I ordered a stereo that cost $199.00 in mid-December of 2019. I was required to pay $26.28 upfront - because the addition of $14.88 in taxes and $47.95 in shipping fees took the total price to $262.82. (basically, a 10% down payment) I made the payment and received the stereo 4 days later. I was in the process of moving from the place it was delivered so I didn't open the box, I just moved it into the new place. A few weeks later (mid-January) I made my first installment payment (of more than the minimum) and while I was unpacking in my new place, I opened this box and got the stereo all set up. In testing the stereo's features, I discovered that the CD player door would not open up at all. I called Customer Service. "No problem!" she said. "We'll send you a replacement." "It'll take up to 14 days to get the Return Label." The replacement arrived 4 days later. The collection calls began a few days later. I checked my mail every day between January 25th and February 14th - still no label. When I set up the new stereo - I discovered the same issue occurring on it. Nothing would get the CD door to open. I put the 2nd stereo back into its original packaging and when contacted by the "Collections" department I explained that I was waiting on a label to return the first one and now the replacement had the same issue. I was transferred to Customer Service, and again. "No problem. We can send another." she said, - "NO THANK YOU!" I said. After confirming that I did not want a 3rd stereo to be shipped, I was told: "A Return Label will be sent, it could take up to 14 days to receive it." Then the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted life. I have spent the last 11 weeks trying to get these labels. When the collectors call - "we'll note your account with the reason you aren't paying." "We'll transfer you to Customer Service about the labels", and every time a collector called - round and round I went. On a couple of occasions - I dialed the Customer Service number directly and ended up with someone in the collections department who again, had to transfer me to Customer Service - but I called Customer Service, not Collections! One time during one of these transfers I was on hold for 1 hour and 8 minutes before I gave in and hung up. BUT GOOD NEWS!! The labels FINALLY arrived in my hands the afternoon of April 18th (were postmarked April 10th). I got the boxes dropped at Fed Ex on April 21st! I waited until April 28th to call Customer Service to verify the stereos arrived in their hands. I was told 1 was received on April 27th, but the other one hasn't arrived yet so they cannot clear up this account & collections mess until they receive both. So I called Fed Ex - to discover they were received and signed for by a specific employee at 10:04 a.m. on April 23rd. So back I go onto the MontgomeryWard Collections/Customer Service merry-go-round. Evidently - Collection call conversations are not visible to Customer Service people and vice versa - for Customer Service saw no documentation of my communications with the MANY Collectors who called me and heard the story over and over again. But here is the kicker...they have given me a credit of 262.82 which zeroes out the account, however, despite my already having paid in $62.82, they are only going to refund $24.81 because THEY GET TO KEEP THE INTEREST CHARGED to the account while I have been WAITING ON THEIR SLOW PROCESS to get the Return Labels to arrive!!

This is the biggest scam going right now!! I ordered a Chenelle quilt for my bed, the shipping and tax was about 20.00 bucks cheaper than the quilt itself!! When I called and spoke to a CSR, he was rude, mumbling, and just an inadequate human t!! I asked for a supervisor and was put on hold for a lengthy amount of time until I hung up!! I will NEVER order from them again or refer them to anyone!!!

Very bad experience with Wards. Ordered a Valentine's gift (Necklace) for my fiancee on 1/23 received a letter saying the shipping date would be the Feb 28th. Called the 28th to check shipping status. Date was changed again 3/8. I wasn't notified via mail, phone call or email. Again I called on 3/8 Date was changed again to 4/6. Once again I wasn't notified! So I cancelled order on 3/6 and was told my debit card would be credited in 2 days. Called 4 days later to check card balance. Debit card was credited. Was told I was misinformed and it would take up to 30 days but more like a week. And it would be a check. Called again was told this time it could up to 45 days. Each time I called there story changed. Went from 2 days to 30 to 45. Also ordered an engagement ring for Christmas It went to another state before they caught it. Said it got put on the wrong truck. Took an extra 4 days to get. All I got were sorry no discount no nothing!

If I could give them -10 stars I would. I have been a customer for 6 years and I am gonig to pay them off and get rid of them. I had to have surgery so I was late on a payment. They sent me a letter saying that they intended on ruining my credit and my spouse's credit as well. Horrible company.

Tried to place a $200 ordered for first time and shipping is nearly the price of one item. I called and got a CSR they told mr I have to be a customer to receive a discount. Guess I will try to find the items at their competitor.

First I like to say to all the bad reviewers on Mont. Wards. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY THREATENING PHONE CALL FROM MONT. WARDS .THEY HAVE NEVER CALLED ME. MAKE YOUR MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON TIME, OR DONT OPEN A CHARGE ACCOUNT. I've had excellent customer service with them.
I've had a charge Account 4 mths now with Mont. Wards online. And they have excellent friendly customer service, which I've only waited no more than 10 to 15 minutes for them to answer my call. They have Atomated service to pay your bill also.
I've gotten a nice Icemaker,& Airfryer, from them that I'm making monthly payments which I like that they report your on time payments to all 3 credit bureaus.
Mont Wards has helped me to rebuild my credit, and my credit score has gone up 100 points since I've had a charge account with them. Before I got a charge account with them my credit score was indeed poor at 500. Now my score is 600. That's a 100 point gain which is good for only 4 mths . And I know with my on time payments my score will gain even more points untill I get a good credit score in the 700's.
They mention in their service agreement that they don't report to credit bureaus, BUT THEY DO REPORT, AND I LOVE THEM FOR THAT. They do charge up to 38.00 shipping for a 200. item, but all online catalog company's do. I have no complaints with Mont Wards. Their helping me to rebuild my credit, at a time when I can't get approved for a credit card cause my score is low.
Mont Wards online is a great company to help you improve your score, and also me paying my bill on time, they raised my credit Limit. I recommend them to anyone that wants to improve their score. They have nice household items in their catalog you can order and make monthly payments .
The customer service team is friendly and quick to answer your calls. That's a company I like.

I have ordered from this company and mind you when you apply for credit you tell what your income is. I have been making payments they call nonstop and love to threaten customers. I should have never ordered anything else after they went in to my bank account and took the full amount they are rude and should actually go out of business. I also am well aware as I said in my report that I fully expect them to lie when they see my complaint. I would warn anybody to check montgomery ward out before you try to dezl with them. They are not a trustworthy company and I would definitely say, Buyer Beware. I am definitely done with montgomery ward. I got horribly threatening letters telling me what they could do to my credit and could make it hard for me to buy a car or get a credit card or even buy from another mail order catalogs and they would go after the spouse too. Now who would want to deal with this kind of company.???
Harassing and intrusive mail
I opened a montgomery ward account. I spent several hundred dollars. I made multiple "minimum" payments each month and received harassing letters from the company, even after I my account balance was paid off in full.
Note to business: It pays off to treat your clients like you care about them, not like you own them.

They are terrible. I had a ,$480 credit. Now I have zero. I pay 7 days early every month. I've been paying off for a cheap trellis that broke from wind. I also ordered something on Dec 9 for my mom for Xmas. It never shipped. They never emailed me to let me know what's going on. Took my credit and ignored my order. I wanted 2 sets of service of 4 dishes $60.00 each & $35 shipping. Bad huh? Oò but gets MUCH MUCH worse. They couldn't process the order so made it 2 orders and charged $35 for each order. RIDICULOUS! THEN when I called customer service to complain, the agent hung up on me. Grrrrr

I have been a customer since 2015. I find out they don't report good credit ever. I still continued to use them, started out with $300 limit, it is now $2600. Haven't purchased for awhile, so I bought something on Nov. 3 2019 for $116.00. I received the purchase no issue there, Go to my credit report and the purchase is on there as a new inquiry dropped my score, and will stay on there for 2 years. I have never missed one payment, my balance was zero. They suck I am done. And for some reason the $116 isn't on my balance so I can't even pay that off. They suck buyer beware!!!!!
