Incompetent
Incompetent, three failed appointments to fit 4 tires on my car. On all occasions they arrived with the incorrect tires and a mix of run flats and standard tires.
They have not got a clue what they are doing. Avoid this company at all costs. Save yourself the stress go else where.
HALFORDS CAN FIT TYRES UP TO 5 YEARS FROM MANUFACTURE
WARNING - Halfords can fit tyres to your vehicle up to 5 years old. We had tyres fitted to our caravan in 2024, to find out last year when we had the caravan serviced they were manufactured 3 years previously when fitted, tyres need to be changed when 5 years old. Despite several weeks of trying to get something done about it, their Customer Service is useless. Their policy is they can fit tyres up to 5 years from manufacture. AVOID

battery issue sorted

Locking Wheel Nut Removal
After reading the confident description of being able to remove any locking wheel nut i contacted the company to arrange a booking. After being told the next bookings were not available until 29th December (which would have been fine) I got told actually just go to the "Autocentre" which i thought was my local halfords garage. When I asked for more details I was told the "autocentre" is any garage and they'll have a special tool. So pleased I spoke to this genius as I would never have thought of this. If you cannot supply a specific service than do not advertise it!

Appointment cancelled 2hrs before time booked and this was a Friday afternoon so I will guess why the real reason was for cancellation. No effort to make up for the inconvenience by prioritising me, the next available was a 48hr wait. I then had to chase the refund 8 days later it still hadnt arrived and hadnt been triggered and will now be with me in a further 3-5 days. So nearly 2 weeks for a refund. Went to Kwik Fit instead, this business was great until Halfords bought it. Never again.
What a shocker from a company I haveâŠ
What a shocker from a company I have always trusted. I originally booked a Monday evening slot to have two rear tyres replaced. The slot was a two-hour window, so I planned my evening around being there; however, no one turned up, the tracking system didnât work, and no one called me.
I called the customer service team the following morning, and they said âyeh they didnât make itâ and âsorry we canât do anything for 48 hoursâ. Frustrated, I rebooked instead of cancelling and booking with a local garage, and waited two days for them to finally turn up.
When they arrived, the technician was friendly and had previously replaced my fronts. I left him to it, thinking he would finish within half an hour. Five minutes later, he knocked on the door and said, "We have a problem." It turns out they had sent a van with a tyre fitter too small for the tyres they brought to fit. He mentioned he raised this when loading up, and his boss said it would be fine. He said he could fit them but would need to turn the wheels on the machine, which could scratch the inside of the expensive alloy wheels. I responded, "No, please just refit the wheels," and told him I would cancel the order.
Now I have to wait 5-7 days for a refund, and I am now going out of my way to get the work done locally.
One loyal customer gone!
Pure incompetence
Ordered a pair of tyres because I needed them before a long journey; given a time of 8am to 8pm. Stayed at home all day; technician arrived at 6pm. He tore one of the tyres trying to get it on, and then put the original tyre back on because he said he couldnât do the job. He also said heâd send someone the next day, but he didnât, so I had to call to rearrange, but was given a time of three days later which was unacceptable. So I had no choice but to cancel, but the refund would take five days. In the meantime, I had to find a garage, take time out of my day. and pay for new tyres before getting a refund, so Iâm out of pocket twice. On top of all this, the technician dumped a load of rubber all over my drive. Ever since these guys became part of Halfords, the standards have massively dropped. A complete waste of two days. Iâll never use these guys again.
Awful
Fitter turned up, told me he couldnât remove a nut so couldnât complete the job. Itâs been marked as âcompleteâ by the fitter on their system, and Halfords are uncontactable. Currently £370 out of pocket.

He is a credit to Halfords very polite and professional what else can I say.
2 no shows and 2 wasted days
Original appointment booked for Thursday. They called late afternoon to say there was an incident, and the mechanic couldn't make it, so I begrudgingly rebooked for Saturday, knowing full well I was about to waste my full day sitting around waiting for them. I tried calling 2 times this morning to express my frustration with the rescheduling, and to see if I could get a proper idea of a time slot as they cancelled on me, but I couldn't get through. Now I'm sat here after wasting my entire Saturday sat around waiting and no one turned up. I called to complain, finally got through after waiting 15 minutes and the call center agent just pretended he couldn't hear me and kept putting me on hold.
Absolutely disgusting service and 2 whole days completely wasted. Don't bother, go to Britannia tyres.
Reputable company until Halfords got involved
Use to use tyres on the drive and never had a problem always a timely reputable company. Halfords have taken over and I had my reservations as have had bad experiences with Halfords in general.
Today, after being made to wait in for 12 hours they say, with 30 mins to go they aren't turning up and I have to be the one to rearrange the booking. The technician made no contact I had to call in several times to find out if it was even going to happen and was told it would. Which it didn't. Also noticed at one point (now granted not sure of the reason) but the technician stopped for at least 4 hours on one job and nearly 3 on another. This is according to their online system. Not happy!

Booked a slot for 4 new tyres on a Monday 8-8 waited in all day and get a phone call at 5pm to say fitters not coming, hes been delayed on a job (more like they wanted to go home early).
Needed these tyres before travelling around the country on the Wednesday. Instead of putting us first on the next day they offered Wednesday morning which was no good as we were leaving at 8:30am and they couldn't say it would be done by then. Got offered a refund which we are still waiting for! Nearly £500 which should be refunded straight away and not 3-5 days later. I've had to pay out another £500 at our local garage, who fitted the tyres within 20 minutes. Disgusting service and will never use or recommend ever again!!!!!
No more chances for this lot
I gave up on Halfords Tyres on the Drive a couple of years ago, when their operative completely failed to turn up; citing his inability to find the property and lack of time as a reason. So with that in the past i decided to give them another go, what a mistake that was.
Their operative turned up as expected (early Friday afternoon), and was quite pleasant, so no problem their; however, just after removing my old tyres from my wheels, the machine broke and was no longer able to clamp down the wheels in order to fit the new tyres.
After about an hour of phoning around, the operative stated that he would have to leave and transfer the rest of his work for the day, to another operative, who would then complete my job the following day (Saturday). I accepted that it was no fault of the operative and that i would be happy just as long as somebody was going to arrive the following day to complete the job, i explained that i want somebody to call be that day to confirm this; i had no such call.
Later the same evening, i received an e-mail (job completion receipt) alluding to the job being complete, which it wasn't, i had two wheels with no tyres on them, so i decided to try and call somebody; what a mistake that was.
After tackling Halfords telephone menu i found myself connected to what could only have been an Indian call centre. The line was terrible and I spent ages going through security checks and explaining my problem before being placed on hold for no less than 20 minutes while waiting to be connected to somebody seemingly back in the UK; at no point did anybody thank me for holding and keep me posted on what was going on. Anyway, the person i had been connected to hadn't been passed any of my information so i explained it all again only to be told that he would have to pass me to somebody else. The next person, for some reason, was actually from the National Tyre Service, and told me that there was nothing he could do as i was a Halfords customer, he then passed me back to the Halfords menu system that i had first encountered over half an hour earlier...i was furious, so hung up and just hoped that somebody would actually turn up the following day.
Well Saturday came and went; i have two wheels with no Tyres on them yet Halfords has sent me a customer satisfaction survey. I will only be satisfied when I have had a full refund. I will never use this service again. i am not suggesting that this is the fault of the operative, more likely a failure in managing such situations and terrible customer support.

Wrong Tyres Fitted !
Unfortunately had tyres fitted this morning (by a very helpful and friendly chap), but when I went out just now after he'd left to double check, I find they've fitted the wrong tyres.
They are the right brand and size, but they've used an inferior load rating & speed rating than I had ordered (and below the specification advised by the manufacturer of the car).
I rang them, and they were apologetic on the phone, although I was on the phone for over 20 mins (mostly on hold).
But annoyingly the earliest opportunity they have to come and replace with the tyres I ordered, is in 5 days time - so not ideal.
I'm disappointed that this happened, but appreciate it's probably just simple human error. But I'm especially disappointed to have to take a half day off work next week for this error to be corrected, and more crucially that it couldn't be solved before then !
