Cancelling subscription: A Warning

I signed up to MM a year ago. After a while I realised that the product does not offer what I needed. I was happy to take it on the chin that I misunderstood (even though I felt sure it had been mentioned in the sales pitch).

When the anniversary was approaching, I went into the system and cancelled my subscription.

I clicked on every button that asked, "are you sure" YES, "Do you want to speak to someone?" NO! Just go ahead and cancel. Done.

Or so I thought.

The anniversary rolled around and I notice that our bank account had been charged $1400AUD. I logged into MM to see that the subscription had not cancelled at all, and that there is a notice that my next renewal date is May 2027.

I attempted to cancel again, following the same process from two months earlier, clicked on the “no, I don’t want to talk to someone, please go ahead and cancel” and despite receiving a confirmation (not in an email of course, just a pop up window) the subscription was not cancelled.

You actually do need to speak to someone (as they want to talk you into retaining your membership).

I received the refund – minus the bank fee to convert the AUD to USD – and they’ve asked me to update my review to say that I this has been done.

I will not change my rating and sing their praises for refunding me. I shouldn’t have to waste my valuable time chasing this up, when I had cancelled.

I stand by my original statement that this is highly unethical.

If you sign up to MM and decide to cancel, you will need to email them to make sure that they follow through on it, otherwise, you will be charged.

Useful platform, great customer support

Useful platform if it matches your use case. Was a subscriber for many months. In the end couldn’t cancel my subscription in time because of a bug, contacted support a few days after the charge went through and they issued a full refund.
