I was happy with the service I received from National tyres at Bishop Stortford today
They told how long it took to complete and were very helpful I took out the extended warranty and if anything happens I know they will help

​I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. They held my car for 9 days for a job that should have been simple. The reason? They ordered the wrong part and left the car sitting there, even though the correct part was actually in stock and available.
​The lack of communication was staggering. Not once in those 9 days did anyone call me with an update; I had to constantly chase them just to find out what was happening with my own vehicle.
​To make matters worse, the payment process was a total disaster:
​I set up Payment Assist, signed all the paperwork, and paid my deposit upfront.
​When I arrived to pick up the car, they told me the application had "expired" on their end.
​Because I had to re-apply, the second application was declined due to my current status.
​I was forced to borrow money on the spot just to get my car back.
​I still haven’t received my original deposit back from the first Payment Assist application. The entire experience was totally ridiculous and unprofessional from start to finish. Save yourself the stress and go literally anywhere else.

I had travelled to Cardiff from Carmarthen and on leaving the John Lewis car park at 5pm discovered I had a nail in my tyre. The first two tyre companies I visited could not repair the puncture that day as they were fully booked. My last hope was National Tyres who I usually use. Thankfully Jamie and Mark were very helpful and sorted the puncture out very quickly allowing me to drive home. Thanks very much for your excellent customer service.

I see it would appear that NT and Halfords are back to the old dodge of hiking up the price of the tyres prior to their 20% off Easter promotion when you buy 4 tyres.
The 4 tyres I purchased online/web order cost £114.39 each fitted yesterday including the discount whereas remarkably the same tyre price today is £140.99 so if the 20% discount is applied it would cost £112.79.
So the discount is not applied to the previous selling price which is the impression given sounds a bit dodgy to me.

On a plus point It is very good that they do have a 20% off 3 brands promotion compared to other tyre supply and fit companies who do not have such good % discounts more usually a fixed sum of money off a certain number of tyres fitted.

The actual fitting of the tyres in Inverness was well done and in good time once the work/job started.
Unfortunately the parking area available was a joke as there was none available infact they use Screwfix parking bays across the road for overflow.

The actual depot waiting area is much the same as it was 40 years ago with some fresh paint and new uncomfortable chairs.
I monitor the web prices and they do not not seem to change in a week normally.

Please do take your car here unless you want to get scammed out of money. A simple mot turned into paying £700 for things that is not work that amount of money. Very sexist and will scam a woman

Booked and paid for 4 new tyres prior to my MOT. Got a call the day before to tell me my tyres were no longer in stock and that they would issue a refund that would take up to 7 working days. Left with no tyres and no money. Absolute joke 'customer service' who done nothing to resolve it.

I took my car in for a free exhaust check after my engine management light came on. I provided the diagnostic fault code at the time and explained that I believed the issue was likely the sensor. I was told this would be checked. An hour later I was informed that the exhaust had been resealed and that this had resolved the issue. Unfortunately, the engine light came back on a few days later.
I rebooked the car and clearly explained when dropping it off that the exhaust had already been resealed during the previous visit and that the problem was still ongoing. I again offered the diagnostic code but was told it wasn’t needed as they would run their own diagnostic.

I heard nothing all day. When I called at around 4pm, I was told they were too busy to call me and that once again they had resealed the exhaust — despite me already explaining that this had been done before and had not fixed the issue. Only after I questioned this did they finally run a diagnostic check, which confirmed the exact same fault code I had originally provided weeks earlier, based on this code they suggest the sensor would need replacing which I mentioned on my first visit, by that point it was too late in the day to do the work.

If the diagnostic had been run in the morning as originally stated, this could have been resolved. Instead, my time was wasted, unnecessary work was repeated, and the issue still remains unresolved after 2 visits. Absolute waste of time, I will not be returning and would not recommend.

Very poor, service booked 3 weeks in advance, 09:00 appt, car not even touched or even "authorised", absolute waste of everyone's time, could not even be bothered to ring and advise of this, certainly wont be going there again, seems like they push lease cars to the back of the queue each time, avoid.

Very unhappy after I was charged £38.64 to supply and fit one break light bulb for a Volkswagen polo and also I was not given a price .They also said that they tried to ring me which they didn’t ,when I arrived at the garage I was given a bill for £38.64 ,which Ipaid also afterwards I went on line and checked the going rate for bulb replacement and then I realisedthat I had been ripped off and as far as I’m concerned that this is a form of discrimination as this would not have happened if I was a man !This is not a good way to run a business because I will never go back again and is their loss.

Poor ‘full service’ experienced at Cannock branch. Had to have my Ford repaired at another garage following my service and they showed me evidence of a poor service and bits that was not checked or replaced even though paperwork said it had been!
Still waiting for a response from National/Halfords

In the last month I have taken 3 of my vehicles into Autocare Tiverton and they have been so helpful. The guy on reception was brilliant and although stressed on a Friday afternoon and a busy garage he took my vehicle and worked on it quickly as he knew I had frozen food shopping in the back. They were running late but I arrived for my booking and was swiftly seen to.
Can’t fault these guys and I would recommend to anyone. The Halfords website isn’t easy to navigate but a quick call to them and they talked me through what I was asking for.

My online order was confirmed, stating my 1st choice of date and time window for a mobile fitting service.
Next day an email arrived advising me that my fitting date was changed to my 2nd choice as the fitter was not available.
I decided to call, to see if this might happen again. After being on hold for 20 minutes I decided to reply to my email. I was notified the email address was no longer monitored.
After a total of 1 hr, having been frustrated by chat bot, frequently asked questions and Halfords Customer Services, I ended up getting through. By now, I was in no mood to ask any questions. I gave instructions to cancel my order and requested a full refund and for a confirmation email that my order has been cancelled.
Robert was very professional and did as I asked, but at no time did he apologise for my inconvenience or offer an explanation as to why it was so hard to contact Customer Services.
I will never use this company’s On-line service again.

" National tyres Lancashire " and the awesome bunch of lads that work there definitely from my experience has to be a five star, from the get go they went above and beyond for my benefit, I booked the earliest appointment available on line for a 2pm appointment, I explained Im on holiday in lake district and time was precious and if there was any cancellations please let me know, with that said they told me if I brought it in first thing in the morning they would get me done which they did in no time 4 tyres, also took out the insurance deal which was £10.99 a wheel, I understood it at £10.99 for the full set, when it came to payment I realised it was to much for me at that moment after purchasing 4 new tyres, Chris was awesome and only charged me a fraction of bill..Chris the manager and Abraham on reception and all the lads who I was chatting to was all I great bunch of lads and friendly, felt like a day out rather than something that needed to get done, will be back again for my m.o.t next mth..Thank you to everyone there 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍

Did my research online regarding price etc, chose Halfords auto centre (national tyres) as my chosen retailer.
Arrived for my appointment and car was taken and and work commenced.
My car has painted wheels and body kit so I was a little nervous that there maybe damage while jacking it up due to the body kit restricting trolly jack entry and also the possibility that when changing tyres that the tyre machine may damage my painted alloy wheels.
Ultimately the staff understood my concerns and actually moved my car to an MOT bay so that they could lift the vehicle from underneath bypassing the body kit.
All 4 tyres were changed without issue aswell as TPMS service, front wheel alignment and I also purchased the halfords tyre warranty for each new tyre for piece of mind.
All in all I was very impressed with the price and overall service so highly recommend there tyre services.

Had a great experience with there mobile fitter today came and fitted 4 tyres was very knowledgeable and extremly curtious and polite a credit to your company

National Tyres and Autocare in Bishop's Stortford have been phenomenal. They've been so accommodating to me and my family whilst I've been abroad; cleaning my brakes and allowing the car to remain on site to accommodate my parents picking the car up. I have already said that I wouldn't trust another garage with my car, but after this excellent customer service and how accommodating they've been, my Grandad and parents are also going to use this garage in the future. I appreciate their kindness and how supportive they've been in terms of making adjustments to fit with my schedule; and I cannot thank them enough. Absolutely brilliant.

Arrived at 8:20 outside the branch in Coalville. My car was put on the ramp 10 minutes later. I was back in my car at 9:15. Now the reason for choosing a local tyre supplier/fitter before work was that it would fit in before work. 45 minutes to fit 2 front tyres is far too slow too me. When completing the paperwork before leaving I was handed back 2 separate pieces of my key ring - it had been broken. When I pointed that out Craig gave me a very insincere "Sorry about that" and then quickly started to talking out loud whatever was on his screen. When I told him that 45 minutes to fit 2 new tyres was too long, he started to tell me about all the H&S procedures they have to follow. Well I have had plenty of cars over the last 37 years, plenty of replacement tyres and no where I have ever used previously has taken that long! Actually half that time. So my advice would be if you have loads of time to wait then consider National. However beware, the keyring was not expensive, however it was the principle - tried to pass it off initially as 'come apart' and then when challenged given an insincere 'sorry'. Be cautious if they damage break anything whilst you're there - you car!!! What ownership will they take?

The service was fine. However, the staff are not trained in safety. I was in a potentially dangerous situation and asked your staff for help and they announced I had asked for help in front of the person I was asking for help from making the situation much worse. Thankfully a friend had arrived. Please educate your staff.

Upon inspection of my Renault Captur , it became apparent that the rear brake shoes and cylinders needed replacing and I was quoted a price of £585 . I queried the price over the phone before giving the go ahead and upon collecting my car I again questioned the bill with Dawn , the centre manager who showed me the defective shoe . The car is now functioning as it should and having brought the car to the garage on a Saturday , I was driving by Monday which I thought was pretty quick .
My best friend who was a centre manager at Kwik Fit , Bromley and has now retired to France said the following when I spoke to him several days later “ I can sort of live with the cost of the brake shoes ( £224 ) and fluid renewal ( 54.99 ) but that price to supply and fit rear wheel cylinders ( £306 ) is scandalous “ For clarity , he added that to replace a brake cylinder at the same time as a brake shoe should take 5 minutes per side .
In conclusion, it does seem that if you want to be returned to the road sharpish then you have to take a financial hit when you are mechanically challenged as indeed many people are .
I actually like the crew at National Rock Ferry and am loath to complain. I’m also now aware as I’m sure every other mechanical technician reading this would be , that National/ Halfords have at least £200 more of my money than they actually should .

Went in today to have two new tyres, knowing I had an alignment problem (that a previous garage couldn’t sort)
Lee and his team sorted the tyres and the alignment issue no problem!
Highly recommended, great job done by a great, friendly and helpful team
