Just started but Molly made the whole process easy

Although I have been using this company for a couple of years and 90% of the time had no issues, it is clear that more recently they have been struggling to resolve issues. Today has been a day of terrible service which has cost me time, caused stress and pulled me away from my work. While my employer has reassured me that they processed my payment, Umbrella customer service online can't find the payment. I've been trying to find a way to resolve the issue for 5 hours. I sent an email - silence. I can't get through on the phone line for 3 hours. Online support (3 different people so far) doesn't even show any initiative or interest in trying to figure out where the error (which is currently stopping my money) happened. One said they would ask the account manager to reach out to my agency. Nothing about contacting me or at least including me in the communication, so I have no idea what is going on. We have one hour of work day left before the weekend and all i know is that my money has evaporated and no one seems to care. Horrible service when issues need to be resolved.

Worst umbrella company used so far. I have used giantgroup in past, way better than this company.

this company is very poor over the phone. incompetent staff, looks like trainee people are sitting on customer support desk who have no idea about HMRC taxes and rules.
also access was denied when requested a senior member and the young staff looks like making fun over the phone calls. Never saw this kind of incompetency.

tax calculations were also wrong.
I had a horrible experience with this company. kindly search the market, read reviews before selecting an umbrella company for your contracts. in particular avoid this one.

I contacted Umbrella via the number on the website and got through to A. He asked some questions and explained what Umbrella will do for me and how the process works. He was very informative and explained things in a clear way. As promised, my call was followed up by an email to allow me to progress with registering ready for my work assignment next week. So far my experience has been positive. Long may that continue during the time I'm with them. I had been recommended that I use this particular umbrella company by an old colleague who had used them.

The onboarding was so easy with no hassle. Mollie went far and beyond to explain everything to me. I was so impressed with her professionalism. The whole process took less than 5 minutes.

I used this umbrella company for my first assignment and everything went smoothly enough. However, my latest contract has been a total disaster.
Moving onto the new project was a mess, resulting in a major dispute over my wages and contracted rates. I tried multiple times to get it sorted, but the complete lack of urgency and transparency from their team was shocking.
In the end, I actually had to involve ACAS just to get the money I was owed paid to me. Because of this, I had no choice but to resign and move to a different provider. They seem okay if your setup is 100% straightforward, but the moment there’s a payroll issue, they are completely unprofessional. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere.

After short stints with this umbrella company, I had some queries months later.
Both Alice and Robbie in customer services responded straight away each time, clarifying all that I needed to know and doing so with kindness and patience.
I am grateful for this and happy to recommend this company for those seeking this type of company.

Companies like Umbrella exist to remove the hassle of business administration for people who do not have the means, desire, or fore-knowledge to do it themselves.

But dealing with Umbrella is not smooth.
If the onboarding stops, you must find out and restart it. This takes calls or emails (although emails are answered too slowly)
Payslip queries - calls or emails (see above)
Password change - it is poor
Holiday payments - calls or emails
The chat box is very slowly dealt with and hard to keep track of (it's cheap and poorly built), so one gravitates to the phone
The people have all been very nice but, from the typical wait times, and their slightly panicked tones, you get the feeling they are under-resourced and over-worked.
I have a straight forward question to ask about holiday - that's 45 mins of my Monday gone. What am I paying for?
