I wore a tartan full circle dress to a Burns party, felt like a million dollars. Can not wait to wear the pencil dress I bought for the next Burns. Beautiful and quality items well made.
On latest earrings order there was an issue with the items and they sent me a replacement in time for the party that I was going to wear them at. Lovely customer service, always keen to help and every time I wear something from here feel special. Thank you Belle and team.

After Collectif went under i thought i would try this company for some retro dresses WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!

The dress cost me £50 in the sale and £3.99 postage. I expected good quality for the price and the material was shocking! you could see your hand through the material and it was poorly sewn.

Then there was the really off sizing, i am a size 12-14 in most stores in the UK like M&S, House of fraiser etc. i sized up to be safe and got a 16. it was more like a size 10!
So i returned the dress at a cost to me as you have to pay for your own returns even though the item was not the correct sizing. so so far i have lost £7.39 in postage as they also don't refund you the postage you paid them either.

Then there is all the rules! they even say if the dress is returned with creases in they will deduct from the refund!! they truely are something else!

Then comes the waiting and waiting for them to refund you. They received the item back on the Monday, two weeks later they still had not refunded and messages i sent asking what the situation was were answered in the middle of the night?? in England hmmm? so i look on here and think oooooh god why did i not read these reviews! so i opened a paypal claim against them which they dragged out as long as they could. I finaly got refunded £50 with a loss of £7.39 which i can't do anything about.

Now their website is full of poor me stories and how they are a true British Company well let me tell you "British Retro" You will not be a company that survives here! There is no way people will tolerate how you treat them, how awful the quality is and not offering apologies or full refunds.

Don't give people the ohhh we are a small business we need at least 3 weeks to issue a refund because i am a 1 person true British company and i serve my customers in a quick turn around and i have alot of them. i certainly would not make anyone chase and beg for their money back.

Anyone who makes the same mistake as me, let me give you one bit of advice.... The second your return parcel shows up as delivered to them OPEN YOUR PAYPAL CASE FOR A REFUND! or you will have to wait 3 weeks and then have to wait weeks for the paypal case to run its course too. And if you have not used paypal?? GOOD LUCK TO YOU! you can bet your life Paypal will be the next payment option to dissapear from their payment options!

UPDATE: To their reply, The Dress was returned and received by them on 23rd Sept I got refund through paypal on 6th October, thats 14 days after! If you don't have the time or staff to check a return after 14 days then the business has issues.

Absolutely amazing. I have now purchased 3 dresses from this company. The last being out of stock in my size. However Belle at B.R.was brilliant. She gave me alternative's to see if I liked them. She was so helpful and I would recommend this company anytime/ Thank You BRITISH RETRO

I had wanted a dress from British Retro for a long time and after losing some weight decided it was finally the time to treat myself. I cannot rate the dress I have received highly enough!! It is absolutely beautiful and fits perfectly- the size guide on their website was so helpful in knowing what size to order. They kept me very well informed of tracking information and the item arrived within the time frame they specified. So all in all I am a VERY happy customer!! Thank you British Retro!!!

I placed an order from Australia 5 days ago and received as promised…. I purchased the Dee Dee red dress and burgundy petticoat with Pearl necklace, earrings and fascinator …. I love the whole outfit and feel like I have stepped back in time it’s gorgeous and flattering arrived just in time for a wedding I’m attending. This is my second order with British Retro and experienced the same great customer service and beautiful vintage style dress xx

fabulous dress and fabulous service

I recently purchased a dress & Body shaper as a gift for my wife. She was away working, so I had ro wait a few days on her return. The dress was beautiful and my wife loved it but in spite of being the correct size,sadly it didn't suit her body length. The body shaper was never used and still in the suppliers sealed bag. I could be wrong but reading their terms & conditions. It was my understanding that (if used) it was non-refundable.
On returning the items, I was then informed that the Body shaper was not going to be refunded.
I find this policy disappointing and that is why I cannot give this company a better score.

I ordered the "Dee Dee Drape Full Circle Black Party Dress" for a very important event in September. Wow! Such a beautiful dress, perfect fit, very good quality fabric and beautifully made. It looks absolutely beautiful on and I felt like Grace Kelly when I tried it on!

I used this company as I saw a dress which although more than I wanted to spend on a day out it looked perfect for what I wanted. I was very anxious as the post office hadn’t received my parcel a week after it was despatched, I contacted rectro and they immediately chased it. The dress came the next day. Great service. Beautiful quality and worth every penny. thank you so much one happy customer CAN I ADD I AM VERY SATISFIED AND NOT DISAPPOINTED AS HEADING SAYS AND UNABLE TO CHANGE HEADING !!!!

All the products I have purchased from British Retro have been top quality! The craftsmanship and material is superb!
There are designs to suit any age and occasion and the fitting is great!
I wore one of my dresses for my wedding and it was perfect! I felt so feminine! I also purchased other accessories from British Retro to make the outfit complete!

I can't describe how this beautiful dress is! It's even more stunning in real life. I love light cotton fabric and playful cut! Took size 16 as I usually wear 16 and have bigger bust and sits perfect! 🥰

Worse experience from a clothing company to date. The sizing is off on everything then when you check the size chart still that's wrong. I was fat shamed by two of the customer service team after following guidance to not size up or down. Then refused a refund well thankfully PayPal overturned this.

1st - The professional business lady whom I was in contact with. My dear Belle who always had a qualified and friendly answer to my questions
2nd- During this process I've never, ever felt disrespected! On the contrary, always had a kind and professional reply .
3rd- The following of my parcel everyday updated by your team, in order to let me know all the details.
4rth- but not the least reason, the dress that I received yesterday ( casually on my birthday 🤗🤗) is a wonderful piece of art. It is exactly what I was waiting for, it fits wonderful on me, looks like tailored to my measures. The workmanship is done very carefully, no loose threads, shows how a garment must be done. Congratulations to the Brand and Team.
PS- Sorry for this long message, I'm in textile industry ( agent in Portugal with high quality standards), therefore I know how things must be done.

My most favourite brand among the vintage brands! I purchased Carmen red rose vintage dress and I am amazed, the colours are beautiful, the fit is true to size chart and the dress is perfect for hot summer days. The dress fits perfectly for a smaller bust. I am a happy returning customer of British retro.

The dresses I recieved are BEAUTIFUL. Gorgeous fabric, well made and I love that it’s 100% cotton. The fit is fabulous and the waist sits in the perfect position giving my body a really flattering shape (size 12/14). I feel so pretty in my new dresses, a feeling I haven’t felt for a long time since having my little girl two years ago. I am so pleased I have finally found British Retro and will be purchasing again! Thank you for making me feel like me again. ♥️

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with shopping a dress. They never let you send back items free of charge, and when you return the item, they only partially refund it after 1 month. In fact, they make you pay for postage twice even if you return the item. Better to shop from reliable online shops. Avoid this place as much as possible
