Service department hasn't a clue about 5 year warranty
My Whirlpool 6th Sense Dryer had a problem about a year ago that was expertly serviced at the time. The problem has, however, recurred. The dryer stops and delivers a message that the water tank is full. "Remove tank and empty water. START to resume." But the water tank is empty. So, naturally, I tried to schedule an engineer to come out again and service the machine, as this machine has a 5-year service and 10-year parts warranty. That's where the saga begins.
I searched for the number online and was directed to 0818 313 413, which is a number for Hotpoint. There they auto-ask a number of questions. Have you had a service call in the past month, which brand is your machine, is your machine more than 2 years old, do you have an extended service contract? My answers were Whirlpool, no, yes, no. I was put through to a Whirlpool service manager who asked for my address, name and model. He first could not find my records, then said my machine was out of warranty. I explained that it was not, as my machine has a 5-year service warranty. He said Whirlpool does not do 5-year service warranties, only 2 year and there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak to a manager. He said that was not possible. He gave me an alternate number to call. He said it was direct to Whirlpool in Ireland 01 616 1777. He asked me to hold while he checked on something, and the line went dead.
So I called the second number and had the same series of questions to answer. The service manager there said my machine was out of warranty. I told him I was looking at the Whirlpool warranty registration website and it had a choice of 2 year or 5 year service warranty registrations. The drop-down menu on eligible machines had mine listed. I told him that, and he said I'd have to call Whirlpool directly. The number he gave me to call was 01 6161777, the exact number I had just called. He said I should call that number again and say my machine was less than 2 years old, which would put me through to the right department.
So I called that number again and chose the less than 2 years old option. Once again, I was told my machine was out of warranty. He'd put me through to the manager. The manager gave me a new number to call, which she said was specifically for Whirlpool Ireland. It was 180035312300 followed by 800, and I was to select option 2. I didnt twig at the time, but the number I dialled was 123.ie, an insurance company.
In total desperation, we called the dealer and explained. He said I should have said I have an extended service warranty because, essentially, it is included with the model we bought. He confirmed we have 5 years of service. How would I have known that? He has kindly offered to contact his rep and arrange service directly. Let's see if that happens.
Oh, and BTW. Whirlpool has no way for you to check your registered appliances and their warranty information on its website. So you have no proof that you registered your product unless you get a confirmation email, which doesn't always arrive.
I have 5 Whirlpool appliances. Heaven forbid I have to ever go through this again.

Non Existing Customer Care!!
I bought a Whirlpool Induction Hob on the 27th Oct and selected this one as it came with a free set of pots. I've applied for these free pots more than once since the day I purchased the hob via free pots promotion page on the website
I was told that I would receive a confirmation email, but I've still not received it. I've checked my spam filter and it's not in there.
I contacted the email address on that same page to ask about this, but I received a bounce back email.
I contacted an alternative email address on the whirlpool website and I'm being sent around in circles and now no one is replying.
I contacted the Whirlpool Ireland Customer Care number 01 616 1777 and was redirected to a UK careline who didn't know what to do as they dont deal with Ireland outside of service function.
I have yet to purchase an Integrated Fridge Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine and Whirlpool are certainly not my first preference as a direct result of the lack of support in trying to apply for their advertised promotion which now looks to be a complete scam!

I have been provided with yet another fake email address to contact by Whirlpool. Each time I call, I'm told to go to a different department, email address, phone number. None of which exist. This 'promotion' was a complete scam.
Faulty items and poor customer service
I kitted out my new build house with all Whirlpool appliances (as I felt they are an established brand). As part of the kit-out, I purchased a matching Combi-Microwave and Single Oven set from the W11 model range. I am now on my fourth microwave which have been replaced due to safety concerns (as outlined by the engineers that visited my house). This one is also faulty and unsafe as it shows the same fault mode. I have requested a refund for both appliances (oven and microwave). I know the oven is working, but they were purchased as a pair. I will never purchase another Whirlpool appliance given their level of after sales service
Whirlpool 6th sense, cannot change bearings, tub is sealed, you need to cut it open to replace bearings
When a bearing fails on a Whirlpool 6th sense washing machine, which has a sealed tub, the unit is scrap despite the rest of the machine being clean and functional. A bearing went after ~ 2 years, manufacturers like whirlpool now expect customers to replace their entire machine, instead of being able to replace a simple bearing, the bearings are possibly also manufactured to fail after a period so you need to buy a replacement, what a joke! I won't be buying a whirlpool appliance again.
