2 engineers arrived to fit a new radiator,both seemed to spend more time laughing and talking . One of the engineers asked to use our toilet which I didn’t mind, however he left the toilet in a disgusting state, snapping the toilet brush and not having the decency to tell me. When they left I found that the hot water was not working properly and the radiator was leaking. One of the engineers returned to fix the problems, however the radiator is still leaking. When I contacted Dyno rod the following morning I was informed that the Job had been closed and I would be transferred to a colleague, which was an automated British Gas department. Hopefully British Gas will send one of their own Engineers to sort out the problems Dyno rod have left.

Your operator was unable to sort the problem referred to Yorks Water however fee of £198-50 paid for call out really should not charge the full call out fee if problem not resolved prps £100 would have been fair just leaves you with feeling of injustice as I am with the same problem cost a lot for not being sorted

Excellent service from start to finish.
Our drainage problem was identified at 8.30pm. Spoke with a very efficient call handler who explained the service and costs. Service engineer arrived at the property at 10.00pm. He was very professional and was able to resolve the issue within 45 minutes.

I was happy with this service, call handler took lots of details, price was clear up front. Next day visit to sort out a drains problem, problem sorted with all necessary equipment and without drama. It's an issue with plant roots that happens every few years, so I'd be happy to get Dyno Rod out again.

Arrived on time, cleared blockage, no charge due to recent previous call out, polite, helpful, punctual, we will use them again.

The engineer turned up. He had no interest in doing the job. Took one look at the pipes and said that they belong to the water company and couldn’t do anything.
He then proceeded to tell me that he was going charge me for the hour. £270 for just looking at it (commercial rates of course).
After discussing this with head office, they have refunded me. They said of course they would as they didn’t do anything. So it turns out the engineer was just being unkind.
The pipes are within my property so as it turns out they could have cleared them for me but the engineer just didn’t want to.
I won’t be using Dyno-Rod again.

Craig phoned me to let me know he was 1/2 hr away and arrived shortly after the start of the allocated time. He gave me confidence the job would be sorted. He was fast/ efficient/knowledgeable / professional and very polite and considerate. My toilet issue was sorted in about 40 minutes and I am so grateful.

Professional, on time, persevered until sorted, no clock watching, trust the brand, maybe a tiny bit more expensive than competitors but cheaper than getting fleeced for unnecessary work.

I run a medical practice and booked online to unblock the drains at MY PRACTICE. I was told that the cost upfront was around 200 for first hour before an engineer called in. I accepted that. Then told that it would be 125 for every half hour and that before they continued the work, I needed to pay the 125 upfront before the engineer would continue. I trusted them enough to pay upfront before a job, yet it was unprofessional to then ask that I pay more before they continue? Where's the trust-surely it works both ways? Very unprofessional for a national company to practice business this way. I then did the sensible thing and sourced a LOCAL company who came on 21.9.26, 200 for first hour, and 125/ hour thereafter! Fantastic job, very professional and we paid AFTER the job was done. Why are people using a national company instead of local ones?

I needed a cctv survey of my drains. Scott came to do it, he was efficient and effective and gave me a verbal summary. Would definitely have this service again

Fantastic service today! Simple online booking. Flexible when I needed to be elsewhere for a few hours. Unblocked my drain without fuss, though it was obviously a tough job. Cleaned up nicely and everything back in place. Thanks so much, we were really hampered with no dishwasher or kitchen sink! You truly deserve medals!

Andy was polite and helpful and fixed the problem quickly he also said when we booked on Friday afternoon we should not have been told there was one available until Saturday

British Gas Homecare – Our experience with Dyno Rod.

Day 1 – The hot water unvented cylinder started to ‘pulse’ which meant the showers and taps were delivering pulses of hot then cold water. Phoned the call centre. A repair was arranged for the following day.
Day 2 – Dyno rod plumber ‘No.1’ attended. He didn’t appear 100% sure what was causing the issue so ‘phoned a friend’. His colleague advised that the inlet combi valve and expansion vessel should be replaced. He needed to order the parts which could take 4 days. I asked how the next appointment would be confirmed, but he wasn’t sure as ’he didn’t know how the process worked’. 1 Day waiting in.
Day 5 – We received SMS confirmation from Dyno Rod that the repair would go ahead the following day.
Day 6 – Dyno Rod plumber ‘No.2’ attended. He had no background information on our repair. He did not have the parts and wasn’t ‘certified to work on that type of system’. He called the office and confirmed the parts were on another van and the plumber would be along soon. Dyno Rod plumber ‘No.3’ attended. He didn’t have the parts. He had been sent to identify the rating of the combi valve so that they could get hold of one. He left. Dyno Rod plumber ‘No.3’ and ‘No.4’ attended with the parts. They ‘completed’ the repair. 2 Days waiting in.
Day 7 – The repair was leaking from the gun metal coupling between the copper pipework and the expansion vessel. Phoned call centre. A repair was arranged for between 8.00 and 18.00 on Day 9, as it was the weekend. We did request that this be done first thing due to the 2 days we had already wasted staying in.
Day 9 – 16.10, SMS message from Dyno Rod that the appointment was still scheduled for Day 9. 18.00 – No show from Dyno Rod. 18.01 Phoned the call centre. They could not contact Dyno Rod as the offices closed at 18.00. They ‘tried to contact the plumber assigned but he was working off line’. As the repair was still ‘live’ on their system they suggested he was busy and running late and he may still attend. We asked to raise a complaint and we were given a complaint reference number. The call handler offered a ‘good will gesture’ of £25 if we dropped the complaint. We refused as we wished to proceed with the complaint. Day 9 – No plumber attended. 3 Days waiting in.
Day 10 – I have no idea what happened next. We still have a leaky fitting and an incomplete repair with no scheduled date to complete the work.
The various SMS for Dyno Rod say that the plumber will contact us shortly before arriving. We have not had any contact from their plumbers. Be prepared for a barrage of SMS messages which keep you hanging awaiting your ‘appointment’.
Based on or experience, do not expect a quick resolution of an issue or effective workmanship. The service offered by British Gas & Dyno Rod is not even 1 star. As for the workmanship of Dyno rod, the leaking fitting was assembled to the expansion chamber using ‘pipe grips’ on the fitting diameter, not a spanner on the hexagon which is the design intent.
