The worse health insurance company
The worse health insurance company. Shame on You! Do not use them as I am cancelling mine.
My Gp refer my son who is a teenager to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. The dermatologist recommended us to see a plastic surgeon. The plastic surgeon wrote a letter recommending immediately removing the moles as it seems dangerous. The insurance refuses to pay saying they only read the GP referral letter however, the Gp letter only refers us to a specialist as the Gp has no idea what to do. How ridiculous this company. They do not care about their clients. Shame on You! Not to mention it took them one week to reply.

Upon thorough investigation of the clinic letters from both the dermatologist and plastic surgeon, we found that the information provided did not raise any concerns regarding the moles. Despite offering to assess follow-up information on the biopsy results for coverage eligibility, we have not received a response. Therefore, we cannot consider this referral eligible under the policy.
We understand this may not be the desired outcome. However, it’s important to note that we did not solely rely on the GP letter but carefully evaluated all available information provided by specialists.

Caring and helpful Claims team
I was recently diagnosed with cancer and I spoke to freedoms cancer team. In this difficult times, the claims teams made it an easy process. Javed was very helpful explaining my options. I have always had fantastic interaction with everyone at Freedom.

Do not use this company
Do not use this company. I’ve had two doctors and an ent specialist put in writing to that I require surgery to improve my breathing through my nose AND confirm it is not a pre existing conditions. Freedom have however decided it is and refused to pay. Apparently their manager (whose name I can’t use) knows more than an ENT specialist and gp’s. Cliche insurance business trying to wriggle out of paying. Go to bupa or one of the big ones, shocking practices.

Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service. Everyone is always so very nice to deal with and so helpful. What a change for a human being to answer the phone within a couple of minutes! I have been with Freedom for many years and in my experience are the best health insurance I have dealt with. Thoroughly recommend.

Poor Customer Service / Poor Coverage
I've been quite disappointed with the customer journey from getting initial treatment approved and ongoing rehab post surgery. I was recommended Freedom Health 5 years ago as excellent on cover and customer service and changed from using Bupa in the past. This year is the first time I've needed to use my cover and the experience has been really poor, from getting approval for treatment / surgery, providers complaining that they havent been paid for services provided / approved and having cover for my post-surgery rehab with the physio removed, even though I'm a few months away from being fully recovered (I'm 4 months through a 9-12 month rehab following ACL reconstruction).

The procedures of claiming is not too much bureaucratic like it is in other insurance companies.
My documents were processed within 2 weeks and then i have got money on my account.
The staff is open , friendly, English - speaking.

If I could have given 10 stars it would not have been enough. The staff have been fantastic, very courteous and extremely efficient in helping me through my claim and for the level of care that they have provided. Not every private hospital has heard of Freedom Health but they all must be extremely please how efficiently they deal with your claim. I cannot recommend Freedom Health Insurance highly enough. They have supported me through a very stressful time. A huge thank you to all the staff at Freedom Health Insurance.

I needed to see a doctor quickly and Freedom Health were excellent
I needed to see a doctor quickly as he was going away on holiday, i called Freedom Health and Shannon was extremely helpful and understanding. The consultation was approved quickly and had the appointment.
I was grateful they could help me under the circumstances.

Amazingly fast approval of my claim !!!!!!!
Freedom approved an urgent claim for me in under 20 minutes today! For various boring reasons a consultant had missed something vital off a referral letter and I was in danger of losing an appointment for scans. The letter was rewritten and supplied to Freedom with a plea for urgent attention. I'd say 20 minutes is pretty urgent, and very impressive! Thank you Shannon :-)

The kindest customer service
I´ve been with Freedom for 3 years now and genuinely have to say I can't fault them. I see with my own patients how they often don't want to use their insurance due to it always being a hassle whereas I tend to get an phone GP appointment with on the day I call and have the referral letter on the same/following day. The Freedom claims team are helpful, quick and in a good mood when picking up the phone, unlike most customer service. Special thanks to Shannon, Richard, Holly and others whose names I cannot remember!!

Extremely slow and overly complicated claims process
They take weeks or months to process claims requests and the policy includes multiple terms and conditions that prevent you from being able to make a claim against a treatment. For example, alternative therapies such as chiropractic treatments will only be approved if you were referred by a GP, which no one ever really does before visiting a Chiropractor.
They know this and so that's why they make it a requirement because they know most people will forget to do this. They also know people might skip visiting their GP if their pain is severe and an urgent visit with a therapist is needed.
So, they've carefully crafted their policy so that it's complicated to understand with multiple clauses they can refer to to justify not paying you out for claims.
When you manage to somehow meet all their requirements for a successful claim, you can expect to wait a minimum of 1 to 2 months just to get your money back.
Edit: Your response that your intention is to ensure I receive the most appropriate treatment is not believable. In reality, you're doing this to make the process more complicated and increase your chances of being able to reject the claim because you know the likelihood of clients getting a referral first before undergoing treatment is lower. So, please, don't waste my time with this feedback to my review.

Obtaining referral from the GP before undergoing treatment is common practice in health insurance. We understand that you might feel this can delay your treatment, however, the triage process with your GP ensures that you receive medical guidance on the most appropriate course of treatment for you. We can then assess your claim based on the clinical advice received from your GP.
To streamline the process, our Virtual GP service is available as part of your policy for more convenient and timely access to medical advice and referrals.
We also recommend that members should contact us prior to undergoing medical treatment so we can advise on the coverage available to them.

5 star customer service
This is a family run company and not only has a very comprehensive policy it also has 5 star customer service. In my 10+ years with them, any time I have needed to call I have been answered promptly by friendly, courteous and super efficient staff. Claims have been dealt with very smoothly and have never needed any intervention from me. I unhesitatingly recommend Freedom
