2 hours on hold with a company that has zero respect to a paying customer
I am a Lively customer trying to buy a $360 phone upgrade. After being transfered to 5 separate departments I couldn't take it any longer. What kind of company keeps a paying client on hold 5 times for a total of 1 hour and 39 minutes. All I want to do is give Lively money. This business has obviously traded staff members for cost cutting short term greedy profits. All I am try to do is upgrade to a better phone. I have the option of buying the phone from multiple sources but felt some obvious misguided loyalty to Lively. Who in the world would put up with this type of debasing treatment? Not me. I am a level 6 Google guide and my reviews have reached 70,000 views. That's my next stop. This type of business practice is unacceptable. Good luck Lively because you obviously don't deserve my money or another second of my valuable time.
DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED!
Lively markets itself as a senior friendly device/company for peace of mind and security of senior citizens. It now markets a Gen 3 flip phone which claims to work with a wifi-calling feature. After purchasing two of the upgraded phones (we previously had Gen 2 flips) we learn that the wifi-calling feature does in fact NOT WORK, and THEY KNOW IT!! They claim that a "fix" may be available maybe sometime in September, yet they continue to very unapologetically and shamelessly market and sell these phones. This is all learned after hours on the phone with their "customer service" line where the staff clearly know there is an issue yet can't do anything about it. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I would give it less than 1 star if I could; avoid this company (if you want to call it that); no support!!!
I would never trust my loved one to a lively emergency button, consistently showed wrong location
Purchased the Lively emergency button 5/18/26. I had to call the company to help set it up after receiving it 5/25/26. They were very nice. We had the service for 4 days because it consistently showed the wrong location for my mom, which can be a deadly mistake since EMS would go to the wrong location. On 5/29/26 I cancelled the service and sent the equipment back to Best Buy Health return center. Thankfully I tracked it because I did not get a refund. I spoke with Lively again on 7/13/26 about not receiving a refund - again, they were very nice. (I did get the refund minus a $10 restocking fee) Today 8/29/26 I am having to call them again because they continue to bill me $39.80 for the 4 days the service was active. Also just now when I called, I was going to just pay the bill and be done with it so I chose the automated "pay your bill" and when I put in the account number it said "you owe $0, your last payment was April __ 2015 and your next balance will be due July __ 2015"... I don't know what is happening with this company but it has been TERRIBLE!! However.. every time I have spoken to someone on the phone, they have been so nice.. it is not the people, it is the product and the system. IF you get this for your loved one, please make sure it is showing the right location... this could be life or death for your loved one.. and I have little to no confidence in this company after the experience we have had.
Unbelievably bad service
Unbelievably bad service. Waited for 45 minutes to have my call picked up. The customer service rep was rude. After I made a simple change and my business was complete, I decided to check out the website given that the automated voice told me every 3 minutes that I should use the website to make payments. Except I wasn't allowed to access the website which kept malfunctioning, i.e. asking for my password but when I entered it, automatically, immediately deleting it then asking for it again. And I'm no tech genius but the page to access my online account looked like something a novice would set up in the year 2000. There's more but I have a headache from dealing with them and won't give this another minute. Bottom line: don't believe what Lively tells you about their great customer service. It's as bad as Comcast,, possibly worse.
I purchased a new Jitterbug 3 for my 95…
I purchased a new Jitterbug 3 for my 95 yo mother who is blind.` Customer service screwed up the transfer and some of the contacts didn’t get transferred. Then the voice calling would not work. I was told by CService that there was a problem with the new phone not responding to voice commands but a fix was being sent out and it could be as late as the end of September before the fix was completed. My question is, if you know the phone has a problem, then why sell it? The Supervisor Angie, did tell me that she had 2 phones on her desk and they worked just fine. I asked for the phone number to the corporate office of Lively and was told there isn’t one. Imagine that? I think they should fix my phone and refund the amount I paid for it. There is a 95 yo woman who is blind that has a phone she can’t use in case there was an emergency.
Beware lively smartphone plans!
I used a Lively flip phone for years without at issue, paying $36/mo. Then I decided to try a Jitterbug Smart so I could get photos from my children. This required me to change phone plans. When I talked to the Lively rep, they asked what plan I wanted for the new phone and I asked "can I just have the same plan?" He said "sure." Imagine my shock when my first monthly bill came April 21 for $478?!
When I contacted Lively, the rep told me that I had been switched to a different plan with huge extra charges for extra data usage rather than the hard limit I had with my old plan. I was able to switch back to the old plan for $37/mo but by that time I had racked up another $281 in charges...
I contacted Lively to resolve the issue since I felt that the phone rep had clearly assigned me to the wrong plan but customer service just gave me the runaraound. The first woman I talked to gave me a “case number”. She said it would take a week or less to hear back. When I had not heard anything I called and started all over because the person said, “what is a case number? we don’t use those.” I did get to speak with maybe the next person up and they offered no assistance at all. I think its obvious from my billing history that there was an error. I literally said “I beg you for help. This is so much money for someone on a fixed income." but they did not care about taking advantage of an elderly person which is a strange position for a company that bills itself as elderly friendly.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this predatory company and encourage anyone to not trust anything their representatives say.
Where to begin
Where to begin. Awful customer service. Long hold times just to get a person on the line. I set up autopsy for my relative, got the email confirmation and they are not taking the payment out so I am getting overdue payment notices. When you finally get through to someone all they say is they must have discontinued the autopsy and refuse to set it back up despite sending them info allowing them to discuss bills with me. If I could give a zero rating, I would. Stay away.
They are a company without a soul
The customer service is beyond bad, and anything from being helpful. Between their false advertising (hidden fees) and extremely long waiting periods for customer service. I have never had more calls drop before than while speaking to someone from customer service. I wanted the basic service, and they kept putting me on the plan above that one. (Another 45 minutes of my life I won't get back) Now I' stuck with a phone that is useless because I cancelled by account with them. It's has become a $80 brick. after slightly over 30 days of being their customer. They are a company without a soul.
Can’t get anyone on the phone to…
Can’t get anyone on the phone to address continued billing even after we ended service. So, we will continue to not pay for services not rendered and take them to court if needed.
Inattentiveness by Lively Warehouse Staff
My mother's phone malfunctioned, so we contacted Lively to receive a replacement phone because I have the insurance on her phone. The replacement phone Lively sent the battery charger was defective.
We tried to charge the replacement phone to no avail. We left the replacement phone on the charger for 24 hours, and the phone would not charge. Thank goodness, mom's old charger still worked. We placed the replacement phone on mom's old charger and it charged the phone.
We thought this solved the issue, however; the phone didn't have a signal. We contacted Lively and was told the "tower was down." We contacted Lively two (2) days in a row only to find out the replacement phone was defective.
So, we have to wait for Lively to send us another replacement phone. Now my mother has to wait six (6) days before the replacement phone will arrive, which means she has to wait a total of 2 weeks before she will have a phone.
The phone and the charger should have been checked before it left Lively's warehouse. If so, my mother never would have received a inoperable phone and charger.
My mother is 81 years old and she relies on her Lively phone to stay in contact with family, friends and conduct her business affairs.
This is unacceptable she has to wait 2 weeks before being able to use her phone.
I also informed the representatives I expect my mother's bill (which I pay) to be fully credited for the loss of time she hasn't been able to use her phone. I was told it has been "noted on her account, and can be discussed once the new replacement phone is received." Huh?
Unacceptable Lively!
AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY
AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY. LOOOOOONG WAIT TIME TO SPEAK WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. OVERBILLED MY 80-YEAR OLD AUNT TWICE. ALSO, HER PHONE BROKE IN BARELY A YEAR OF USE.
My dad has been a customer for less…
My dad has been a customer for less than a year. His Flip2 phone is certainly easy to use, but the amount of spam calls coming through was ridiculous. So we recently upgraded him to Flip3 which is an Android based flip phone and is advertised as having a spam filter. It absolutely does not work. He still gets 10 to 20 spam calls on a daily basis. Customer service was nice enough but offered no real suggestions. If the phone allowed us to only ring his contacts, that would be wonderful. Unfortunately, there is only one phone that allows this and it is AT& T which doesn't work for us. And they do not have the ability to block at the network level like Verizon, even though they are using their network. Summary: if you don't care about spam filters and do not need customer support then it is a decent cell phone for the elderly.
I really wanted to like this smartphone…
I really wanted to like this smartphone and Lively for my mother, who is 86. Less complicated than traditional Android phones, but the slow network, the lack of customer service, especially on the weekends is an issue. I've tried using other location apps and the one from Lively and it doesn't work. It is of great necessity that I know where my mother is, but Lively is NOT IT!
Horrible Customer Service for products ordered
Ordered an upgraded Jitterbug 3 phone for my father and was on the phone with Lively to make sure a charging cradle was included which they said it was - 3 times. When phone arrived, no charging cradle. Spent almost an hour on the phone with customer service and got transferred 3 times only to be back to square one. Requested a call back (25 minutes) which never came.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Will not purchase anything again from them.
There is too much to tell
There is too much to tell and I really don't want to make the effort. This is a horrible company.
Absolutely terrible product
Absolutely terrible product! Not senior friendly at all. The buttons on the flip phone make no sense. Switched my dad back to T-mobile.
Keep my number is wrong
Keep my number is wrong. I had to get a transfer pin from old service so they could transfer the number to their phone. They let the pin expire and I had to get another one. They have still not moved my number over. Poor customer service.
flip3
only had flip2 for about a mos and because of the alexa issue, they told me to convert to their new flip3. OMG, i will take the flip2 w/the mishaps of the alexa. every time u pick up the 3, it goes into a 3-4 min clockwheel churning before you get main screen. to avoid that, you have to do a hard stop/start. then, to use the mic, the same clockwheel issue occurs; the texting, i gave up. couldn't figure it out at all. one ex., once u get the mic working, if u say a dollar amt. like $127, it types words not #'s; i got lost trying to correct the text and just deleted it! contact listing is good on both with the header a-z just like the 2; but again something is not right w/the mic?. i will agree w/most reviewers, the cust. serv. w/lively is avg 45 min wait! they need to hire more people
Purchase Lively because it was on AARP
I bought a Lively phone after seeing its advert in AARP magazine, expecting it to be a quality product. However, from the start, the volume was too low. After 12 months, it began dropping calls, and people told me they couldn't hear me. The most concerning issue is how long it takes for the phone to open. After pressing the side button, Android takes a long time to load before I can enter my passcode. This delay could be critical in an emergency, such as a heart attack, where I might not be able to dial 911 in time. When I contacted Lively to report that my phone wasn’t working and explained the issue, they told me the 12-month warranty period had ended. Now I am stuck with a useless piece of junk.
