I had an issue with British Gas lite trying to back bill me and charge extortionate amounts and got great advice on what my legal position was and was able to deal with them my self

The single most important and useful helpline for any business who have financial concerns……and it’s free!!!!
They gave me incredible … articulate.. reassuring advice on how to proceed with a problem I had…. Took the time to make sure I understood and backed up the phone call with a detailed email… helped solve a problem my accountant of twenty years told me was unsolvable…..

I had a lovely interaction with a customer service rep by the name of Rebecca today, I did not have time to leave a survey, so I wanted to write a review here.

Her quick and responsive understanding to my situation was highly commendable as was her clear and empathetic response. As she was unable to resolve the query on the first call, she called back after collecting all the information she required to sate my initial query and did so with manors exceeding expectations.

It goes a long way for a matter to be delt with diligence, and even more so with kindness and understanding. For this I am grateful.

I was surprised to see some low ratings here because they have been extremely helpful and supportive with me.
I do agree that there is usually a long wait to be answered and I did have two calls where I was on hold for two hours then disconnected. I guess that indicates the volume of support people need.
I called 18 months ago for legal advice about closing my business, which was very helpful. This year I needed help with managing a business loan debt. The advice was spot on, and I appreciated the need for the detail I was asked to provide as it enabled them to offer very specific advice.
Using a downloaded template I wrote to my lender and today they have accepted a 20% settlement offer.
In general the past 18 months have been extremely distressing with the loss of my business but today I have been able to draw a line under it, and can now move on.

Debt advice phone line that you can't get through to. Totally useless phone line. On hold for 1 hour and counting- doesn't work.

Absolutely phenomenal advice and help today with Matt. I feel I can breathe again and am looking forward to taking the next leap on my journey to becoming debt free . Thank you

I have so much anxiety as my personal and business debts are so high. I feel a bit better now talking to the advisor at Business Debtline, she spent hours going through my business and personal debts and advising me what action to take. Just make sure you do your budget sheet first (income & expenditure), one for your personal and one fir your business. It does take a while to get through because they have so many calls, but it’s worth it in the end!

Bunch of useless phone operators and live chat staff!
Spoke to someone on live chat gave all my details, was told to go online and fill out the extensive budget sheet and call the number once its done. Phoned them up and some non english person answered and literally wanted to start from the beginning again even though i had spoken to someone on live chat, given this information and filled out the budget forms. So you constantly repeating yourself to 3 different people then they will see who to transfer to and then only get an appointment on the phone with a specialist. Total waste of time! Do not bother even doing the budget which takes hours to do as you do not even need to do it as they have to ask you all the info and more by a untrained operator from a different country before even passing you to the next step. Will figure out my own advise rather!

Completely hopeless. Waisted 5 minutes of my precious time and banged the phone in my ears. I don't advise anyone to ask this company for debt advice. They give useless info then dismiss you. I have stroke and mounting debt problems. BDL won't do Jack.

Appalling service, they are supposed to be a charity and I called for a little bit of advice to see what my best option would be either IVA or bankruptcy.

I spoke to a gentleman called Mark and so many times I could not hear him and I really struggled. Despite him calling me back and the line was still horrific.

I felt badgered to give him information about a few other creditors despite me explaining I didn't have the information as I needed to call the creditors and find out balances etc.

I will not be using your services again and certainly won't reccomend. Now I remember why we are still in debt, because last time we spoke to them they was the same many years ago.

Called Biz Debtline for help with a major council tax issue, and ended up coming away with some of the best help, advice, and guidance we've ever received.

The lady who helped me - Debbie - took me through a thorough analysis of my personal and business financial circumstances. She then discussed the options in a very open and knowledgeable way.

After a catastrophic business failure I was directed here. The call took time to set up, but the sheer relief I felt at the end was life changing. The advisor showed great empathy and explained everything with patience. Without them I may well have had a breakdown.
