Our initial impressions of Hickory’s Smokehouse were actually quite good, but unfortunately the experience went downhill very quickly.

We waited around 30 minutes for a table, and then our food arrived roughly 45 minutes later than expected. The biggest issue, though, was the steak we were served. It had a very strong smell that, to us, was unmistakably like rotten meat. We sent it back, but were then told that the staff couldn’t smell anything wrong with it.

I’ve worked as an undertaker for 25 years, so I am extremely familiar with the smell of decomposing flesh, and this was concerningly similar.

It was disappointing that our concerns seemed to be dismissed rather than properly acknowledged. What started as a positive first impression turned into a very unpleasant experience, particularly given that food safety was involved.

Much as I hate to agree with Brian the Liverpool fan below 😂, Hickory's was amazing. Great food, great service and a fantastic atmosphere. Well done guys and girls, we'll be back!

what a fantastic experience we have had at Hickorys smokehouse West Kirby wirral.
On arrival Joe was very pleaseant and professional.
We asked if we could dine outside and he duely obliged showing us to our table .
Joe told us who our table server was , gave us a bag of popcorn and bottle of cold water ( nice )
We asked Joe what he would recomend as we havnt been there for some years.
He said the Brisket was fab , and even bought us a taster of it to see if we liked it.
Needless to say it was divine.
We ordered the brisket WOW just WOW.
Our server was Alice very professional and friendly very efficient and fun .
Alice ensured our meals arrived quickly and ensured excellent service.

To the management these two individuals Joe and Alice are a valuable asset to your team. They made us feel welcome and valued as customers.

Food was 10/10, drinks are hit and miss, sometimes have sticky and unclean glasses, first waitress was Zoe who was amazing, so helpful and just generaly great at her job, we cant reccomend her enough, we then had one (didn’t get her name) kept forgetting about us to the point where our desert was cold while we were waiting for cutlery, no conversation and made us feel unwelcome, and generally ruined the atmosphere of our evening, very hit and miss with staff competency, most are good but some just aren't cut out

Staff very friendly like robicaly trained .
Drinks prices are over expensive not just the silly fancy ones they push you to try .
All draught drinks are way to expensive and Crap.
Loud Country music that nobody's ever heard is annoying.

My first time in Hickory's Smokehouse (Lincoln) and I've been again 2 days after all because of the quality of food and hospitality of Caelia. She provided us with a 5 star service, very patience, attentive, She left her mark on us and the company should be proud and lucky to have her. Thank you, Leighton

The platter for two at £72 was generous enough to easily feed more than two people. The drinks were lovely, and the service was attentive and friendly. Overall, a really enjoyable experience!

Very Poor experience, we booked a table of 8 friends for my Birthday Meal and we were seated in a bulkhead area that was so dark we had to put phone torches on to read the menu.
One bulkhead light at the end of the table was turned down and request for more light was refused and we were told was impossible

The Food was just about passable the Meat ribs wings chicken were all covered with just wet sauces on top.
one of our party had the pork in a jacket potato which was full of fatty meat and she just left it as she couldn't see to extract non fatty meat to eat
....I personally kept eating the parchment paper on the tray of food as I couldn’t see my meal properly ....the rest of my friends all thought food was sub par and several left food over....
Shame was looking forward to trying the restaurant the staff friendly enough and we are not faulting the service
We wont be coming back and this is a real problem for restaurant businesses like yours as there are plenty of good restaurants in Allerton and most are kept alive by repeat custom...

We visited Hickory’s in Abingdon. I can only say one word, amazing!

The staff were absolutely fantastic. Such a lovely attention and happy team. Nothing was too much trouble and the main sharing platter was brilliant!

Me and my family came to hickory’s to celebrate my partners birthday and WOW did we have an amazing time, we have been several times before however this time left us all so impressed. We sat outside and had our lovely waitress grace serving us. She sorted us out with some free brisket as we was all stumped on what to go for, she helped us choose some amazing cocktails and even surprised us with a singsong and doughnut at the end! She was beyond attentive and patient with my parents, and even took lots of lovely photos for us. Will definitely be returning 😊

It was the second time of visiting Milton Keynes Hickory and both occasions was for a birthday. Great night. Lorna our waitress was exceptional. Could not do enough for us. So friendly as are are all the staff.
Lorna was so lovely great asset to MK Hickory. Food delicious. Great evening will be back.

Lovely food, friendly staff. The brisket was absolutely delicious and Hickory's Pal Ale is also very nice.

Went to Hickory Northampton , staff super friends, great atmosphere, food was very nice - only downside there is no air con and the area we were sat had no windows so was a bit sweaty betty

Have to start with saying everyone act like they enjoy working here and are so welcoming. I had a last minute hotel stay and luckily the hotel was attached to this place, which made the misery of not being at home actually enjoyable and the food was so good.
The bar staff need a mention Toby James and most importantly Harry who seems to be able to make the most miserable of customers walk away smiling
The location I visited was Walton Milton Keynes save the location just in case your passing and want a better food experience

Decided on our 7th Wedding Anniversary we would go to Hickory's Smokehouse in Northampton by the Lakes.
My husband booked a table for 2.45. We arrived on time and were tasked directly to our table. My husband is a paraplegic. He found that the table may be not suitable as it was right by the entrance to that particular seating area and thus his wheelchair may block access and folk as well as servers may struggle to get passed so to aid the traffic flow he asked the staff that were seating is if we could move to another nearby table. She politely said she would check as that table was reserved but she okays it and moved us with no fuss.
Our food server was a young man. So friendly and charismatic. He made friendly conversation and asked if it was our 1st visit and if we were celebrating anything. We said yes to 1st visit and that it was our 7th wedding anniversary.. when he took our order I asked for an item change on my smokehouse tray. He said i will ask but I warn you they usually say No.. I said but it's our anniversary.. he came back in less than 5mins and said yes they can do that. We were served drinks within 5mins of our order being taken then 15 to 20mins later our food came out just like we asked for. He came over while we were eating to check all was satisfactory and once we were done our plates were cleared and dessert menu arrived.. when I ordered our dessert I asked if I could place an order for take home as my son called and when he realised were we were he wanted some food. Again they obliged.. while we were half way through our dessert the take home order arrived all packed and ready to go. We asked for the bill and it took a lot longer than we anticipated. 15min later the staff change had happened and a young girl brought us a board we were shocked as it was a anniversary dessert board. We were so touched 🥲. We weren't expecting that. I asked my husband if he had set that up.. he said no. The previous server had alerted the catering team, what we shared while he was taking our order and put that in place. How lovely was that thoughtfulness on the staffs part or the business policy.
Overall we had a faultless and memorable experience and encountered some amazingly kind, polite, caring and magical staff on our anniversary on the 2nd of August 2026 at Northampton Hickory's Smokehouse at the Lakes. Needless to say the food we were served from start to finish was fornominal and the boozy root beer was the star for us we left feeling special and Thankful. The bill had the tip jar amount of £9.10 added to the total but it states that they will take that away with no argument if you desire. We left that in and added £5.
Thank you to all the staff front of house that we met and all behind the scenes that made our day memorable and special.

Hickory’s in Worcester absolutely amazing!! Please give Briony a raise she goes above and beyond honestly.
Went today with my 13 year old that has autism it is also his birthday she was so lovely and sweet.. very accommodating to my sons needs and was very mindful she even got him a birthday gift and they surprised us with a birthday donut and she even made sure that it wasn’t too overwhelming for him whilst also making sure he has a nice birthday 🎂 thank you briony you made a day out in a public place we try and dodge to a really nice enjoyable experience.

Terrible staff rude self centered over priced for the experience left me destrought after rudeness

Unfortunately we didn’t receive the best welcome tonight at Hickory’s Chester. I feel the lady who greeted us really needs to work on her social skills. Also witnessed her being quite off hand to a family just arriving for their evening too !

What amazing people and fabulous food. Thank you to Kaprhys for making our first experience so memorable. You went out of your way, above and beyond expectations. You truly know what customer service is and how to deliver the best experience.
Joe the bartender was so awesome customising cocktails. Amelia was just the best server, friendly, respectful, knowledgeable and made the whole experience enjoyable. Alejandro was the perfect host, couldn’t have done more for us. Rhys was a fantastic manager not just to us but all those in the restaurant. Thank you all for truly making it a great experience, it makes just a difference when you have the best staff possible. Thank you again Kaprhys for you did for us, you deserve praise and recognition.

Went to Hickory’s Peterborough, it’s ok. The weather was hot, which made the bar area, which is not air conditioned, stifling.
The staff are pleasant, engaged, and organised. The restaurant is air conditioned, but the place is poorly lit, I needed my phone torch, to read the menu.
The food was ok, the brisket lovely and tender, but it was on the salty side, as was the steak, again perfectly cooked, but with a reasonable amount of gristle. It was served with a tin mug, of your average freezer to fryer, skin on fries, or salad, not both. There was also a blandish pepper sauce, and a somewhat soggy mushroom. I thought it was quite pricey, for the meal I received. It was OK, I ate it, would I rush back…mmmm
