Bosworth Park Hotel a bit like the Battle!
I recently spent an overnight stay at the Bosworth Park Hotel in Market Bosworth. Previously in November I attended a similar function which I enjoyed. The Rod Stuart tribute on 9th August was a different story, the main bar had one member of staff with a queue of 26 people. The restaurant was the same and the food was not of the same quality as in November. No potato choice except chips. Both of our rooms were good, being executive rooms but neither of the televisions worked due to lack of signal, The bar in the function room had again only one member of staff causing an extremely long wait and queue. The disabled lift to the function room was not working and as I have serious mobility problems due to suffering from Parkinsons disease this made the climb up the stairs almost impossible. To make matters worse other guests informed me at breakfast that the lift had been out of action for weeks. Surely this is a matter of health and safety? Beautiful building spoilt by lack of shortage of staff and upkeep of maintenance problems.
Brittania Hotel in Edinburgh AVOID
Brittania Hotel in Edinburgh - hotel generally unkempt and shabby with significant hygiene issues in communal areas. Food presented at dinner buffet 90% inedible.
Some senior staff in dining room downright rude. Why my tour operator Caledonian travel continue to inflict this dreadful place on their unsuspecting clientele is beyond comprehension.

Stayed at the Coventry Hill Hotel - never again :-(
Stayed at the Coventry Hill Hotel.
Its a complete s**t hole, the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The hotel appears to have been left derelict for a number of years and there is no bar or restaurant (as advertised).
If you are lucky you may get accommodated in the "lodge" which is the single story prefab "turn left at the skips", the room was so hot that the TV turned itself off and refused to come back on till morning, This left us with the dulcet sounds of the A45 for the remainder of the night, its the dual carriageway that never sleeps (not unlike us when we visit Coventry)
Avoid this hotel
I booked this hotel because of its fantastic location in the heart of Scarborough, as I was treating my mum to a birthday trip with my two children. The location is genuinely the best thing about this hotel. Unfortunately, everything else was a huge disappointment.
Despite checking in online beforehand, the check-in process took far too long, and the staff were unhelpful throughout. When we finally got to our family room, it was obvious it hadn't been cleaned. There was food on the floor, food wrappers and chips left behind, a hole in the hotel room door, thick dust, an unpleasant smell, and the bathroom was filthy with a dirty toilet. We complained and were moved to another room on the third floor, which was thankfully much cleaner.
We stayed for two nights. During our stay, only one lift was working, which made things very difficult, especially for my elderly mum, as we were on an upper floor.
The worst part of the stay came afterwards. While at the hotel, I developed an intense itch and a rash on my hand. After returning home, I became unwell with a fever and sought medical advice. I was diagnosed with scabies, which was incredibly upsetting and has resulted in time off work, medication costs, and a very unpleasant recovery. I cannot say with certainty where I contracted it, but the timing, together with the poor standard of cleanliness we experienced at the hotel, left me extremely concerned.
To make matters worse, I have tried repeatedly to resolve my concerns with the hotel. I have called six times asking to speak to the duty manager, who has always been unavailable. Staff refused to take my details for a callback, and despite sending two detailed emails, I have received no response whatsoever.
It's such a shame because I wanted this to be a special birthday break for my mum with her grandchildren, and I didn't want to leave early and spoil her celebration. Sadly, this turned into one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had.
Based on my experience, I would not stay here again.
Confrontational Managers, parking terrible
Confrontational managers, abusive language
Aggressive, when told by other staff thatâs the location you intend to use is ok.
Power tripping management, do not understand how to calmly talk to guests
Carrington Hotel, Bournemouth
Carrington Hotel - avoid! This hotel was booked for our 50th wedding anniversary and completely fell short on expectations. Complained to reception about room but unable to change, we ended up going home a day early as couldnât stand the heat in the room - apparently there was a hot water pipe under the floor which made it seem like underfloor heating (unbearable when outside temperature was 28/29 degrees). Couldnât have window open as continuous noise from airconnditioning unit. Did request 2nd fan but this made little difference. There was rust around the waste in bath and mould on shower rail, extractor fan hanging off wall (when complained pushed back in but not sealed). Carpets heavily stained and flaking on ceiling, window ledge disgusting when window opened. Threadbare parts on carpets (particularly stairs). Bar staff unattentative, usually on mobile phone and no pleasantries (felt we were an inconvenience). Dining room was clean but no instructions realised it was self service when saw other guests returning with food, not a good choice on menu and food very mediocre. Only positive point I can mention is that the location was good. Wish I could add pictures that were taken.

Spoke to the manager, who promised an upgraded discount package, which never materialised and despite contacting them regarding this, a response (eventually, after contacting twice); nothing has been done

Oh my god please please please avoid at all costs we stayed in the one in Edinburgh we had to pay an extra £20 for a window .. filthy rotten hotel ! Not a 3 star more of a zero star! Food vile ! Dirty dirty
A posh renovation can't hide poor customer service
This group just doesn't care about it's reputation or what you think of it. I'm sure their staff are paid a pittance as well. Stayed for a two-night event at a group rate for B&B at the Palace Spa & Hotel in Buxton - still over £90, so not 'cheap' and this rate apparently didn't cover parking in the grounds or access to the Spa.
The room was clean enough having clearly recently been renovated (I won't comment on the shoddy workmanship) but with no air conditioning throughout and sash windows that barely opened if at all, sleep was nigh impossible in the recent heat.
Check-out was chaotic with keys deactivated before the check-out timing, leading to long queues for reactivation as only one person was apparently 'trained' to conduct the check-out process. Bar queues were the norm with few staff on. Breakfast never had enough place settings replaced when tables were cleared and insufficient coffee because the machine was broken.
Parking that should have been included in the rate was then charged on top for some of the group but not others, with the hotel refusing to refund those who were, despite acknowledging that any additional charge was an error.
Errors can happen, but how those are rectified is key. Disappointing handling overall, with inexperienced and downright rude staff.
Awful
An unprecedented decision meant I had to make a trip to Manchester and a search online advertised Britannia hotels through many platforms including trip.com.
The price and the captivating projection of the standard of the hotel through pictures and listed facilities would persuade most intending customers to make a booking.
The initial listing on the platform stated availability of facilities for disabled individuals, lift and accessible rooms.
There is no doubt the location of the hotel is a hot spot for visitors coupled with the historical, structural and architectural relevance of the building.
Few points noted at the hotel which is not made known or advertised on the site or any advertising platforms:
âªïž The presence of a stair lift to assist people who cannot utilise the stairs to gain entrance into the hotel. The stair lift according to the staff and Manager only accommodates wheelchair users which meant any other form of mobility-associated disability not on wheelchair cannot make use of the stair lift. However, the stairlift at the hotel does actually serve a dual function for standing and sitted wheelchair customers and I cannot understand why staff were not educated of the functions or safe use of the lift for customers who require it.
The lift handle was not extended enough by staff and it kept hitting the shoulder while being operated.
The standing base was not fully flat at some point to use while the operating button appear to malfunction at times.
This experience turned out to actually be an intentional plot to not make me stay at the hotel as the lift actually was in a good condition and staff deliberately toyed with the control while operating it to lift me.
âªïž The hotel accommodates over 300 visitors according to the Manager but it fails to inform them during check-in of the fire safety procedures and evacuation process. The hotel has more than 4 floors with no windows or restricted window in some rooms, lift and diverse customers with varying adjustment needs yet played down the significance of fire safety measures to visitors stating it would be impossible to do so for each visitor due to the large number.
âªïž The booking was during the heatwave and was booked in a room with restricted window (little opening), additional sliding window to the double glazing and a small fan which cannot be pluged close to the bed but the window, where the sockets are.
It was a nightmare. The temperature in the room was just not tolerable and was not suprised to observe other customers lodging in and out for some fresh air. The staff claimed they have no access to the keys and hence cannot have the window opended wide. I was a solo occupant and wondered why the restricted window in hotel rooms in such a time of heatwave.
âªïž The smell emanating from the carpets inside the building is displeasing. There has been some renovation and upgrading done to the interiors of the hotel but with the capacity and handling of the managment of activities, I am not certain as to if a good service can be provided to customers.
Staff dismiss the concerns raised about the condition of the hotel and my additional needs for a lift stating I can walk as they can see me walking.
Staff also pressed further for an explanation for my need of a lift as I could walk and insisted the lift was not for my use but a wheelchair user.
I was asked if I was aware of the risk while pointing to the hotel camera as recording my response which was baffling from a staff who denies the dual function of the lift and operated it maliciously and intently to cause discomfort and a change of mind to leave the hotel which did not happen.
âªïž The hotel charges an extra £1.20 on-site for tourist tax but this was not stated as the reason for the additional cost on the booking platform and it is extorting.
Apparently, it has been in place for more than a year and cash payment was not possible neither would a stay in the hotel either if payment is not made.
It is not a payment I would make at all judging payment is madin the hotel separately and with no disclosure as to the purpose on the booking platform.
I was also charged twice for each booking despite booking consecutive days in the same hotel but different room size.
âªïž The instruction manual stated the presence of a telephone in the room for call to reception but the instructions on its use was not explained neither did staff pick it up when it eventually rang.
âªïž Site stated the availability of accessible rooms but none was on display for booking. The explanation was that the booking platform (trip) failed to do so and management are aware. An explanation I find blaming by the staff to avoid scrutiny. The 2nd/3rd platforms will only advertise the hotel based on the information and agreement between both parties.
My request for an accessbile room was ignored.
The only way this company has a prayer of surviving.
Britannia used to be the pillar of Luxury and fun holiday establishments, since then has become a place you only go when your spending a night in the city and want to get so drunk you barley use the room.
Their only way of surviving would be to change business plans and convert sites like pontins into low income housing earning them a steady income to renovate and restore their artistic masterpieces like the Adelphi in Liverpool.
They plan to try and salvage their holiday parks however even if they are successful in reopening the reputation, tragedies and rooms will make any parent hesitate to book with other options available. If I was employed by them Iâd be pushing the idea to gain a constant stream of income to enhance their other properties instead of spending their finances on new schemes that are unlikely to create revenue.
Adelphiâs the current hub for the homeless and you can tell by the state of the room and the people outside
The grand hotel Llandudno
We made a last-minute booking at The Grand Hotel, Llandudno. We originally booked through Booking.com, but unfortunately the booking wasn't completed correctly. We then called the Britannia booking line, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, quickly sorting everything out for us.
We stayed for two nights. Yes, the hotel is dated and could benefit from some renovation, but despite that, I really can't fault the staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay.
We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel and, although the food was fairly basic, it was tasty and enjoyable. The dining hall was clean, and the staff were attentive and efficient.
As mentioned, the rooms aren't the hotel's strongest point, but the building has plenty of character. There was entertainment available during the day and in the evenings, which we found very enjoyable. Drinks were reasonably priced, and there was plenty to do in the local area.
We also took a trip on the tram to the top of the Great Orme, which was reasonably priced and well worth the visit.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and are hoping to book again in the future, this time bringing our 11-year-old daughter with us.
lovely stay from start to finish
lovely stay from start to finish. The hotel is beautiful, set in gorgeous surroundings on the golf course. We stayed in a suite with breakfast included, and the room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully presented.
The food was very good, and every member of staff provided excellent customer service. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay.
We had no issues at all and would happily stay again. Highly recommended! âââââ
If id been staying at His majesty's pleasure
If id been staying HMP The door numbers remind me of cells, the room has no window and reminds me of cells, the bathroom has mold reminding me of cells, the fan is rattling and there's no biscuits with my tea. The bed is rock hard and the pillow is lumpy. A man run up the corridor at 6.30am screaming that he had been raped and when I returned later this evening, police crime scene tape was all over a door. You have to laugh ð

Stayed at Leeds Bradford airport and was worse than a nightmare. I would definitely avoid this hotel especially if you are disabled as they treat you like your invisible they donât care about your stay when there are problems they agreed with hotels.com to refund yet they donât if I could have given 0 or minus stars I would
Thank you for yet another pleasant stay at Folkestone
Thank you for yet another pleasant stay. I must congratulate you on your new entertainment program. It reminds me of when I first come your hotel. 35 years ago. When you had the kids club down stairs. The new entertainment is so much more up to date we loved it. The only down side was the base on the sound system was ok when playing music. But unfortunately when the show was on it overpowered the singing. Sorry to have a negative But I was a professional childrenâs entertainer for 35 years. And it really spoilt the show. But congratulations on the hotel upgrade and the new entertainment program will be a big success
Never Again. Cavendish Eastbourne
stayed this bank holiday weekend 22/05 till 24/05
I dont think the windows have ever been cleaned.
The room looked ok but look deeper and its filthy
accessible room ...well my mother cant bend her left leg so needs a handrail both sides to lower herself onto the loo...there wasnt/isnt one
Asked for afternoon tea/sandwich Dont do it.
bar only open in the evening, asked for irish coffee , bar person didnt know what one was , and played what sounded like rock music , no wonder the bar was empty both nights.
Honest opinion , the rooms really arent cleaned properly , sea view rooms the windows and sills were absolutely filthy and disgusting. i feel i deserve a part refund it was that filthy.
very boring hotel.
Stayed in a close by neighbouring hotel (sausage) and you couldn,t fault it.
i understand the aspects of running a hotel but this one needs some serious management talks about cleanliness and the way its run..£320 for 2 nights !!! for a dirty room.
A weekend stay somewhat spoiled by our hotel room
Normally our hotel stay is usually very satisfying !!
However this weekend break our room was far from adequate !!
The bathroom floor was badly damaged and filthy with grime visible!!
The extract fan didnt work!!
There was no hot water to shower or wash our hands
The window sealed units were steammed up inside obscuring our view out the windows
The room/ corridor areas had no smoking signs but you could clearly smell that people in the immediate corridor had been smoking as there was a very bad lingering stale smell of cigarettes
The sink in the bathroom visible pipes were filthy with grime
All the aforementioned was pointed out to the desk staff
We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occassions and normally upgrade to the upper floor levels The room we stayed in was on the first floor
I pointed this out to the desk person to view on our signing out / leaving the hotel and was more than happy to take them up to the room and point these items out, to a reply of that will not be necessary ??
