So I call the cat protection regarding a stray cat that has approached us at the care home I work at, it was hissing but still approaching us like it was scared but needed help, So we had started to feed him and he was so thirsty and hungry. We made him a bed and he's been there 24/7 for couple of weeks.
Cat protection advised me to stop feeding it so it can find it's way home.when I explained I couldn't do that, the line went dead, and they never called me back.
I'm glad I ignored their advice! I take it to the vets today, it was microchiped and been missing for 3 years from a loving home 11 miles away!! Unless it got stuck in a vehicle it would have had to cross a motorway to get to where it was. So no chance of finding its way home! If everyone listens to cat protection telling ppl to not feed stays, then sadly there's alot of desperate furry friends desperate for help being ignored on the streets.
It's the whole point of why owners microchip them!!

Everyone we met was informative and friendly.
Joe matched me with our Coco and she is all we could have wished for. As soon as she stepped out of the cat carrier she made herself at home. She loves everybody. Is comical, clean, easy to feed. Loves all the toys awaiting her. Is very loving and loves a lap. She loved everybody at the vets & made her visit so easy.

Awful organisation had nothing but stress and anxiety with a rehome that hasn't worked out nearly 7 weeks with hardly and surport or anyone showing any willingness to help resolve the issue. I will never have anything to do with cats protection again.

I contacted Cats Protection because there has been an uneutered ginger tom visiting our garden and house for most of the year. He comes in the house at any opportunity and sprays. He also eats my 14-year-old cat's food at every opportunity. I've asked around and nobody has claimed him. I daren't try and catch him in case i get scratched because my health would suffer if that happened. Cats Protection has said they'll come out and catch him, so I've waited in a couple of times now and they never arrived. My cat was a stray and although I love Cats, I'm nearly 68 and don't want another one. I get upset about this cat because he knows he's unloved and unwanted. I live on a main road and I've seen him dodge the traffic a few times to go and mate. Our cat hates him but he's also an outdoor cat and gets very upset about his food being eaten. I'm at my wits end with it. I really hope Cats Protection can help this poor cat because he doesn't look very old, he doesn't appear to be to be nasty, he's a very cute looking cat and I know that if he was neutered, he'd make somebody a lovely pet. Unfortunately I think his fate will be on the main road.

On Saturday 3rd August 2024 I adopted a cat from the Tyneside adoption centre. From start to finish the process was fantastic. Jenny, who I was emailing back and forth for a few weeks before the adoption was great. Provided me with all questionnaires required and asked me for all my required documents, proof of ID, address and homeowner status etc.
I simply emailed photos of these documents through, with no need to provide hard copies which was easy.
When going to meet the cat the facility was clean and you could tell all the staff really cared for the cats and looked after them well. The cats all had fairly nice pens (for a shelter).
Cats protection have been great with myself and I couldn't ask for a better service.

We had a great experience adopting two young cats from the Curridge/Newbury centre.
The staff were lovely, very friendly and informative.
We had three follow-up calls to check on how things were going and good advice given for any questions we asked.

We adopted a wonderful cat from the Harrow homing centre, who is playful and relaxed around the whole family including our 4-year-old daughter. The staff were incredibly helpful and ensured that the adoption process went smoothly.

Experienced a fantastic adoption service from St Helens CP centre. Professional, kind and caring assistance from Robyn and the other staff who work there.
It worth calling them to hear the âON HOLDâ music ð¶ (purring and meowing) - absolute genius!
Azuero (now Derek) has settled in fine and is a very happy kitten.

The staff here were very considerate and made sure we understood the entire process during adoption, generally making the process very easy.

We adopted our first cat through cats protection Tyneside adoption centre recently. We found her on their website and were contacted really quickly after we'd registered our interest online. We went for a visit at the adoption centre- they gave us lots of time with our cat giving a chance to see how she was with our daughter and opportunities to ask questions so we could be sure it was the right match for us. They sent us loads of information which was really useful as first time cat owners. Everyone who we dealt with was absolutely lovely and couldn't help us enough and you can tell they care so much about the cats. Everything was done very quickly and efficiently. Our little fur baby is now settling in well! We would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a cat.

Hi so today we was going to pick up our new kittyâs today from the adoption centre locally.I got so far paperwork online and on paper itself. We thought it was locally which is wasnât.I was told there would be no issues when picking them up from the adoption centre today. We was prepared to bring them home and bond with us as family which didnât go to well.Firstly I had the phone call from them but they never asked me if I was in rent accommodation, or others it took me ages to get my landlord/manager to get authorisation to be able to have them in our place.Has to be the worst adoption Iâve ever experienced in my life and wonât be using cats protection anymore to adopt cats.I mean I really enjoyed meeting both cats and was hopefully going to bring home tonight and start fussing with them and learning how the cats work.I was told I needed a second room so the cats could be split up and they could have there own space to which now we are being told that this wouldnât happen and they wouldnât offer that to us.So please donât adopt with them there not a good charity and certainly wonât be giving them donations.
The staff seem nice but half the staff donât feel like they doing there jobs.I just donât get what has gone wrong with the adoption such a shame was ready to have some cuddle time tonight.

When cat protection launched cat Guardians, I made contact. 14 years ago I adopted a cat from cat protection, he was 8 his name was Ben. Even though Ben has gone to rainbow bridge after a wonderful 6 years together, I continued to support cat protection by dropping off food for rescue cats etc. Cat Guardians is a lifeline for me. I live alone and currently have 2 sister cats who suffered badly, had cat flu and were rescued. While they were adopted from another agency my fear was what would happen to them if I passed away. Thankfully, all their details are logged, their needs recorded and a promise to rehome together. I can't thank you enough for this reassurance.

Refusal to assist in rescue but very quick to refer smaller local rescues to the public despite having millions in funding, so much so they paid a small fortune to rebrand. Is that where all the voucher money has gone to I wonder?
Have pulled the voucher scheme for not only the general public, but other smaller, less funded, cat rescues. Meanwhile the CEO of the charity sits on a 6 figure salary.
CP has completely lost its initial goal of putting cat welfare as their top priority. With the loss of vouchers and shifting the responsibility onto local rescues we all expect feral populations, feline diseases and avoidable fatalities to sky rocket, and cat welfare to plummet.

Very upset by the attitude of a local branch of Cats Protection, which I approached to enquire about adopting a kitten. The initial person I spoke to at length was very positive, but the administrator I called the following day to proceed with the adoption, who had not read my application form or spoken to the volunteer, was dismissive from the start.
She misinterpreted what I was saying & made negative assumptions that weren't true, such as that I live on a main road when I do not. I have my own house, with front & back gardens. I was spoken to as if I didn't know the first thing about caring for a cat when, in fact, I'm an experienced and devoted cat owner, only just surfacing from the grief of losing my two 20 year olds to complications associated with their age. She also implied that being an older person disqualified me from adopting a young cat & I was in floods of tears the moment this short call was over, believing I'd never be able to adopt again.
I think Cats Protection should ask itself why the Dogs Trust, a comparable charity, has 86% 5-star reviews while it has only 23%. 68% have given CP just 1-star, and many of these will be because there's no zero option. This isn't a slight margin of error, it suggests systemic problems. I think it's probably fair to say that smaller cat rescue charities, crying out for support, may be better ports of call when adopting. If necessary, I'll buy from a breeder, which saddens me greatly because that is one less unwanted feline denied a loving home.

I contacted my local centre with a heavy heart due to loosing my job, car and 90% of my belongings.
I couldn't take care of 2 cats due to having zero mo ey or things left to sell. I emailed with my heart on my sleeve and got zero response.
I would argue they are now money machines and don't actually take cats, but more want to look like a feline Florence nightingale.
Avoid like tge plague amd donate elsewhere.
Disgraceful approach!

Sent an email asking whether they had any cats suitable to be homed with guinea pigs. Naturally this is important in our search as we need a cat that can tolerate them. We were told that they couldn't advise on specific cats and to come down to the shelter where the workers would have a better idea. Arrived and started filling in a form, only to midway through be told by a worker that we couldn't adopt due to having guinea pigs.
I came away really annoyed as my initial email was to find out whether they would allow us a cat. Then we had to travel all the way to the shelter just be shooed out the door again. They need better advisory before making people visit.
