Premium rate rip-off
Looking for a hotel for a stay in Manchester Airport the night before our flight, found the Britannia hotels Airport inn website and phoned them to book a room. Just found out that I was charged £1+ per minute for a five minute call. I canât believe theyâre charging a premium rate for their customers to give them money. Now considering cancelling that room on principle.
The burger I paid £15 for was abysmal
The burger I paid £15 for was abysmal. Clearly had been cooked hours before. Dry, incerated black. One tiny slice of the outsiide of a tomato, one tiny slice of the White part of a lettuce. Traces of relish. Inside of bun burned black. It felt like the "chef" was insulting me. MEON VALLEY HOTEL, SOUTHAMPTON. Do not eat here.
Avoid Adampton Country House at all costs
Opportunistic rip off. Without doubt the WORST hotel I've ever had the displeasure to use.
Normal price at Adamton Country House - £59 per room. We were charged £205. Another guest paid £420. Vastly increased prices but you get nothing better for them.
Breakfast another £14.50 for which you get an inedible cooked breakfast, choice of apple juice, orange juice or water but only dirty water comes out of each of the dispenser outlets. Clearly machine hadn't been cleaned.
Bed surely worse than that found in prison, marginally better than the floor. Additional pillows in wardrobe but without pillow slips. Staff friendly but incompetent.
Stayed at the Britannia grand hotel inâŠ
Stayed at the Britannia grand hotel in Scarborough, yes the main part was nice downstairs nice reception area and bar areas, but rooms were well below average, food wasnât brilliant and outside hotel was just full of seagull poop everywhere and staff werenât very useful, wouldnât supply extra pillow as my friend likes 2 pillows and wouldnât change towels either not impressed
Guest house paradiso
Booked Norbreck Castle Blackpool for a weekend looked good in the pictures and advertisement. Got there complete opposite room and hotel filthy. My room heaving stained carpet and stained divan blood on duvet mold on curtains hundreds of dead bugs in the lighting fixture feaces behind the toilet wallpaper falling off just skin crawling. Hotel in general same. In the lobby bar and other areas guests vaping in front of security and staff which seemed like it was allowed hallways either smelling of damp vape or cannabis. Complained to britannia hotels haven't even had a reply. My advice avoid company's like this as they're only interested in your money and couldn't care about much else.
STAY HERE AT YOUR PERIL
STAY HERE AT YOUR PERIL
Disgusting hotel. Took 2 visits back to reception for check-in staff to produce a working key-card.
Room had steamed up/ blown double-glazed windows.
Mould around the window frame and on the window sill.
Plug socket was hanging off the wall, so dangerous and a health and safety hazard.
Bed extremely âlumpyâ, as old mattresses always are.
No wi-fi available unless paying extra.
Disgusting poor excuse of a hotel that needs closing down and safety checks completed before re-opening.
An embarrassment to the Edinburgh hotel trade.
Disabled People Avoid This Hotel
Our visit to the Grand Hotel Blackpool owned by Britannia Hotels/ Elite Venue Selection was supposed to be a birthday treat for my mother. On entering room 215 which was sold to us as an adapted room we were horrified to see a small standard sized room that we could barely move around in. My mother is disabled and uses a mobility scooter. It was difficult to get the scooter in because there was no room to move. I had to reverse it in every time. The room was tired and scruffy with scuff marks and dust all over it and grubby marks everywhere. It was grotty and bland and looked like it had not been decorated since it was built. The worst was the bathroom. It had a sink over hanging the toilet so my disabled mother could not sit on it properly which is very dangerous. She could not use the shower that had what looked like a corrugated metal grid for standing on, it was to unsafe and unstable for my mum to use. She was unable to shower for two days while there as there was no properly fixed seat with back rest or side rails just a cheap plastic stool placed which she would have fallen off if she had dared to use it. It was extremely dangerous for a disabled person to use. While I was showering on the second day of our 3 day stay I looked down beneath the shower grate into the tray and saw that it was thick with filthy brown slimy scum. It looked like it had not been cleaned for years. I believe it most likely harboured diseases. The ceiling of this bathroom had mould all over it and peeling paint it was utterly vile and not fit or safe for a disabled person to use. I had to dry the floor with all the towels before my mum could come in as the tiles were not non-slip just standard smooth tiles. The beds were terribly uncomfortable and my bottom hit the base when I sat on it. After two nights on these beds and that dangerous bathroom we decided we could not stand another night in the beds after we both woke with back, hip and leg pain. The window in this room also would not close and seal properly so we had the sound of howling wind all the time with a cold breeze that made my mother feel cold all the time. I took lots of video and photos of this place as proof. It really was the pitts and certainly not a properly safe and adapted room, disabled people should keep clear of this hotel. We left a day early loosing a £112.00. We got a refund of £50 after refusing to eat in the restaurant again, the food is vile processed junk food that is served with grease and burned on top. For £112.00 a night for two people you get to stay in a filthy disgusting dump equivalent to a squat, that does not provide any room service you have to ask if you need clean towels and make your own beds. Trying to complain to the hotel chain is very difficult, I have sent one to the email address that the hotel reception staff gave me but doubt they will reply. They do not value their customers but if you stayed in this filthy sh@# hole
I will never stay in a Britannia Hotel or Elite Venue Selection Hotel ever again. I want a refund for the night we did not stay and compensation for the dangerous room they put us in. If I could score this experience lower I would -0 If you like a nice clean safe hotel avoid this dirty dangerous dump!

WORST EVER!! Royal Court Hotel Coventry
Royal Court Hotel Coventry
Myself and two colleagues booked three rooms for two nights, and are utterly disgusted by the cleanliness and general condition of the hotel, plus the awful security!!
Our rooms were filthy on arrival, with hair in the beds, left over beer bottles and cans from previous guests, faulty lighting, and a dreadful smell, not to mention missing carpets and live and dead flys in the rooms! When I complained to reception, the staff member told me rooms are only cleaned every four days, and could not explain to me why our rooms were not cleaned in advance. The customer service team is rude and lazy.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, our van was broken into at the hotel car park, and the security guard on attendance that evening simply said it was a false alarm and ignored us. This happened to three other guests, all of whom received the same inadequate support from the hotel security.
The entire experience has been appalling, to say the least.
Sarah at reception is the bestâŠTEAM SARAH
Sarah at reception is probably the best front of house lady Iâve ever met. Wonderful, kind, caring and shows empathy too. I can honestly say it was a great experience and you made it feel so much more welcome. Keep up the amazing work
Kind regards

This review aims to provide an honestâŠ
This review aims to provide an honest and unbiased assessment of the Royal Court Spa Hotel in Coventry, based on a recent stay from 23rd June to 25th June 2024. While the hotel boasts a spa and promises a relaxing escape, the reality fell significantly short of expectations, leaving me with a sense of disappointment and frustration. While acknowledging that occasional hiccups can occur, the frequency and severity of these problems raise serious concerns about the hotel's commitment to guest comfort and security.
Upon arrival, the lack of a welcoming atmosphere was immediately apparent. The staff at reception did not inquire about booking dinner or breakfast, offering no assistance with luggage. The absence of a welcome call within an hour of check-in further compounded the impersonal experience. The room key malfunctioned, requiring additional interaction with staff.
The journey to my room was hampered by confusing signage, adding to the initial frustrations. The room itself lacked basic necessities, presenting a number of concerning issues:
* The toilet was unclean, displaying faecal residue, and malfunctioned. The presence of a hair in the sink and unswept floors confirmed a lack of thorough cleaning. The room had a lingering, unpleasant odor, suggesting a need for proper ventilation or air freshening.
* The bed was poorly made, and the television was inoperable. The iron provided was outdated and malfunctioning. There were no sockets near the bed, and the kettle appeared to have lime scale build-up.
* No evacuation plan or map was provided, and basic amenities such as towels, toiletries, water, tea, coffee, milk, or sugar were absent.
* There was no contact information sheet or local brochures. A room menu or information regarding the bar's operating hours was also missing.
* The staff's demeanor was consistently rude and uninviting. They lacked basic courtesy, offering no smiles, greetings, or pleasantries.
Despite requesting fresh bedding in the morning, housekeeping failed to attend to my room, leaving me to contend with stale sheets throughout the day. This neglect for basic service standards was unacceptable. More alarmingly, items were stolen from my room, leading to police involvement. This incident represents a serious breach of trust and raises questions about the hotel's security protocols.
Communication gaps added to the frustration. Staff failed to inform guests of the bar's closing hours, leaving guests in the dark (literally) with no explanation. Furthermore, the bar itself was left unattended for over 20 minutes, forcing guests to wait interminably for service. This lack of attention and communication creates a sense of neglect and disorganization.
The absence of cocktails on the menu and the poor WiFi and phone signal in the room were additional disappointments. These minor inconveniences further compounded the overall negative experience.
The unmanned reception desk, forcing guests to wait for assistance, and the restaurant's lack of allergen information on their menu items indicate a disregard for guest needs and accessibility.
Health risk, filthyâŠ
Stayed at Brittania hotel Aberdeen last weekend. Our room was absolutely filthy dust and dirt everywhere, and not been hoovered. Bathroom very clean, beds and bedding clean. Food was good. Complained on Friday about room said someone will come and clean it now left Monday still not cleaned. Had to buy cleaning wipes and do it ourselves. Sent a email complaint Friday evening now Tuesday and still no response received.
Awful company
Awful company, have sent a complaint regarding a stay in one of their hotels 10th May and still no reply! My wife is coeliac and upon asking at breakfast what food items contained gluten measures told 'you should know'....no allergen information available either. Not helpful when my wife who is also diabetic needed some food!!
Had a great stay at the BritanniaâŠ
Had a great stay at the Britannia Manchester, just one night in a standard room was everything I needed. The hotel looks very grand, and is very clean and tidy. The staff were helpful and I would go again.
My family and I had an extremelyâŠ
My family and I had an extremely frustrating and dissatisfying experience during our stay at this hotel in Scarborough from 6th to 8th May.
Upon our arrival at 4pm, which is the check-in time, we had to endure a half-hour wait in a queue, only to be told by the receptionist that our room wasn't ready yet. After waiting another hour past the check-in time, we had to queue again to finally get our room key.
We were given room 201, which was in complete disarray with sheets all over the place, no soap, and no pillows available. Shockingly, a lady barged in without knocking and began cleaning the room, explaining that it hadn't been prepared and she had no idea why we were given the key.
After she left, our troubles escalated. The ceiling started dripping water heavily, flooding the room. I had to go to the reception to get our room changed, and we were moved to room 302A. This room was incredibly difficult to find, and none of the staff seemed willing to help with directions.
The new room was smaller, with a shower so cramped that it barely fit an average-sized person. The water splashed everywhere, making it impossible to take a proper shower.
Our night didnât get any better. We paid £47 for dinner for two adults and a child, only to find a couple of bland and tasteless options. The dessert was a stale cake that was so hard, it couldnât even be cut with a knife. We ended up having a couple of rolls and then going to McDonald's to eat, where we were surprised to see the restaurant's two main managers also dining. Clearly, even they did not want to eat the hotel's food, yet they served it to us at such a high price.
Overall, our experience at this hotel was atrocious, and I will never return or recommend it to anyone.
Do not book
Where do I start, booked the royal court hotel and spa in Coventry, the kettle handle smashed, the blood on the bathroom door, the European plug socket at the side of the bed( so unable to plug a phone in ) has to be plugged in across the room. Did I mention the lovely chap in the next room clearly smoking weed out of the window, I know cos the smell kept coming in through my window, so had to close it, and donât expect wifi! Whatâs not mentioned is the 7 quid charge if you do want to connect. The reception staff look at you like your dirt on their shoe and no one asked if I wanted to book a table for an evening meal ( something that is a give at the basic premier inns) ended up going down the road to a lovely pub. Iâm here on business, and I will be avoiding here in future. Stay away.
Grand Hotel Gosforth Park
Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, a part of the Britannia hotel group who originate from the Shetland isles. Spent 6 nights there, Food is the worst i have ever come across in a hotel. The reception staff are rude and liars. The rooms are smelly, Lack of maintenance within the hotel. I would defiantly not recommend staying in any of these hotels. Potential customers you have been warned.
Britannia Edinburgh... Disgusting!!
The rudest receptionist I have ever encountered!! She was so ignorant. The rooms we had were dirty and the beds were terrible. I would never ever stay here again.
The Carrington HotelâŠBournemouth
Just stayed at one of your Bournemouth hotels The Carrington Hotel reception was clean staff were lovely but the room, was disgusting dust on the skirting boards had probably been there years and on the plug sockets, mismatched furniture walls needs a good painting. Also had a damaged plug socket
Food was just edible
Booked a room for £55 for me and myâŠ
Booked a room for £55 for me and my partner to stay as we had tickets to watch clubland live in Manchester, they asked me for identification so I handed it over but what they failed to mention that my partner also needed identification which he had no photo identification on him so they asked for a bank statement which clearly states his name and Address same as where I live, and still refused the booking, not only that the staff was rude and obnoxious towards us looking their noses down on us, all I can say is that you need to watch how you speak to people thinking your cut above the rest you made me and my partner feel so unwelcome all because you wasn't clear enough of identification, then have the ordasity to charge me for a room that I couldn't use in the end!!! Avoid people of all the hotels iv stayed iv never once been treated like this, you should be ashamed of yourself seriously
