Mijn ervaring met Mastercard bij een geval van creditcardfraude is bijzonder teleurstellend. Ondanks duidelijke documentatie waaruit blijkt dat mijn creditcard onterecht en te hoog is belast, neemt Mastercard geen verantwoordelijkheid en verschuilt zich achter procedures en doorverwijzingen naar de uitgevende bank.
Wat vooral tegenvalt, is het gebrek aan daadwerkelijke controle en bescherming van de kaarthouder. Terwijl er sterke aanwijzingen zijn dat de incasserende partij uiterst dubieuze handelspraktijken hanteert, lijkt Mastercard deze signalen onvoldoende serieus te nemen. In plaats van op te treden tegen mogelijke misleiding, wordt de bewijslast vrijwel volledig bij de klant neergelegd.
De communicatie is daarbij onduidelijk en weinig behulpzaam. Reacties blijven algemeen, inhoudelijke argumenten worden nauwelijks besproken en aangeleverde documentatie lijkt niet grondig te worden beoordeeld. Voor een organisatie die wereldwijd bekendstaat om haar belofte van veilige betalingen, is dat ronduit zorgwekkend.
Als kaarthouder verwacht je dat Mastercard optreedt als beschermende schakel tussen consument en handelaar. In mijn geval heb ik die bescherming niet ervaren. Integendeel: het gevoel overheerst dat je er als consument alleen voor staat wanneer er daadwerkelijk iets misgaat.
Deze ervaring heeft mijn vertrouwen in Mastercard ernstig geschaad. Wie ervan uitgaat dat een creditcard automatisch extra veiligheid biedt bij fraude of onterechte afschrijvingen, komt mogelijk bedrogen uit.

Don't use this service
I rate them a one star as it is impossible to rate lower. I used them and paid to have a gift card shipped because last year the post office lost the gift card I sent and they don't insure. So I pay the fee, pay the ship charge and pay for the card. They shipped to the bill to address in stead of the ship to address defeating my purpose for using them. They purposefully give no option for rapid response customer service.

Une assurance surtout conçue pour ne jamais servir
Cette assurance liée à la carte bancaire est probablement lâune des plus inutiles auxquelles jâai eu affaire.
On paie une cotisation pour être couvert en cas de problÚme. Câest le principe même dâune assurance. Mais dans les faits, lorsque la situation pour laquelle vous êtes censé être couvert arrive, on découvre que les procédures sont interminables, que les justificatifs demandés sâempilent et que les réponses restent floues ou dilatoires.
TrÚs vite, on comprend le fonctionnement : les clauses semblent surtout écrites pour protéger lâassureur, pas lâassuré. Chaque étape donne lâimpression que tout est pensé pour compliquer la démarche et décourager toute indemnisation.
Le sentiment final est simple : on paie pour une protection qui, au moment où elle devrait jouer, devient quasiment théorique.
Service client peu aidant, traitement du dossier lent et opaque, et au final une impression trÚs désagréable dâavoir souscrit un produit qui protÚge surtout⊠lâassureur.
Conclusion : une assurance qui donne surtout lâimpression dâêtre là pour prélever une cotisation sans jamais assumer réellement la promesse faite au client.
Je déconseille fortement.

This was an attack caused by a nameless, faceless, future convict commandeering the Mastercard financial portals. Alerts in the banking app were turned off simultaneously to prevent me from learning of the theft. The motive was to endanger me financially. One month earlier a similar bank robbery occurred, with online payments drafted from the bank instead of charged to credit.

I received a Mastercard Prepaid as a refund from my apartment building management. I fulfilled all of the registration requirements and added it to my virtual wallet. In short, I went to a Shell station to get $10 in gas because some of the snow had cleared. My next stop was groceries. The kiosk rejected the card, so I ended up using my personal debit. Stopped at 7-11, and the clerk said only $2.74 was cleared and I owed the remaining amount. Confused, I came home and called the prepaid customer service and also looked at my online account. My balance was $0 instead of $177. After 50 minutes on the phone with an agent, turns out that - because I didn't go INSIDE TO PAY FOR GAS - the Shell station put A HOLD on my remaining funds for 5-7 business days. When I asked if there was any precaution to customers regarding GOING INSIDE OF A GAS STATION INSTEAD OF USING THE KIOSK - I was told no, but to be patient. Then I was told that in order to release the hold on my funds, I had to work with the gas station or call Shell (which isn't open until 8 AM on Monday). Not only is Mastercard Prepaid THE WORST, they don't protect or help customers from random merchants' allowances, they do not replace funds, they put the responsibility on the card holder to find their own resolution and they just shrug and say good luck, be patient. This is beyond repugnant and I am going to share my story across the internet and social media platforms because this is customer abuse and fraud.

Blackcatcard / Gekkard and Mastercard are not trustworthy. Between November and December last year, Mastercard Malta ran a campaign offering â¬20 cashback if 5 transactions of â¬20 were made, totaling â¬100 in purchases. I carried out these transactions but did not receive the â¬40 that was owed to me.
Blackcatcard / Gekkard took more than two months to reply, simply stating that I was not entitled to the campaign based on the transactions made. However, Blackcatcard / Gekkard and apparently Mastercard do not realize that I made the same type of payments/purchases through MeDirect Malta.
In short, Blackcatcard / Gekkard kept my money and simply decided not to pay me, clearly demonstrating fraudulent behavior.
