Richard Fink and his Throga technique completely changed the trajectory of my career. He helped me improve tenfold in the years he was my coach, and better than that, he taught me how to analyse my own abilities and tweak things myself.

I would say Richard is the best vocal coach I ever had, and to this day, I still use the tools he taught me and the 7 dimensions of singing.

I started out training with Throga, not understanding notes or how to use my voice to create music. He believes that anyone can learn to sing, and i am living proof.

We would start our classes with the vocal gym and finish them with singing. The vocal gym exercises, were fun and always changing. Like a gym, i started seeing improvement in a few months. He focused on different aspects of the vocal ability; Range, strength, accuracy of pitch were a few of them that i’m paraphrasing here.

I find myself humming the exercises as i commute to open up my voice even when readying to speak to different folks or when i lose my voice at a loud bar.

It’s really quite profound that i lose my voice at a bar, and can re invigorate it by doing the exercises which release the swollen vocal cords.

Richard has done his research and is committed to helping people discover their true voice and capabilities.

I think it would be highly beneficial to give his book and online course a try. And if one has the resources, his personal sessions are outstanding.

The Vocal Gym and Throga technique offers well-designed exercises that are easy to follow and can result in noticeable improvements. The instructors are knowledgeable and supportive, making the program a great choice for anyone looking to improve their singing skills or maintain good vocal health. This review is long overdue, and it's so important to share our powerful experience with Throga, Richard Fink IV, Johnny Cummings, Sam Polizzi, and the rest of the team! Our daughter attended the Throga music retreat at the age of 8, and she walked away with loving memories, as well as practical and critical tools that are still part of her vocal routine today. She also collaborated with Johnny and Sam, utilizing the Throga platform when writing, recording, and releasing three original songs that were dedicated to kids and teens who struggle with their emotions. Throga has a huge place in our hearts and we highly recommend exploring their menu and learning from Richard and the talented team.

Our daughter had wanted to sing since she was small and when she continued to pursue her craft we knew we needed to find her a vocal coach. After weeks of research we found Richard and she began implementing his techniques. That was over 4 years ago. Richard's vocal coaching was second to none! After a 24 year absence from singing professionally, I needed to get ready for a reunion. Richard's Vocal Gym was truly the only way I was able to ready to perform.

Richard Fink IV has been our daughter's vocal coach since July 2019. Richard is truly an exceptional coach. He combines vocal science and a highly organized methodology (outlined in his '7 Dimensions of Singing' book) with a genuinely kind, caring, flexible and supportive approach. By building trust with his clients, he gives them a safe environment to develop their singing ability while also building their confidence to perform as a vocalist. At age 16 our daughter has successfully performed in several musicals, choruses, and has achieved nearly perfect scores as a vocal soloist in 2 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) competitions. Richard Fink IV has been instrumental in all of these vocal accomplishments. I am confident she is performing at this level at this age because she is under Richard's tutelage.

A few years back I had vocal surgery to remove a granuloma on my vocal cords. After the surgery it was difficult to even talk. Richard took the time to understand what was happening with my voice and helped me to not only talk again but sing again! I highly recommend throga!

I’ve made tremendous improvement as a vocalist under the tutelage of Richard Fink IV. His book, 7 Dimensions of Singing The Throga Technique, is a comprehensive guide to understanding and improving your voice. The 7 dimensions are outlined in an accessible manner and explored from anatomical and practical perspectives. This holistic approach has deepened my connection to my voice and empowered me as a vocalist.
The online “Vocal Gym” exercises continue to provide new challenges and opportunities for growth. More specifically, they provide the means to develop individual dimensions and in turn, find new ways to express myself as a vocalist and artist. I've been singing my whole life and have been through a few vocal instructors. While I appreciated each of them, I never went back more than a couple of times. Richard Fink IV as a coach is quite different. The way he explains things, really gets to know YOUR individual voice, and teaches you how to maintain a healthy, functional voice is everything.
Understanding why and how we do the things we do is really important to growing. While dealing with allergies and acid reflux, using the techniques that The Vocal Gym has presented to me has made singing, playing shows, and even speaking easier. I'm really grateful to Richard for his knowledge and expertise. I'd recommend him to all singers, professional speakers and just anyone who wants to grow vocally in a healthy and consistent manner.

Really good way to learn to sing and improve my voice. I had a really bad voice before when I was embarrassed to sign in front of anyone. Now I have the confidence to sing at public open mic nights.

Practical, flexible and personable. Having taken lessons from Rich in person, it was incredible to me how this platform is the next best thing. It’s so great to find a program that properly teaches about the voice and it’s use by relating the physiology of the voice to its practice and techniques! Understanding the basics of how the voice works physically really unlocks a new way of thinking about singing! Breaking down everything into “The 7 dimensions of singing” is super helpful in pinpointing what exactly to work on and then having the Vocal Gym to show you exactly how exercises are done and provide clear instruction is just fantastic. Plus Richard Fink IV who coaches you through the program keeps things really interesting with anecdotes and just explains everything so clearly. I’ve seen a lot of good and bad courses provided both online and at institutes and this is easily one of the best for getting to grips with how a real singer can use their voice to its potential! Definitely recommend!

My daughter began lessons with Throga during the pandemic. The virtual format allowed her to continue her musical growth in isolation. She learned great techniques and became more confident as a singer. She was moved into varsity choir as a 7th grader and landed a role in her school musical this year.
The virtual format of Throga lessons allows us to continue lessons even when we are traveling.
We were able to choose from a variety of instructors to find a good fit for my daughters’s personality and desired results as a singer. Communication with our instructor and the scheduling coordinator was easy. I highly recommend the Throga team!
