Misleading promises, terrible communication and a complete waste of time!
Absolutely appalling experience with Mr. Plumber. I would strongly advise anyone needing an urgent repair to think twice before using this company.
I contacted them on Thursday because my heating wasnât working. I made it VERY clear from the beginning that my priority was getting the problem fixed ASAP. I specifically told them that if they couldnât do it quickly, I would find another company.
I was reassured that an engineer would attend on Friday and that the issue would hopefully be resolved by Monday. Based on that reassurance, I agreed to proceed.
The engineer arrived on Friday, spent approximately ONE MINUTE looking at the thermostat, told me it needed replacing, and left. I was then expecting a quotation, but nothing arrived on Friday.
Monday came, and still nothing. I had to chase them myself, only to be given excuses about their system being slow and the engineerâs paperwork not being processed in time.
Eventually, they sent me a quote for £268, which I was happy to accept, provided they attended on Tuesday as I had been told. I even confirmed this in writing by replying to their email.
Tuesday came. No engineer. No phone call. No update.
Once again, I had to chase THEM!
This time, I was told that nobody should have promised me a date in the first place and that the earliest they could now attend was THURSDAY!
So something I was initially led to believe could be resolved by Monday was suddenly being pushed back an entire week!
Had they been upfront about their availability from the beginning, I would NEVER have instructed them.
Frustrated, I cancelled the repair, contacted another company on Tuesday, and guess what? They attended, replaced the thermostat, and had my heating working THAT SAME DAY!
And to make matters worse, Mr. Plumber now expects me to pay £108 including VAT for the initial call-out, despite the delays, poor communication and failure to deliver the urgent service I had specifically requested.
My biggest issue isnât simply the money. Itâs the fact that I chose this company based on the timescale they gave me, wasted days chasing them, and ultimately had to arrange the repair elsewhere.
If you cannot deliver an urgent service, BE HONEST WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS FROM THE START!
Extremely disappointing experience. I certainly wonât be using Mr. Plumber again.

Initial Contact & Diagnosis: You contacted us on Friday 9th October, and our engineer, Liam, attended the same day to diagnose the faulty programmer.
Quote & Scheduling: A quote was generated and sent to you on Monday 12th October. As per our standard terms, we require explicit quote acceptance from the customer before we can order specific parts and lock in an engineer's schedule.
Appointment Date: When you called us on Tuesday 13th October, our records showed the quote had not yet been accepted. Jade also sent a text message on the 13th explaining that the repair was scheduled for Thursday 15th October to allow for part ordering and delivery.
Liam carried out the full diagnostic visit on Friday as requested, which is why the £108 call-out charge remains valid. While we understand heating issues are frustrating, our team acted promptly at every step once procedures were followed. We wish you all the best.
