I purchased a Dolomite Sprint from here in January. The car was advertised as a 1980 UK produced and registered car. Shortly after purchase it was pointed out to me that the car had LHD wipers. After purchasing a Heritage Certificate and contacting some previous UK owners it turned out the car was in fact a 1978 French exported car. The car returned to the UK in 1980 and was converted to RHD rather poorly. The car was then re-sold by Bonhams as I was completely dissatisfied. It was sold by with an honest description this time and sold for a lot less than what I paid. Unfortunately I was left to stand the £5,000 + loss for my honesty. Don't rely on an HPI report and don't trust Bonhams, not even they do basic due diligence. The previous owner denies any knowledge even though he is no stranger to the marque, a specialist in other words. For anyone who is interested both the January 2023 sale and June 2023 can still be found on The Market by Bonhams website. Be warned!
Thank for your reply. The car was falsely advertised. It wasn't what you described. I re-sold the car with you for this reason as I felt there was no alternative. The car was then sold with a completely honest description and a full report from a specialist. I lost over £5k for being honest. Do Bonhams think that is fair and ethical?

This is the first Trustpilot review I've ever written. I'd like to thank Mark Livesey for sticking with us when circumstances beyond Bonhams' strict control left us without a buyer post auction. Mark took personal and direct action to rectify the situation. It is just vanishingly rare that companies back their customers in this fashion. Reputations are earned when things are tough, rather than simple. That builds trust and deserves loyalty and I have no doubt we'll be back.

In my experience most companies are fine to deal with when everything goes smoothly. It is when things go wrong that you see the difference between a good business and a bad one. Bonhams were not just good they were great. They did everything they possibly could to help me. I would like to thank Mark Livesey in particular for dedicating a significant amount of time to this and repeatedly going above and beyond my expectations to help. I would not hesitate to recommend them. They deserve more than 5 stars and If I was able to give them 6 stars I would !!!

From initial discussions to final sale the Bonhams Team consistently provided an excellent and friendly service.

They demonstrated tremendous knowledge of the market and managed the whole sale process really efficiently.

Excellent communication from the outset by Paul Hegarty which proved to be great advice on how to best sell my Aston Martin.
