Poor collar battery life ...
The battery life of the collar is sub-par in my opinion. If we're traveling to a new destination (via car), the charge depletes rapidly. The fence size requirements are too strict to activate a boundary. 1/4 acre would be more ideal for VRBO rentals, etc.

We have a dog with a very strong prey drive and when he gives chase to something he can be more than a mile or two away and gone for hours! Since getting the collar dialed in to the right setting, we have not had a single breakout and it has been over a year!! (the dog has breached the fence line multiple times chasing something but he is back in under five seconds) Spot on staff were great at giving us guidance over the phone to ensure we were successful. We live in an area with a pretty thick tree canopy, we do not have problems with satellite at all! Multiple fence options make it so easy; especially when we are out of town and the dog is with the sitter!

Pretty good
For the most part I like the two Spot on collars we have for our dogs, but they can be glitchy sometimes giving me error messages about not having cell signal (when the dog is standing next to me in the yard). Also there have been times when I've checked to see where my dog is on our property only to discover that he is outside of the fence, even though I did not receive any warning notice. They are pretty good, but not great.

Great customer service
Great customer service. I love how easy it is to set up at my parents' house and in-laws. We can bring our dog to family gatherings and not worry about his whereabouts. Since we introduced them to SpotOn, two of my brothers have set up the fence for their own dogs, and I love that we can join their network.
It doesn't prevent my dog from occasionally chasing the neighbor's cat, but I can easily track him when he escapes.
The collar is durable and easy to use. Charging it every night is critical, and we've made that a part of our bedtime routine.

Disappointed with GPS accuracy- update
Disappointed with the accuracy of the GPS fence Iines. I have a one acre lot with some mature trees. The signal significantly drifts in multiple places along the fence line and will go directly to vibration without the advance warning sounds. Have not used the e-shock capability due to this issue.
Update: after discussion with SpotOn customer support the accuracy issue appears to be resolved. Support person was helpful in resolving the problem in a timely manner.

SpotOn has been great for my escape artist in controlling boundaries that work for me. I have set another boundary at our local dog park as both dogs needed socialization skills and it has worked beautifully. Training videos have been immensely useful as well. My biggest dilemma is that with another dog, who is not an escape artist, but does go beyond the boundaries could be a potential risk. Iâd like to purchase another Nova for him, but the price is currently too high to justify.

I purchased the Nova collar when my PWDâŠ
I purchased the Nova collar when my PWD pup was 6 months old and opted for the 2 year connection pack which enables quick tracking and personal voice commands to be transmitted through the collar to your dog. We have an acre lot that backs up to a wooded area and a large retention pond.
We live in North Florida, so ponds can foster snakes which makes them off limits for swimming dogs. I used a 30', long line "recall" leash twice a day, over a 2 week period, to train my puppy where the boundaries of the Geo Fence would be. This, I believe, is a critical element to successful deployment of the GPS collar and makes the learning process for your dog so much quicker.
Our pup has now worn the collar for 4 months and it has worked pretty much flawlessly, but we have had a couple of "false corrections" when our pup has been in the house and collar thinks he is staging a "break out", which is a little crazy. But other than that, it has worked great. I've built a number of a "fences" around friends and relative's houses, so our pup can really go anywhere and be contained in a protected area.
A couple of notes;
1. At a $1,000, make no mistake, this collar is a tool and a big investment. Don't think for a moment that you can just draw a boundary around your property, slap the collar on and let your dog go. You need to teach your dog where the limits are before deploying.
2. I wish there was an easy way to turn off/on the collar from your cell phone. I sometimes forget that my pup is wearing the collar and I'll throw him in the car, head down the driveway when I hear the first alert on his collar go off and I have to slam on the brakes and remove the collar before he gets shocked.
3. Building precise GeoFences on your phone with old man hands and fat fingers can be challenging.
