I heard about Mixergy tanks nearly two years ago. In wanting to find out more about them, I rang them up to find out how on earth it worked. I spoke to a really helpful person who explained how it had been developed by two guys at Oxford as a result of their DPhils. I love the way it works - so simple! At that point, it was so successful that Birmingham City Council were insalling them into their rental properties. I was pretty reassured by this.

Roll on 2023 and I'm now in a position where hopefully, I'll have my new tank installed soon - builders are booked for next month. I thought I'd have a quick Google to see how this very small company is doing. Seems like it's going stratospheric; even British Gas are now using them!! No wonder there's the odd comment saying they have a bit of a delay in getting hold of customer service etc, they must be so busy! Really looking forward to installing one. I'm going to make it high priority for my builders who are doing various things in the house, inc replacing my decades old copper hot water tank :)

Anybody thinking of installing one and your plumber has no idea how to do it, Mixergy also told me that they provide the training required so your plumber will know exactly what to do.

The Mixergy team are very helpful if we have any question’s. The feedback from our customer is fantastic and they love there Mixergy tanks are helping them save money. As it’s something new and me being a bit technophobic I managed to screw up my my product registration and lock up my Mixergy account .
I sent a message on the Mixergy message system and received a prompt call back from a really helpful chap who sorted out my account mess up and helped me get my new tank up and running . Great service , great product , well done Mixergy

All in all I do like the tank. I heat it with excess solar and in the winter I use price crashes on Octopus Agile (I'm on Flux for the summer).
My biggest gripe is the cleansing cycle that can't be turned off. I never ever want to heat my water with full price electricity (I heat water using a gas combi if there is no hot water in the tank). We should be able to make an informed choice as to whether we think there is a risk in domestic properties from Legionella (it's very low). As a result I have to keep my tank in holiday mode for months on end to stop it coming on. I can still heat the tank, and the display and app show how much hot water I have but it's not ideal.
An update. Shortly after I uploaded my review Ryan from Mixergy got in touch and remotely turned the cleansing cycle off for me. Excellent response, thanks very much Ryan.

Had a great efficient experience with support today. No hot water. Contacted support and got a quick call back and was then efficiently helped with the fix. Great conpany

We’ve had the Mixergy cylinder for almost 3 years now and it has been largely trouble free, saving energy and cash heating the water by diverted solar power. The only niggle is the ‘jagged’ graph when the sterilisation cycle operates every few weeks. This cycle uses the gas boiler and I think the boiler is short-cycling, but I (and Mixergy) can’t get to the bottom of it. But this product is definitely helping towards net zero, well done Mixergy!

I purchased a tank in June 2021. It took over 6-7 weeks to arrive and I arranged my own plumber to do the install (as I knew a really good one). The plumber had never seen anything like a Mixergy tank but as the tank is very similar to a standard tank, he installed in without any issues. I setup the app myself and everything has worked perfectly fine ever since.
As I have a smart home this tank fit perfectly with the rest of my energy saving systems and I regularly only heat up all my hot water needs in the summer by PV only (thanks to an EDDI already installed before the tank). Even when heating using my original boiler, I have saved a lot of gas (money) since my install. The tank performs perfectly and I have had no issues in the first 2 years.
I'd recommend a good plumber but I certainly recommend a Mixergy tank. Customer service at the start wasn't very good as I was calling every week trying to get my tank originally as it was delayed multiple times and I lost more money taking time off work than the tank was worth. After install, flawless.

We coupled it to our Solar Panels using a Myenergi Eddie to ensure that any surplus is used to heat our water rather than being exported. A sunny day now means full batteries, free energy and Hot Water!!

The App is very satisfying to use as you can see just how much hot water is being used. It has helped us to identify who is using hot water inefficiently with showers, baths etc.

We had ours fitted by British Gas at the same time as we replaced our boiler. They did an amazing job, although they appeared to be learning about the tech as they went along.

It has made such a difference to the way that we generate, consume and manage our hot water.It is also linked to our Hive App that now shows our hot water, boiler health and hot water levels. Love it!!

I was a big believe of the technology and had always wanted a Mixergy tank however after having 2 significant issues in under 1 year I've lost all confidence and trust.

Installed in October and had 2 significant issues already. We were recommended an installer to get the tank sorted. When the installers came it was one person and an apprentice. They were obviously out of their depth and did a rush job. The tank started bulging after only 5 months. I feel lucky that I spotted it. Mixergy were active in trying to arrange a replacement as soon as possible however it took 5 days to replace and we couldn't use hot/cold water in the shower without risking it bursting. This time they used a different installer rule out any possibility of a faulty installation.

3 months later, the replacement tank has leaked and this has caused damage to the chipboards and the ceiling below. I've tried to call Mixergy a number of times and I'm now waiting to hear back.

Great product, very controllerble via its app or as I have via our nest app. Already had a health report via email telling me the boiler is all ok, it’ll know there’s a problem before i do! The only criticism I have is with customer service communication, difficult to get a response initially but when they did respond gave a great service. Would have been 5 star if not for the communication.

One word for this product... Wow!

After an initial dodgy quote from an approved installer of £2600 MORE than I finally paid, I found a local company, who were so impressed with the product that they did the training and are now authorised ( thanks tor renewable heating solutions ltd)

Tank installed in a day, and after hard wiring to my network we were ready to go!

Set it up via the app, and had hot water in matter of minutes.
The app is easy to use, even if you're not technically minded.
I however don't use it. Mixergy also have a web API, and through this it's all linked to my Home Assistant. I wish mixergy had an official integration for this to expose the features I can't get to (yet)

Quick economical hot water, when I need it, fully pressurised and just amazing.

No hot water is generated when I'm away from home, again saving money

I was at first sceptical of the anti legionella feature, heating a full tank of water, but the tank is so well insulated, I just don't need heat water for a few days!

100% recommend!!
Yes, it's a little more expensive than a regular tank, but that's easily made back with its efficiency and it's future proofing.
Planning on adding solar or air source heat to it eventually, and the tank is ready for both these!

For some reason I can’t get the hot water from the tank to work consistently, for days everything will be good but then for like one or two days the water won’t get past warm

I am an installer and have installed several Mixergy hot water cylinders and I have to say they are a fantastic bit of technology.
If we do have any issues, they are quickly resolved by the customer service team.
I like being able to measure how much hot water is used on the app, heat what you need and fast heat up times.
I will soon be installing one at my own home.

Edit: Mixergy and MWPHS.co.uk sorted me out in the end. Mixergy covered additional cost of refit under warranty.

Tank arrived with a leak, and has caused delay and extra cost in my already costly construction project. Mixergy advise 3-5 weeks for replacement like for like (isn't it normally 4 weeks?!) and 1 week for a different tank that I assume is in stock (why 1 week if in stock, the retailer I bought from did next day!). I'm in a very urgent situation and have asked for something sooner, but not had a response to my email on the 17th. I'm sure it's a great tank, but don't expect sympathy when something goes wrong! I've had to keep chasing up on my case despite being promised updates from the team.

A Mixergy hot water cylinder is a smart, innovative, British product that really can reduce your energy consumption for your hot water. We have solar panels with batteries so our Mixergy cylinder has their solar diverter which takes our 'spare' solar generation and uses it to heat our hot water.

I've found the team at Mixergy to be helpful and knowledgeable.

I had a fault on my new tank as part of a new air source system installed. (a circuit board fuse broke) and I couldn’t get anyone to have a look at it so called Mixergy directly. I can’t explain how helpful Rob the technician was. He walked me through a fault on my new Mixergy tank on phone and video and my problem was solved after an hour of us trying to resolve it. This level of accountability for their product and helping me get a quick fix before the Easter break whilst no one else could do it is INVALUABLE! I have a lot of trust and time for Mixergy now (not so much for the installers). They have invested in people to give help when we need it after the sale has taken place. A Very rare experience these days.

The product is great and I’m really pleased with it - the phone technical support is also excellent and the engineers you speak to are clearly very capable and really want to help. I have had one issue but that was due to the installation rather than the product - all sorted out very professionally.

The Mixergy team are passionate about their product and provide excellent customer service and technical help. We had problems with the WiFi connection to the tank constantly dropping out but British Gas who sold and installed the tank didn’t seem to know how to provide follow up help so left us dangling with it running inefficiently for 5 months! However, mixergy stepped in, sorted the problem and gave us a lot of user tips and information that the fitters simply didn’t know. It would be great if all fitters were fully trained in all aspects of the tank, not just the fitting. Or maybe every installation could be followed up with a session with Mixergy to go through everything to make sure it’s all set up and running properly? We’re now looking forward to finally experiencing the system at its best.

The Mixergy Support Team have answered all our questions, clearly and promptly.
They have given advice and when necessary made adjustments to our settings.

I wanted the efficiency.... but wasn't prepared for the amount of pipes and issues (possibly caused my being plumbed into existing system by British Gas without replacing the synchro motors initially, I think there needs to be more 'joined up' thinking for quotes / install regarding solar diverters as well)
