The biggest limiting factor is theâŠ
The biggest limiting factor is the battery life. We get a day at best of battery life before the collars run out of power.
Not the greatest thing for a livestock guardian dog or any dog that works and lives in the NH interface.
The geofencing is easy to use and each collar can have its own geofence, which is really nice.

Basset Hound proof!
We purchased a SpotOn collar for our 5 month old Basset Hound puppy, honestly with low expectations, after returning several other GPS fence collars. Boy have we been surprised! The fence line accuracy is really "spot-on" and the warning zone alerts work great. Our little guy ran through the fence one time and never again! We love the mobility of it and being able to set up fences when we visit friends, etc.

SpotOn led to Vet Bills
I was initially thrilled with our SpotOn collarsâthey worked wonderfully early on. Then one day, I removed my dogâs collar and discovered that her neck, fur, and the inside of the collar were saturated with an odorless, oily substance. She also had several wounds on her neck.
I took her to the vet the next day. The vet described her injuries as significant and consistent with chemical burns. She required four medications daily for a month, and the veterinary bills were substantial.
We are now outside the 90-day return window and cannot return the collars, but weâre afraid to put them back on our dogs. What started as a product we loved has become a deeply upsetting experience, and we no longer feel confident using the collars safely.

Two years of reliability for $1000
Worked okay for two years (once you got used to the battery life and âidiosyncrasiesâ of the app and the collar). When using it, you get the feeling that youâre paying iPhone money for a device that is Walmart Android quality. But you tell yourself itâs great cause you paid $1k for it.
After working fine for two years, my GPS started glitching without notifying me. Said my dog ran to Africa overnight (presumably shocking her) and allowed her to escape several times without warning her or notifying me.
I suspect the company will respond to this review talking about how GPS can have interference from clouds and cell phone service depends on location and blah blah blah. But my iPhone Iâm using seems pretty darn reliable. We have the technology folks, but this level of reliable technology is not used in this thousand dollar dog collar.
I suspect that whatever GPS collar you buy will be a little fiddly, but if that is the case, my recommendation is to buy something more affordable. That way you wonât be burned as badly as I was.

Josie took to the training very well
Josie took to the training very well. Didât take more than a couple of days training on a long leash then went to a 50â cord. Now she is off leash completely. Had some trouble getting my map setup, ( only because of the acreage was high). Spoke to customer service and got it straightened out. The dogs don't even test the fence line anymore. They learned it pretty fast.

not impressed with the fact that when we go to a different location that we have a virtual fence that we have to link up to it every time. the biggest thing is that the EXPENSIVE collar won't alert the dog when it leaves the fence. For the cost it should automatically link to set up virtual fences and alert the DOG to go home that it left the fence.

When you move to a different location, you must deactivate the currently loaded fence before activating the new fence when you arrive at the next location. To do so, you must be within 30 feet of the collar and connected to Bluetooth, and reccomned to change the fence before letting the dog out of the car; that way, they are always automatically secured when getting out.
Weâd also like to clarify that the collar does alert your dog as they approach the boundary, and they should receive two tones. One ten feet before the edge and the second five feet before the edge. If your dog isn't receiving these warnings, weâd be happy to review the collar and settings with you to make sure everything is working as intended, and to provide troubleshooting or warranty options if needed.
