There are very sharp, large bone fragments in the ground meat that they package up for our pets to eat. These fragments are large enough to obstruct and puncture soft tissues. If you love your animals enough to buy premium food, I think you love your animals enough for them not to die from internal bleeding. This company will soon go out of business. Don't help them stay around longer.

I am disgusted with the way this company handles customer's issues and how intent they are to deny you refunds you are entitled to. The first order with this company was non eventful. My dog seemed to like the food and all was good. The second order arrived with half of the packages thawed already. I did not feel comfortable using these packages, however, the ones that were still frozen were not tolerated by my dog for some reason. He simply would not eat them. The third delivery was a total disaster. Items arrived frozen, however, upon thawing the first package out which was beef - I was taken back by an absolutely putrid, rotten smell that was so over powering, there was no way I was going to feed that to my dog. I did not feel comfortable feeding any portion of that order to my dog. I contacted Viva Raw about this and must have gone back and forth with them a dozen times. They simply refused to refund me for both orders, insisted I send them pictures of the items in my freezer and even then only refunded me for a portion. It truly is amazing however, seeing other's reviews about virtually the same thing, I certainly do not feel alone. This company is truly unprofessional. I sent them pictures of the packages in my freezer only for them to insist that I take all packages out, lay them flat and take another picture. It's almost as if they wanted to really mess with me and had some kind of inside bet as to how far they could go with it. I filed a chargeback with my bank and have all supporting documentation to back up my claims. Bottom line, I didn't get what I expected, the quality was beyond disgusting and quite frankly, giving any of this garbage to my dog would have posed a significant health hazard. This company really need to get its act together and take a class on conflict resolution.

Extremely disappointed with my experience.
I placed an order for approximately $250 worth of frozen raw pet food. Before the order shipped, I contacted Viva Raw and provided the security gate code for my apartment complex. Viva Raw confirmed that they had received the code and would provide it to the carrier.
Despite this, the carrier did not use the gate code and instead left the shipment on the ground near the community mailboxes adjacent to a busy public street. There are signs posted instructing delivery drivers not to leave packages in that location. As a result, I never received my order.
What disappointed me most was Viva Raw's response. Although they acknowledged that the carrier failed to follow the delivery instructions, they initially offered only a partial store credit. After further discussion, they increased the offer to a 50% refund but refused to provide a full refund or replacement order, even though I never received the product.
I understand that delivery companies sometimes make mistakes. What matters is how a company handles those situations. In my case, I provided the correct access information in advance, Viva Raw confirmed they had it, the delivery was not completed properly, and I was still left responsible for half the loss.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Viva Raw. Customers should be aware that even when delivery instructions are provided and acknowledged, they may still be left without their order and without a full resolution if something goes wrong

Viva Raw has been an absolute nightmare, and I will never order from them again.

On the same day, I was charged twice for the exact same order. When I contacted them, they claimed I had pressed “pay now,” implying that I somehow chose to pay twice for the same order on the same day. That explanation makes no sense and is frankly insulting.

What made this worse is that it was nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone at this company. After repeated attempts with no timely response, I had no choice but to contact my bank to dispute the charges. The bank agreed that the situation warranted a dispute and opened one on my behalf.

Only after the disputes were filed did Viva Raw finally respond — and their response was deeply concerning. They told me I would have to drop the disputes within 24 hours so they could refund me and explicitly told me not to involve my bank. When I called my bank back to explain this, the representative told me this request was extremely suspicious. I was also informed that canceling a dispute is not instant and can take 5–10 business days to be reviewed and approved.

To make matters worse, Viva Raw never should have charged me at all. I had skipped this month’s shipment in advance because I would be out of town until January 1 and could not receive the delivery. They ignored my skip request entirely and charged me anyway — not once, but twice.

This situation completely ruined my holidays. Because of these charges being tied up in disputes, I was unable to buy Christmas gifts for my loved ones and may not even be able to travel. The stress and financial impact were entirely avoidable.

Beyond my personal experience, this company clearly does not inspire confidence. Viva Raw is a young company with multiple publicly documented contamination recalls, including FDA recalls related to pathogens. They promote the fact that they “voluntarily” recalled affected batches, but that is not commendable — it is the bare minimum expected when selling raw food.

• July 1, 2024: FDA recall for Viva Raw products made under Lot 21244 due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination (multiple turkey recipes for dogs and cats, plus a puppy recipe).
• August 25, 2025: FDA recall for Viva Raw products under Lots 21495 and 21975 due to Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes contamination (multiple beef/chicken dog and cat products).

I am done with this company. I will be switching to We Feed Raw, which is cheaper, has been around longer, and does not have the same track record of contamination issues.

Bottom line: disorganized billing, poor communication, questionable practices, and zero regard for customers. Avoid.

With 3 total recalls of their food, no thank you!!! I immediately canceled soon as found out how many recalls they have had but not just that!!! A poor dog died from this recall!!! I do NOT trust this company. Research it yourself! The dog owners were even blocked by Viva Raw. Terrible.
