12 Years gone in a blink

VMware was becoming Broadcom, which is to say that you take the Human out of HR, actively discriminate, and if someone can show active discrimination, with proof, expect the "Don't Confuse us with Facts" response.

This is a place to go if you have no morals, ethics or qualms about treating customers like fools, co-workers like competitors (and yes, they are), have no problem lying and actively discriminating against people, and have absolutely zero tolerance for anyone different!

You Will Thrive here if that sounds great to you, so "good luck".

Adios Broadcom/VMware

After many years as a VMware Fusion user (9 years) I've had to toss the platform and switch to Parallels. I could no longer get incident tech support. They hooped me through a collection of circular broken links, a non-responsive dealer in Wichita (I'm in CA), and a collection of dispassionate hasty corporate staff trying to clear their desk of one miniscule End User. As a former tech CEO (Miramar Systems) I understand the need to shift policies from time to time based on shifting strategies, economics, expediency, industry norms, etc. Callously orphaning your loyal EU base without any meaningful communication bodes ominously for their future choices. They can and should do better. "Sorry about that," doesn't cut it as a response. We're all end users at some point for something. Broadcom show some class.

Nightmare since Broadcom took over.

I've spent the morning trying to just buy VMware Workstation. It's impossible now. They've trashed the old VMware site and half implemented Broadcom's site. Just a complete mess and I would say cash grab but you can't actually buy anything from them now so it's just to leverage as much cash from existing customers as possible.

Absolute mess of a company& website.

I have been using VMware for 20yrs in all manner of tasks, but now this absolute mess of a company has taken over VMware and buried it so deeply in their own horrific mess of a website that not only are you now required to register in order to access it but that even when you do you cant find the relevant software for Adam and it wasn't even a simple task to register.

Gave up, went back to using an older non supported version, thanks Broadcom, real nice of you to make life that little bit harder eh.

Terrible

Terrible. i just want to buy VMware Workstation and they are making me jump thought hoops with this list of question(seen down below). 3 months this this has been going on far.

• What is the name of the product that you are interested in?

• What kind of challenges or gaps are you looking to solve with this solution?

• Are you using another solution for this now?

• What are your key requirements?

• Will this solution need to be on-prem or cloud based?

• What integration requirements do you foresee?

• What operating systems and servers do you utilize that the solution may need to be compatible with?

• How many endpoints do you have that will need this protection? (endpoints means-computers, workstations, mobile phones, servers, devices, etc.)

• Are you the main point of contact for this request?

• As far as the timeline goes, how quickly are you looking to implement a solution into your environment?

• Are you a decision maker, or an influencer, with respect to purchase decisions?

• Is your budget for this already available or planned?

• Are you in conversation with other partners, local or Broadcom resellers?

Just take my money and give me a licence. It's not hard.

Garbage...no service....can't download

Garbage...my licenses never transferred and the help is non existant....
now claim you get workstation for free but constantly getting "Account verification is Pending. Please try after some time."...W.T.F?
Because of this, I fully support a pirated version of these products and by failing to make it easy to do it legitimately and failing to provide support, you 100% agree to users pirating your software

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. They recently merged with VMWare -- when I purchased a product from VMWare, I got an error message directly after trying to install that the product isn't supported on my device (even though the product page said it was). After MONTHS of trying to get a refund and HOURS of calls, I am still nowhere near getting the refund and the responders seem to be trying to make it hard for me to solve the issue.

Broadcom's VMware Takeover: A Customer's Licensing Nightmare

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Broadcom's acquisition of VMware warrants a warning to other customers.

I purchased VMware Workstation Pro 17 and, like many users, was surprised to be redirected to Broadcom's support site when trying to access my VMware account. After resetting my password and logging in, my purchased product was nowhere to be found.

Broadcom's customer service proved unhelpful. I explained that I was a paying VMware customer and asked for assistance migrating my license. They simply directed me to a download link for VMware, which didn't address my issue at all.

When I inquired about the location of my license key, their response was shockingly dismissive: "This is a hypothetical question and I won't be able to give you an answer to this, I am sorry."

I expressed my frustration as a paying customer, and they explained that keys without active support contracts wouldn't be migrated. They assured me I could still use Workstation for free and apply the key if I wanted.

However, this raised a crucial concern: If I lost my license key, Broadcom would not be responsible, effectively rendering my purchase meaningless. While the software might be free now, it wasn't when I bought it.

Their response? "It's not useless, you can still apply it after you download." When I pressed further about Broadcom's lack of responsibility for lost keys, they abruptly ended the conversation.

This experience has left me deeply dissatisfied. Broadcom's handling of the VMware acquisition has been a nightmare for customers like me. I caution anyone considering purchasing VMware products under Broadcom's ownership to be aware of the potential licensing issues and the lack of support you might encounter.

Ever since Broadcom acquired VMware it gone in the down hill. I use VMware since I had ton of issues with virtualbox.

license did not migrate and if you don´t have license you cant download the installer. Only if you still have a copy of installer hopefully you can get it done and use the already bought license.

To contact Broadcom support is a nightmare there is no answers or anything via chat and have not responded to emails or support ticket ever.

Terrible, work for over 40 years in IT, this is the worst transition I have ever experienced

Terrible, website is slow, the information we seek about VMWare is not there, while this was better when it was still VMWare. Every browser disables the many website redirections there are, redirection to tanzu, while this should not be happening from 7 june 2024.
We do not have licences anymore, no open contract, need new licencse for version 8, so now the upgrade proces is halted, Terrible, work for over 40 years in IT, this is the worst transition I have ever experienced

Trying to get access to VMware download…

Trying to get access to VMware download for retrieving VMRC (from download link in vCenter) and end on broadcom.com main page. Not able to find any info on this site about vmware.
Login with the migrated account, show no products.
Support says, only if we have an active contract.
As we also need an upgrade, support give email address to renewals hotline, but address dosn't exist.
Trying to enter a sales request, show no VMware "Product family", so not able to send a request to prober instance.
This is worst migration experience I have ever experienced.
Their website is totally useless.
Support - not existing!!

Google a VMware problem now

-Google a VMware problem.
-Get a bunch of links to threads on VMware Communities.
-Click any of them, hoping to find an answer to your problem.
-Broadcom: "Nope. Here's the Broadcom community front page"
-Search the Broadcom site for the same search string, and get no results.

Think of consequences of this for everyone.

Can't migrate from VMWare to Broadcoms…

Can't migrate from VMWare to Broadcoms portal, and glitches when going to support bot.
Can't get a refund on my VMWare Purchase last month, and they just now made it free. Waste of money they have not offered to compensate for, I will not be using VMWare or Broadcom software in the future.

Broken website and non-existent support

I have to agree with the other poor reviews. For years I have used VMware Workstation Pro 16 on a Linux/Kubuntu box. It will not install on Kubuntu 24.04. That may be an OS problem, not a Broadcom problem. So then I tried to download Workstation Pro 17, but the website times out instantly. That is most definitely a Broadcom problem. So here I am, a potential customer trying to buy something from a vendor, and the vendor makes it impossible. That is a Broadcom problem.

I have also tried getting online and telephone support. Telephone support is not available unless one already has a case number. That is a Broadcom problem. Online chat is broken; it is not possible to reach an agent. That, too, is a Broadcom problem.

Lots of problems, no solutions.

VirtualBox is looking better and better.

Horrible downloading experience.
Made an account, couldn't even sign in. I'm trying to download VMWare but cannot due to the horrible put together site. Nothing on that site works, requires you to make an account on their site to download VMWare.

Really poor customer experience

Really poor customer experience.

1) Raised a simple request to confirm compatibility with a new Operating System version. Their documentation from Symantec was still dated 2016 and had end of life Operating Systems listed. Over a week later and the engineering team has still been unable to confirm which versions of Red Hat and indeed Apache the Symantec product will work with. It is as if all development and maintenance of Symantec products stopped when Broadcom took them over.

2) Have a separate open issue with Broadcom whilst trying to log in to view my support ticket. I am constantly presented with an invalid token, please try logging into Okta message. I spoke to one support person this morning who didn't know what to do and so she hung up on me. The second person also didn't know what to do but did raise a support call for me. There has been no further correspondence from 2nd or 3rd line support since.

3) We also have a problem with a Symantec AV engine which is periodically crashing when updates are applied. The suggested workaround from Broadcom actually broke the application and had to be regressed. We are another week on and Broadcom have struggled to offer anything resembling an action plan to try and resolve the problem.

The recent acquisition of VMWare doesn't bode well I suspect for the millions of customers who rely on VMWare as their virtualisation provider of choice.
