The speed is rather good, but I had an issue once so far regarding the connection to the network.

It worked again after restarting my phone and re-entering the network profile in my settings though.

really great support team. I lost access to my email that I registered the SIM card with - ended up reordering a new one with an accessible email address (you will need one to activate your physical SIM card) - Support sorted it all out and provided a refund. Top stuff!

Their email customer service support and customer online portal (designed in the nineties?) is a joke. As others say there is no phone number or a chat so you have to send an email. The people the other end seem incapable of understanding a basic question written in English. Despite multiple responses not one answers the question I actually ask of them so it is going nowhere.
I bought a Japanese phone number and SIM. I uploaded my driver's licence and was told that the name on my application does not match my driver's licence.

Impossible.
Logging into my account (very poorly designed) I cannot see my surname so I am wondering if the system has lost my surname.
I have asked them what the issue is - all the responses are answering other questions.
I emailed care[at]mobal.com - 24 hours later no response.
UPDATE: Just received responses from the care [at] mobile.com team - they are real humans who can read emails and action accordingly. Now all sorted. Thank you!

I had an issue where the email address I used to place the order wasn't available in Japan. This is needed to activate the sim card. In the end I placed a new order with a useable email address. Support cancelled my original order and refunded the charges. Very happy outcome.

They're foreigners who run the company registered God knows where- in some third world legal loophole that makes them completely legally unaccountable.

In general the service is awfull, bad reception, it feels like your phone is fighting for its life trying to jump across wifis than a real mobile connection, your location jumps from one street to another when trying to figure out where you are on google maps, and if you have issues with them they will blame you for everything and call you a racist- that's hilarious, they really think they can weaponize that to dodge accountability, this is neither the UK nor US.

The comment they replied to me is full of shit, they blocked my country of origin, voiding all my payment methods and being unable to pay with either paypal or credit card, but then it "somehow" fixed itself and payment resumed- I assume they were fishing for my credit card details as I originally paid with Paypal. 12 hours ago I got a notification that I got a charge from mobal- how the hell did that happen when I told them to delete all my credit card info? they keep charging me now, I can't do anything from the site as my account is blocked, but I'll be dealing with both the legal system and the bank to end these dirty rats.

Straightforward, no issues, did the job

Fast delivery of SIM cards. Easy to instal, fast data, no connection issues. Brilliant reliable service.

The sim arrived super fast, instructions were clear (although I haven't left my country yet so I hope it will work fine in Japan). I thought it was more straight forward and was surprised I had to enter special data in the settings for using an android.

Easy to use, great service. No problems whatsoever.

I have never used an eSim before, nor had I travelled to Japan, but Mobal made both very easy and straightforward.

The price was excellent compared to using my network's own process for phone usage in Jaapan, and the instructions for installing the eSim were straightforward and easy to follow (my advice would be to do this at home with a WiFi connection, or failing that use hotel/cafe WiFi to do the set up). When I landed in Japan, I had instant connection as soon as I turned my phone back on, and it worked perfectly throughout the 10 days of my trip no matter where I was in Tokyo or Osaka, even on the underground metro.

Mobal helped enhance my trip no end, making it easy to use my mobile for all the services I would usually use back home and to stay in touch with friends in county.

I honestly cannot recommend Mobal enough.

Mobal network provider is great for frequent travellers to Japan; they also provide excellent service to those short stay tourist either using a physical or e-sim user. If you are not a techie person like me; it can help to go over the tips provided; and for those who plans to avail of their monthly service; my suggestion is if you are entering Japan in the later part of the month; if you can, you may choose to avail on the next business day of the month so your coverage will be maximize.

I received no local tracking or updates for more than a week after the parcel arrived in Australia. When I contacted local DHL for assistance they told me they couldn't help me because I am not the sender. When I contacted Modal they took 3 days to respond and their advice was that I could purchase another card. Not helpful. Then Australia Post delivered the parcel to the wrong address - their delivery photo shows a mailbox which is clearly not ours. Now I'm in another country with no sim card. Thanks for nothing.

edit: Mobal have since followed up and provided a full refund, with explanation of the replacement process and options. Good service. Thank you.

A super reliable, very efficient and trustworthy company, one of THE BEST of its kind and(!) - very reasonably priced with an outstanding customer service. I must highly recommend. MOBAL FOREVER!!! Truly.

once it was installed & activated, it just worked. except it would not received texts via Apple Messages; i had to swap in my USA esim for a few minutes to get an approval code. it needs to be able to work with Apple Messages. other than that, i didn't even notice it. a good sign.
activating it was a pain until i got decent airport wifi. i think instructions need to be clearer for inexperienced people. i installed it at home (USA) but that didn't fix the problem of activation.

This is the worst company I have ever used. Avoid Mobal at all costs.
Their pricing is completely unreasonable. Calls are charged at absurd rates, far beyond what you would expect from any modern carrier. For what you pay, the service quality is unacceptable.
Mobile data is unreliable and often does not work at all. Even with correct setup, the connection fails, leaving you with a phone that cannot perform basic functions. This defeats the entire purpose of having a mobile plan.
For a company operating in a country with advanced mobile infrastructure, the experience feels outdated and poorly managed. There is a clear gap between what they charge and what they actually deliver.
There are far better alternatives available. This service is not worth the cost, the frustration, or the time spent trying to make it work.

The process was smooth from the date/time of my landing up to getting the SIM card from the agent.

I’ve just landed in Japan and honestly couldn’t be more impressed with this eSIM! The setup was unbelievably quick and easy, I was connected within minutes with zero hassle.

Product was difficult to install, support took hours and days to help. Once the 10 GB data was used the slow data would not even enable me to navigate with Google Maps.

Uninstalling the eSIM caused severe issues with going back to original eSIM.

I will NEVER recommend Mobal. Horrible experience.
