The staff are so welcoming here
The staff are so welcoming here. I joined the tennis programme and was amazed at the fantastic facilities right here on my doorstep. Indoor courts so the Cornish weather won't impact my ability to play tennis but also outdoor courts to play in the sunshine. The coaches were enthusiastic and you could tell they are dedicated to the tennis here at Bodmin.

Not easy to understand or figure out the resolution. Will stick with the website for now.

2* Facilities
Staff and yoga teacher were great, but...
...£11 for a 45 minute session is asking a bit much, when:
1) The room was very cold
2) The heaters used to combat the cold were not only ineffective for such a large space, but also very loud and distracting
3) The lighting was really stark with apparently no option to dim or reduce
Yoga is all about being mindful, present, and relaxing at the end of the session. None of which is achievable in such an inappropriate space.
And... £11 for only 45 minutes!!

Falls short, but with really simple changes could be great
I use this pool when visiting family - I live out of the county. But to be honest, I do not look forward to using this pool at all.
First off, car parking is great and the staff are lovely. The pool is large, full length and the perfect temperature for exercising. But my reasons for 2*s relates to the facilities. The pool has the potential to be excellent. But it is let down by poor maintenance and ill considered practices.
The cleanliness is questionable - often debris, dirt etc. is left for several days. Soap dispensers in toilets remain empty.
The poor maintenance manifests itself with broken showers, dodgy shower hoses, taped up taps (I actually cut my finger on a tap which was so old, the chrome coating had split and formed sharp edges).
A major downfall that spoils the potentially good swimming pool is the rough waves. I am fortunate to swim in pools (casually) all over the world, but this is bar far the roughest. This issue means it's difficult to take a breath without taking on water (even choking and potentially a hygiene hazard?). I see that the lane dividers are nothing more than ropes, with very few (in any) wave reducing floats. Frustratingly, poolside, there is a roll of full wave reducing lane dividers, which are totally unused.
At the far end of the pool, the end wall rises around 2 ½ feet above the water line, meaning the is nowhere to grab to make a turn (if you aren't unto tumble turns, like me). Part of that wall has a grab bar, but the majority does not, yet I see unused grab bars stacked up and dormant.
I beg the staff/management to make some really simple changes to make this pool jump quickly to being excellent.

Rude Front Desk Staff, Zero Customer Skills
Visited on 12/08 to look around the facilities in regards to taking out a gym membership. Waited patiently second in line at the front desk. Female receptionist was taking ages to deal with a customer asking questions about universal credit. Finally the customer left and so i approached the desk, she never looked up once or acknowledged i was there. Let alone an apology for the wait. I stood a foot away from her for around 1 minute before the previous customer returned and went to the front again!
Now 2 male workers turned up and started talking to her aswell, no one ever said a thing to me or tried to help. So i walked into the gym to show myself around. This is where i saw another member of staff who i tried to get the attention off, but she chose to talk to a person on a rowing machine about the tv programme Bad Girls. I left the gym and walked down the stairs towards the changing rooms where i met a young lad, i explained to him that the front desk is useless and i just wanted a quick look around. He showed me around and i left. Obviously i am not taking out a membership, you seem to have alot of staff lingering around the front desk doing nothing

Friendly, informative staff
The gent at the front desk was really knowledgeable about everything. Every question I had he answered with ease. Got my daughter booked in for her swimming lessons and gave me a really good description of the whole process. The swimming teacher, Rachael, was brilliant with daughter as well, making her clearly feel like she'd been before and integrating in to the class. Top marks.
Only negative I found is the app. Because I've booked for my daughter it can't handle the second name. I had several members of he team look in to it, including management, and it's still not sorted. I have to log in separately through their website to access her progress.

In regards to the App, you are unable to use this to log into your child's Home Portal account. You can only log into Home Portal via the main website and the App is used to book activities such as gym, swim or fitness classes. It is not used to track your child's progress during swimming lessons so I apologise if the staff have given you confusing information in regards to the use of the App.
