It's such a shame that Jamie Malpass has sold his soul to DJ Foods / The Fat Butcher.
I've referred loads of friends and family to Malpass and ordered on a regular basis. My latest delivery, the first from DJ Foods was not fit for Human Consumption. The meat arrived warm and was rancid. They have previously used ADC Couriers, now DPD. I've been in communication with Customer Service who think I'm an idiot. Their remedy is to send another delivery via DJ Foods for which I will be refusing to accept such delivery. I've requested a refund and I will go down the small claims court if I have to. I've asked for Jamie Malpass to contact me, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. I will never use Malpass Butchery again and I urge everyone to steer well clear. I've previously given Malpass 5 star ratings. I will never use them again. One of their employees called Lee also called me silly and had a right go at me on Facebook. Rebecca in their CS Dept said the Head Butcher would personally pack my replacement box. Dave in CS said the replacement box would be coming from DJ foods. I don't want it. Hopefully Jamie Malpass will make personal contact with me.

Good quality meat, delivered on time.

Not eaten all of the meat yet but I have had a bad steak and also the beef joint was not very good.
I used these because I have had the packs from them before and they were great.
I did notice that my first purchase was sent from a different location to my second purchase.
I will give them another go as the pork loin joint on Sunday was amazing. Maybe just a bad batch of beef.

I am so disappointed!
I’ve always had such lovely quality, tasty, good size meat and have recommended to all friends and family in the 12-18mths I’ve been ordering from them (having been signposted to them from a recommendation).
I too have had a delivery from DJ food which came in a broken box, a day earlier than expected (I was at home luckily) and was warm delivered by dpd instead of apc. I appreciate the heat we’ve had, but no excuse for this rancid meat which I’m having to bin! Particularly given the changes in packaging which is NOT stated on the website and certainly not fit for purpose. Shocked a food retailer has not complied with food standards agency!
Have emailed them but based on these reviews hold little hope for customer service. Such a shame because up until now I’d been so pleased (and spent a lot!)

I would not use again
I have used Malpass regularly and always been happy and if there has ever been a problem it was always resolved quickly I have just had an order delivered the meat was not cold and at room temperature so not safe to eat I contacted Malpass they said they would call back that day after talking to a manager 24 hrs later still no reply £75 worth of meat for for the bin and not so much as a sorry.
I will not be using them again can’t afford to just throw away because of poor packaging and meat not kept to a safe temperature

This is Malpass flamingo chicken (they call it Chinese chicken)

Tastes bad, colouring is awful and god knows what’s actually in it as the labels wear off

Ordered from Malpass a number of times and used their sores in Shoreham and when they had Sutton. Always was good quality and delivery was great. Recently had a delivery and have to say very disappointing. The portion sizes have reduced and the quality is nowhere near as good. A shame but i won't be using again.

I recently ordered from the new supplier re malpass just to see the beef,pork and especially the gammon joints were top class the burgers were awfull the chicken breast is smaller but still tasty
I will put another order in for the price you pay it’s very good

I've been using Malpass since January 2021, consistent great quality, good offers & range, delivery within the advised timescale.

Our latest delivery came from the North East, marked as D J Foods & Malpass confirmed they are now owned by them, also trading as The Fat Butcher (which explains why the offers & info on the website had changed, without any explanation).

Delivery was a day earlier than advised, which was inconvenient, but acceptable on this occasion. However, the quality of the meat was far inferior to past orders. Chicken breasts much smaller in size & tasteless no matter how they were cooked. Both the flavoured pork & chicken were very artificial tasting & not pleasant. Steak burgers were awful, tasteless, full of fat & I very much doubt them being 100% steak. Ribeye & sirloin steaks were aged more than previously but looked ok initially, however, when cooked there was lots of gristle & ended up throwing away about 25% of each steak.

From facebook comments it appears it's still Malpass original quality if you can buy direct from their shop(s), but online is now very poor, as per others comments there & here. Such a shame as I thought I'd found a quality supplier, but won't be buying from again now.

The quality has declined and the chicken breasts are half the size they were.. worst part is they delivered 2 days late on a Sunday!! and even after I sent a message to ask the driver to leave with my neighbour who would have stored it in his garage freezer which was was acknowledged! The box was left in my garden in heat of 22 deg!! thankfully my neighbour checked after an hour.. so thankfully a £109 order was saved, but I won’t buy from them again..

Excellent products and great value for money.

This is the fourth order we have had delivered. The meat is always high quality. And delivered very quickly in the appropriate packaging.

Quality and flavor is fantastic all the family enjoy from here, and delivered with care, order from here all the time now.

The chicken breasts were small watery bacon not the same quality as malpass used to be fillet steaks not great similarly the other steaks I had were not as good as the malpass steaks were. Malpass is now the fat butcher and quality has droppef

Most disappointing sirloin steak I have ever had. Big lumps of gristle and as tough as old boots, totally without flavour too. Have yet to try the rump and the sirloin joint but am not holding out any hopes. Parcel arrived open with half the sausages missing. I’m pleased I accepted a refund for these as I certainly wouldn’t be using a credit note.
