I would firstly warn you not to use this company as I have never come across a company as dishonest but in the unfortunate circumstance that you have used them and they are trying to deny you your consumer rights then make sure you don’t allow them to get away with it. They will try to say you agreed to their unfair policies on purchasing the items but please know your rights. Consumers are not allowed to have policies that deny you your consumer rights even if written into their policies. They will try to say you had to let them know about damage within 24 hours - utter rubbish. You have A LOT longer in law. They will try to say if you have attached legs you can’t now ask for a replacement- utter rubbish. Your rights are not changed by you assembling any item. They will say you need original packaging - utter rubbish, your rights are you do not need original packaging if an item arrived damaged or was of poor quality. They will try to charge you original postage costs or charges - utter rubbish, distance selling laws prevent them from doing this. It’s very easy to raise a chargeback through your bank, if this is denied (unlikely) then raise a section 75 through your bank, very easy to do. If this fails (which is almost impossible) then fill out an online small claims case (money claims) which is also really easy to do and the company will be forced to pay your filing cost of £25. Don’t let them get away with it. We bought a whole furniture set and the dressing table was missing a part of the cheap wood veneer they use on their furniture. We asked for this one piece to be replaced but they would not so we raised a chargeback through our bank for the whole set. We showed the bank the emails and they agreed the retailer is breaking the law on denying refunds. They will try to reply to this review with lies like I’ve seen below. They use every excuse like “you’ve used it”. Don’t let them fool you. Know your rights.
EDIT to reply to below comment from Chic Interiors. See I did say they would try to reply with dishonesty. The items were delivered just before Christmas when most people including us were busy and the retailer closed. Non of the items were “assembled” (they came already built) or “used” as the retailer says and as you can see on below reviews they say this every time to try and deny you your legal rights. As soon as we unboxed the items and noticed the damage we straight away let the retailer know that the dressing table was damaged. As they are admitting below at this point they tried to say that because their policy is 48 hours they would not replace it. Anyone reading please remember this is AGAINST THE LAW. The retailer is not allowed to change your statutory rights and impose their own terms and conditions. By law you have a lot longer than 24/48 hours. Simply raise a chargeback, a section 75 or a small claims court. All very easy to do. The retailer will even make your job easy by admitting that they are refusing to replace due to it being over 48 hours and the banks and courts know this is illegal so you easily get your money back.

Ordered a pair of bedside tables and white ginger jar 2 days before Christmas hoping they would arrive before the big day and they did so so happy, super fast delivery and great service 🙌🏻

My partner and I ordered a large round mirror with a square edged slim black surround (SKU 20818). There were multiple images with various angles showing the frame on the mirror being a flat band of metal (estimated at 3-4mm). We received a similar mirror with a wide rounded section 25mm wide. The mirror and frame looks to match a cheaper mirror sold on the site. Upon notifying shabby chic and vintage we had received the wrong mirror, we received an initial response stating the mirror was the correct mirror and the images on their website were correct. In addition they stated the web site listed the mirrors depth at 4cm which they stated was the frame's width. Further photo evidence, references to all other listings using the defined meaning of 'depth' and the oxford dictionary definition of depth did have some impact. A new angle of justification was then started ignoring all evidence and insisting the difference between their website images (3 off at multiple angles) and the received mirror was the angle of the images. No satisfactory resolution was offered apart from our paying £80 cost for returning the mirror (made up of £40 delivery + £40 return fee's).

Update post Shabby Chic & Vintage reply: Your reply does not surprise and continues to hide behind anything close to an excuse. Of course the mirror frame is curved, it's on a round mirror and doesn't have corners but the frame is not described as having a rounded edge or, most importantly, as pictured. The images clearly show another mirror and there is no disclaimer saying the image isn't as pictured. The received mirror matches the design for your product 20499 which is silver and 60cm priced at £39. It is accepted this is not the same size or colour as listed but this is 100% the same design.
The underlying issue is the refusal to admit that we don't have the mirror we ordered /as advertised so you can charge us to return. I wish we'd read this site before we purchased as your tactic of charging £80 for your own mistakes is evidently your standard. procedure and supported by your terms and conditions.

Further update: I've now had to send a further proof of purchase screenshot to trustpilot to stop the Shabby Chic from removing this review.

I ordered a large mirror for our living room, and cannot be any happier with it. It's stunning ! I get so many compliments on it. Price was very competitive. My mirror was well packaged to avoid any breakeages. Customer service is excellent. I would highly recommend this company.

I bought the Monte Carlo beside cabinets, arrived within good time and look great! So pleased with them as they really completed the look of our new bedroom! The company even called me to make sure I used the protective stoppers on assembly as per the instructions as to not break the mirrors which really was going the extra mile in my opinion! I would really recommend!

Avoid avoid Monte Carlo cabinets style mirrored units they have a large notice on when arriving giving you instructions how to stick the glass knobs on I’m guessing this is to deny any liability of the crap they’re serving for £300 a unit had them out of the Box 5 minutes and 1 of them was cracked on the drawers the next morning when we woke my side had a crack on one drawer this is really rubbish stuff at expensive prices it’s also not all glass it’s silver painted and very patchy and dull in parts I’m guessing that’s what there explain in the antique bit. (Rubbish paint job ) stay away from this company they sell rubbish I WOULD Not BOTHER CONTACTING THEM about THIS MATTER. AS WHEN YOU READ THER REPLYS THEY HAVE THERE BACKSIDES WELL AND TRULY COVERED THIS IS Not NORMAL TO Spend 600 pounds for 2 Montecarlo bedside cabinets and you have them five minutes and they’re broken we did follow their shabby chic instructions it clearly didn’t work so every day we look at these from now on and know what crap this company sell. Can’t wait for the stern reply and blame. Culture reply of the very nice ladies that answers the phone when she’s taking your money Stay away. There now advertised as seconds and that’s what they are. If you have a conscience send to more out or send some new drawer fronts I won’t hold my breath. Thanks for your reply. It no more then I expected. I had no phone call from you. Not like other people. I can read between the lines it’s pointless telling you anything as you would not help anyone as your not that sort of company. Don’t get my experience. Go elsewhere

So happy with my mirror, purchased a very similar mirror from another company and the detail was awful so returned it. The detail on my mirror from Shabby Chic is stunning and just as described. They have some lovely items will be purchasing again soon!

I ordered a mirror as a gift so I did not open it to inspect it until just before I decided to wrap it. It had been damaged in transit but even though I hadn’t inspected it within the required 48 hours of delivery, the company changed it with no fuss and the replacement arrived (undamaged) very quickly. Although it wasn’t their fault, the service was really great (I had expected a problem for not adhering to the inspection rules). The product itself is lovely and a great price. Would thoroughly recommend.

Worst experience ever! Quick overview:

- took 5months to receive refund on expensive faulty item

- they tried telling me I was only entitled to exchange when I had to advise my consumer rights

- the worst customer service ever
*rude
*un helpful
*never answer the phone (only answer half way through a voicemail if anyone does want to speak to them)
*lied to me regarding their couriers services and made out as if I was lying when I done my own digging asking for proof of who I spoke to and telling me their is no such person.

It took 5months to return the faulty item as they kept telling me their couriers were not doing collections due to pandemic. (Fair enough)
They Then advised I needed to take it to the depot office myself as they accept drop offs only and not home collections.
I spent HOURS on the phone back and forth as after I spoke to my closest courier depot to ask for closing times they informed me they were not accepting people turning up to drop off and it was home collections only. I told the shabby store this and they was making out as if I was lying and told me they spoke to a manger at their branch and their was no such person of who I mentioned. They nearly caused me a wasted 36mile round trip and said they had to book in and it definitely was drop offs only. They was pushy for me to pick a date and I had to go and drop it off even though I was trying to tell them different.
I ended up back and forth so much the poor depot company got so frustrated with the situation they had to write me an email to show shabby I can not return this item myself to the depot and that shabby needed to arrange collection to my house. They also advised in the email someone from shabby did speak to someone at another branch who told them they wanted to arrange for a drop off as I asked to drop it off to depot as I was never home!( So they purposely was trying to make it hard for me and cover their tracks.)
Finally the depot rung up shabby and arrange my collection.

From reading other reviews I now need to check I received the full refund and I wasn’t charged for the deliveries.

They have some lovely things and I have bought quite happily from them before. I bought a mirror I wanted to return. The mirror looked nothing like the one on the website and the wings of the mirror were not level. They accepted no liability and I had to return at my own cost. The cheap couriers like hermes do not insure fragile items like mirrors (which they recommended) so I had to return with Royal Mail which cost me £16. They said it was as described in description but the website photo was a different shade and I was not happy with errors. They refused to accept return at their cost.

A long story, but basically I ordered a large mirror, which the website said I would have to wait at least a month for. I ordered, but changed my mind and wrote to cancel the next day. No reply. I wrote again, then phoned. I was told that the mirror had 'gone into production' the VERY NEXT DAY after I'd ordered it so my order could not be cancelled. All I could do was wait for it to come and if I didn't like it, send it back. It came, was not the same colour as the website pictures, so I emailed to ask if I could return the mirror. Not using Paypal I had to send a bank draft of £45 for the company to collect it. I waited 2 weeks for the cost of the mirror to be refunded - which of course took chasing emails. When I was refunded they took out a further £45 for the original transportation costs to me....and still kept the £5 of original shipping costs I paid. Through the whole process they were slow in responding or didn't respond, leaving me to continually chase them. Their attitude was dismissive and unhelpful. I am nearly £100 out of pocket for ordering something I tried to cancel almost immediately. I didn't read all the terms and conditions, as most people don't when they buy online, and I literally have paid the price. The company does not want returns and they make it virtually impossible to return items by making you pay a lot of money for both lots of shipping, and by employing a slow unhelpful communication style. I'm sure that if you bought something from this company that you liked you would have positive reviews, but if you want to cancel or return something you will enter a world of pain. My advice would be to make sure you definitely want to buy something from this company, because returning will cost you a fortune.
