They don’t allow their staff the day off to attend their child’s funeral. Absolutely abhorrent, disgusting and inhumane treatment of a human being. Should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves.

Shocking experience at the Holiday Inn Gatwick…
Last weekend at the Holiday Inn Gatwick Worth, my partner and I experienced some of the most shocking treatment we’ve ever encountered at any hotel, and we’ve travelled all over the world, staying in many Holiday Inns.
The Duty Manager on shift, Maurizette, was dismissive, confrontational, and refused to engage with a very simple concern we raised. She repeatedly interrupted us, told us she “didn’t want to be involved,” and even attempted to end the conversation by saying sarcastically “Good night, go to sleep,” while we were still trying to explain the situation.
When I asked for her name, she refused despite wearing a badge. When I asked for a pen to write it down, she said: “I’m not going to give it to you.” Her colleague had to step in.
The most upsetting moment was when I wrote her name exactly as it appeared on her badge, and she responded in a noticeably condescending tone, “Do you want me to spell it for you?” This made me feel humiliated and singled out. Since then, I’ve experienced anxiety and distress about how I was spoken to and treated.
This is absolutely not the standard expected of any hotel, let alone a HolidayInnHotel. I have submitted a formal complaint to both the hotel management and IHG corporate, and we are awaiting a full response.
Guests deserve respect, dignity and professionalism, none of which were shown to us last weekend.
Do not use this hotel chain
We had to rearrange a booking due to unforeseen circumstances. When we call the reservation desk they claimed they could not hear us even though we used a landlines. Once we got through to someone we were told that that the booking made been cancelled and a new date had been booked. On arrival at the hotel we were told there was no booking.

Ich bin mit meinem Freund am 04.10.2025 von Frankfurtnach Zürich gefahren um ein Konzert zu besuchen und wollten eigentlich in der Nacht wieder nach Hause fahren. Dann haben wir gegenüber von der Messe das Hotel Holiday Inn entdeckt und kurzerhand beschlossen, mal nachzufragen, ob noch ein Zimmer frei ist. Mein Freund ist daraufhin zu Rezeption gegangen und hat nachgefragt und ihm wurde gesagt, dass kein Zimmer mehr frei ist. Ich bin dann 10 Minuten später auch zur Rezeption gegangen und habe tatsächlich ein Zimmer bekommen und es waren noch weitere Zimmer frei. Ich muss dazu sagen, dass mein Freund tätowiert ist und das auch im Gesicht.An dem Tag waren eine dunkelhaarige und eine blonde Angestellte an der Rezeption, und die Absage kam von der dunkelhaarigen. Sie scheint wohl große Vorurteile zu haben und dazu möchte ich sagen, dass mein Freund einer der liebsten Menschen überhaupt ist. Mit dem Zimmer und dem Frühstück und der ganzen Atmosphäre waren wir aber zufrieden. Aber ich hätte trotzdem nicht gedacht, dass es in der heutigen Zeit noch sowas gibt.

So, my husband booked a room with a view at the HI in downtown Brooklyn, NY for 10/10/25 staying 2 nights. We got there a 3:50, check in is at 3pm. We were told that the room was not ready and there seemed to be an issue with the reservation that was made 6 months ago. I asked why if we booked the room 6 months ago and was there after the required check in time was there an issue. The daft hotel desk person, only said "I am sorry." No matter what I asked he only said, "I'm sorry." He offered no other explanation and did not seeming to care. I realized as i was leaving very frustrated that the "front desk supervisor" was sitting behind them scrolling on her cell phone. What great customer service.
I also called on 10/9 to see about a reservation I made for my brother coming from Texas, I was told by 2 different people 2 different things about the reservation. I was put on hold and the super came on and got a nasty attitude with me. All I was asking was what was the real answer, the implied that they (he own staff) were wrong and there was a miscommunication. I never got to ask or explain, her rudeness and lack of professionalism was so jarring that I hope I never see her in person! If this is how they train their people and if this is the way they treat customers who PAY their SALARIES, I will NEVER again stay at a HI. You will have to pay me to do so. And then I would have to think long and hard about it!! I know this review means nothing to them, but it is nice to let others know what to expect from this location.
Terrible call center and reservation…
Terrible call center and reservation management. Even though they confirmed a sofa bed room for us twice over the phone, when we arrived the hotel had no idea about it and the room was not prepared. They completely left us stranded and wasted our time. Their call center isn’t even based in the UK, and you can’t reach the hotel directly by phone. Once they take your money, you’re left waiting on the line for hours. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel. Especially if you are traveling with family or in a group, do not rely on them.

If I could give no stars I would. Use the holiday inn regularly and will now be looking elsewhere for accommodation after being fined £160!!! For driving in and out of their car park.

We are staying the night for flight in morning Went to restaurant for evening meal It was terrible soup cold meal was burnt supposed it have sauce on it all dried up Then asked for sweet waited 30mins only when we left it was brought to us. On complaining supervisor said they were short staffed not our probem seemed like plenty staff but no organisation

My Elderly Parents were turfed out on the street
My elderly parents turned up at Holiday Inn Heathrow last night at about 1130pm after a long journey and despite having booked in advance, they were told the hotel had been overbooked and they no longer had a room. Having a flight early the next morning they now had to find another hotel within taxi range at a much much higher cost than their original booking with good old holiday inn. The front desk apparently shrugged at them and offered no assistance with sourcing alternative accommodation or onward transport to any alternative booking. I am absolutely disgusted with Holiday Inn. This is shameful, incompetent and above all a
complete abdication of a duty of care to a couple of aging customers who have used Holiday Inn all their lives long lives. My poor parents had an early flight and so the extra added stress of having to traipse round London to find and another hotel at almost midnight was unwelcome to put it mildly. I’m shocked and appalled by this callous awful behaviour.
Invasive 2:45 AM Room Entry – Completely Unacceptable
During our stay at Holiday Inn Express Stevenage, my friend and I (both women) experienced a disturbing and unacceptable incident. At 2:45 AM, a male staff member entered our room without permission, accompanied by a female staff member who stood silently at the door.
They claimed to suspect that our male friend—who had earlier dropped us off and briefly returned to bring our bags—hadn’t left, even though it was clear only two women were in the room. Despite this, the male staff conducted a full search, including the bathroom and behind curtains. I was half-asleep and half-dressed, and no apology or proper explanation was given.
This was a serious breach of privacy, completely mishandled, and left us feeling unsafe, anxious, and unable to sleep. Only the morning receptionist showed professionalism. We’ve reported the incident to IHG and caution other travellers, especially women.

Holiday Inn by Edinburgh Zoo
We were able to check in super early which was fab nit having to drag our bags around Edinburgh until 3pm. Room was clean, all supplies were fully topped up, towels super soft and smelt fresh. Reception staff were super friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean, light and airy. Good selection of food and drink available. We used the airport link100 bus in and out of Edinburgh City centre, stop was right outside hotel. Great experience.
