operation felt inflexible. The walking could easily have completed in 5 hours but approximately 10-12 hours was set aside for this everyday and at times it felt like there were more breaks than walking in order that we did not reach checkpoints too early.

5 out of 7 of our group without special dietary requirements who ate meals on the trek suffered from diarrhoea and vomiting with the same symptom onset time immediately after the trek, which is highly suggestive of a common source food poisoning outbreak from a meal in the 72 hours preceding symptom onset (i.e. consumed during the trek).

The option to explore Machu Picchu independently would have been appreciated.

A fantastic company for trekking, They were super organised and informative from start to finish and made everything very easy. The accommodation is luxurious for camping and the food is great - all their staff and interaction's we had were professional and helpful.

La experiencia con el grupo y el guia fue buenísima pero las gestiones de Yuri han sido pésimas. La empresa se centra demasiado en los beneficios. Me cobraron la entrada a Waynapichu sabiendo que estaba cerrada, ya que nada más hacer el pago me informaron de que la montaña estaba cerrada. Además, al hacer el pago con tarjeta o paypal me cobraron un porcentaje extra que tuve que asumir ademas de la cantidad de la entrada. He tenido que estar encima de ellos para que me hicieran la devolución, en lugar de hacerla de manera automática. La devolución me la querían hacer en metálico, en lugar de por transferencia y en dolares, cuando mi moneda es el euro y perdería aun mas dinero con el cambio. Para compensarlo, no me cobraron el alquiler de unos bastones, pero he tardado 1 mes en recibir la devolución y he recibido menos cantidad de la que debería porque no han asumido los gastos de la transacción de Paypal. A pesar de que la experiencia alli fue muy buena, que miren tanto el dinero y no cuiden a los clientes en ese aspecto no les beneficia. Por otro lado, estuvimos sin luz en dos de los tres campamentos. Aceptamos que son cosas que pueden pasar, pero podría haber sido otro de los motivos por los que reclamar y no lo hicimos por no perjudicar a la empresa, pero visto el trato recibido deberíamos haberlo hecho. Si cobran lo que cobran, deberían garantizar los servicios que ofrecen, ya que hay empresas que ofrecen los mismos servicios por mucho menos precio y sin engañar a los clientes por los servicios ofrecidos

I did the Ausangate 4-day trek and it was amazing! The team of Salkantay trekking was professional. The guide had a lot of knowledge about the environment, history, culture and traditions, so I learned a lot while enjoying beautiful nature. The cooks prepared us the most delicious meals! The only thing is that there was a lot of food. Less would have been enough as well. The horsemen treated the horses well and brought our belongings safely to the next campsite. The materials they used for camping were also very good and the hot water bottle every night before going to sleep was a nice surprise. All together a great experience!

Very knowledgable tour guide

We had the most amazing days on the trek! We’ve been travelling around South America for over seven weeks, and the days on the trek have definitely been the highlight! I’ve done a lot of mountain tours with guides, and I can say without a doubt: our guide Carlos was the best I’ve ever had! He was truly caring and full of incredible knowledge. Even when it was raining heavily, Carlos managed to keep everyone’s spirits high!

Juan Carlos was our guide for the five days and was honestly the best tour guide I’ve ever had on any travel experience. He was fun, supportive, and incredibly knowledgeable about nature and Inca / Peruvian history. He made our group feel like a family and every day feel like an amazing adventure.

Our guide, Broly, was incredibly passionate, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic throughout the entire Inca Trail experience. Everything was thoughtfully planned and paced just right, making the journey both enjoyable and smooth. The hike itself was breathtaking, but what truly made it special was Broly's insightful explanations—his stories and knowledge added so much meaning to the stunning sites we visited. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide to experience this unforgettable adventure with!

We had the most amazing 5-day trekking with our tourguide Henrry. He shared some stories on the way and was very knowledgeable. We felt like we lucked out with him! His colleague Joseph joined later and was fantastic as well. We always felt safe, even though sometimes we'd struggle because of the lack of oxygen. Would highly recommend going with this company!

One of the best experiences ever! Erik our guide was more than just a guide but part of the family now. Erik was very experienced and helpful including the support stuff , while showing us a good time on this more than difficult trekk.

Marco from Salkantay Trekking was an exceptional tour guide. He went above and beyond our expectations helping as someone in the group got elevation sickness. He did everything that he could to help with his expertise and make the individual feel more comfortable. The icing on the cake was when he took us to the hot tub expo afterwards. I would suggest for anyone to ask for Marco when using Salkantay tours, he’s the best.
Marcos knowledge and expertise pertaining to the tour as well as added information was top tier. He communicated everything well in English, kept everything entertaining, he kept the tour exciting and even cracked many jokes along the way. He’s overall a great guy and exceptional tour guide.
