Needed to bulk buy some timber last minute. I spoke to Grant.S on the phone who was super helpful. Due to the last minute oder, I wasn't able to place the order in the dimensions I needed. Due to it being so last minute, I was fine with this. When the delivery came, I was joyed to see that the the timber was cut to the dimensions I needed. Ended up saving me alot of time. Great customer service.

Website showed a great price for materials they don't actually have
Website showed a great price for insulation but they called later to say they could not find stock locally and to fulfil the order would require two courier deliveries at huge cost. Credit card already charged so now a 3-5 day wait for refund. Do not take orders if you cannot deliver them.

Weâre sorry for the inconvenience caused.
We do not hold stock directly on site as we operate from an office and source materials through our supplier network once orders are placed.
Unfortunately, after your order was processed, availability was extremely limited and the only suppliers able to fulfil the quantity required were charging approximately £500 in courier costs for delivery, which made the order unviable at the advertised price.
Rather than pass on these excessive delivery charges, we contacted you immediately to explain the situation and arranged a full refund, which is now being processed.
We understand the frustration caused and would once again like to apologise.

While Monday 12th January was a full working day, we had other orders to manage and needed to confirm stock availability with our suppliers, which takes time.

I'm very disappointed with your service, I placed an order since last Saturday and up until today I haven't gotten any information of when my materials will be delivered, this is absolutely poor service, I called twice or so and they kept telling me the person incharge of my order is not on sit, for crying out loud the client is on my neck and they're demanding an answer but I can't give them because I don't know what to say. Still No Refund â Extremely Frustrating Experience
I placed Order #000129589 on 27/11/2025 for £176.36, and the company cancelled it. Today is 07/12/2025, and I still havenât received my refund.
I contacted Building Materials Nationwide several times by email. Every time they replied with the same generic message saying that âeverything is fineâ and the refund is being processed, and that I should receive my money within 3â5 business days. Well, those deadlines have passed more than once.
I am tired of chasing them and repeatedly asking them to check the refund status. At this point it starts to feel suspicious, if not borderline fraudulent. I sincerely hope this gets resolved soon, but I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.
Think twice (or ten times) before dealing with this company.
I am giving 2 stars only because they at least respond to emails.
Update: I finally received my refund on 10/12/2025. I think that's quite a long time.

We can confirm we did cancel this order due to the fact it was a retail order and was not over the amount of £750, so unfortunately this order could not be processed.
After reviewing your order it appears the refund did not complete as expected due to a system processing issue, this prevented it from finalising automatically.
To resolve this as quickly as possible, we have now manually processed the refund.
You should see the funds return to your account shortly, depending on your bankâs processing times.
