Having reviewed my existing will it was time for updates and my partner to actually start one
On contacting Nelson’s at Derby we met with Heidi Van Rooyen who with patience took both of us through the processes required, highlighted an issue we had not even thought about, and completion of both wills which we are grateful for and gave us peace of mind
Always contactable for questions, updates were answered promptly nothing was an issue
On walking through the door to leaving a very professional team certainly recommended

We contacted Nelsons to update my mother in laws Will. I was very impressed by the work carried out by their representative Skye. This was not an easy assignment as my mother in law was 92y old and hard of hearing. Skye was very professional throughout the process and explained everything in a way my mother in law was able to understand. Skye was also very helpful in providing additional information regarding the Probate process and where to find mre information. Based on the service we received I would not hesitate in contacting Nelsons to carry out work on my behalf.

I cannot express the relief and gratitude I feel to Nelson’s solicitors in dealing with my concerns. Ronny Tang could not have been more helpful and diligent to the detail of my case. I would absolutely use Nelson’s solicitors again and recommend Nelson’s to my family and friends.

My late uncle used Nelsons over many years and on his passing we decided to use them to help with his estate. The service we received from Nadia and the team was first class. Everything was clearly and concisely explained to us at each stage in what was a complex matter and we were regularly informed of any progress. No hesitation in recommending Nelsons for all legal matters

Louise Scott was so good at explaining the process, keeping me informed of every step taken and perfect at reassuring me when things started to worry me. Going through a divorce is an extremely stressful time and I found her to be extremely understanding.

I have never felt the need to leave a negative review for any businesses prior to this. After what i've experienced, I thought i must share this to avoid any other persons from going through the same hardships and heartache i've had to go through.

I had a very disappointing experience dealing with Nelsons Solicitors during the assignment of a commercial lease.

The firm was appointed by the landlord, but I was required to pay the legal fees. What should have been a relatively straightforward lease assignment became extremely expensive and frustrating.

The matter was handled by a partner of the firm, which made the overall experience even more surprising. Communication throughout the process was slow and often unresponsive. Draft documents frequently took a long time to come through, and when they did arrive many of them were not workable according to my own solicitors and had to be sent back for further revision. This created significant stress and delays for our project, not to mention additional costs and fees on my end outside the already massively inflated budget - thanks to their slow responses.

What was most frustrating was the final cost. The bill came to around £14,000, which was far higher than what other professionals in the pharmacy sector had indicated would normally be expected for this type of commercial lease assignment - typically less than HALF that if not perhaps usually 1/3 or 1/4 of that cost - i know this for a fact as these were regularly dealt with by the other firm which i'm familiar with. This level of cost was not clearly indicated in advance. The explanation given was that there had been multiple revisions, however many of those revisions appeared to arise from issues within the earlier drafts which they did not complete properly themselves. It was difficult to understand how the level AND quality of work carried out could reasonably justify a bill of that size.

Because the firm was acting for the landlord and the lease assignment had to go through them in order for the deal to proceed, there was very little ability to challenge the escalating fees without risking the project itself. By that stage we had already invested heavily in the transaction and had no realistic option but to proceed.

Following completion, I later spoke directly with the landlord and was told that they had experienced similar difficulties with the same solicitor and had previously raised a complaint with another partner at the firm. Unfortunately, they indicated that nothing appeared to come of it. It is pretty shocking that the solicitor had to be chased multiple times to move things ahead as well throughout the entire timeline - from my perspective it certainly seemed like they couldnt be bothered with our project.

Overall, the experience left me feeling that the costs were disproportionate to the work involved, and the level of service fell well below what I would expect from a professional legal firm. If it were possible to give zero stars, I would.

Based on my experience, the lack of transparency and professionalism throughout this process means I will certainly not be returning to this firm or recommending their services to anyone we know. The matter was handled by a partner of the firm whose initials are S.S., which made the overall experience even more surprising.

Nelson's handled the conveyancing on my new house purchase.
Lewis Pepper was thorough, professional & more importantly he kept us constantly updated with the process.
Ive bought plenty of houses over the years & Nelson's was by far my best experience.

Would like to give zero but not allowed
Nottingham litagation dept , accepted an insurer claim . I paid £3,600 upfront on the understanding the insurer would reimburse.
The solicitor repeatedly told me not to speak to insurer as he could get better terms.
All the while he knew having already worked with insurer that their terms were un negotiable.
The solicitor continued running up charges £4,000+++ all knowing he had not signed terms and l would have to pay whole costs .
Extremely poor work and only 2 letters wrote with a huge error for the above
bill . In my opinion and experience the firm was dishonest

Having used Simpson Jones Solicitors in Derby several times and been more than happy with the service and costs, however, Nelson’s took them over and more than doubled costs.

Absolutely diabolical way to run a business by frightening away all your loyal customer base.

We had dealings with Nelson’s before and I can confirm the service received from them was far from satisfactory.

I have made a complaint to them today on the telephone to be more or less told “sorry but we don’t care”

Anyone reading this will have the same experience so STAY WELL CLEAR!

Haidee dealt with the sale of my late daughter's flat. I was extremely impressed with her efficiency and professionalism, the whole process was literally seamless from start to finish. I would definitely use Nelsons again.

I accompanied my mother today who had an appointment for 12pm with Bianca in order to go through the process of sorting her will out. We arrived at 11:55am to reception where we were seated and after a short period we were taken to a meeting room. By 12:30pm there was no sign of the solicitor and by 12:55pm still no one had arrived. At this point we got up and walked out. No communication as to what was happening or why the solicitor was late coming. After being recommended by family to use Nelsons and seeing the good reviews we obviously came to the conclusion this was the best solicitors to use but going on my experience I can safely say we will not be recommending them. Would like to add aswell no communication has been made by them to apologise for this.

I used nelsons after being reccomended by another firm who was unable to deal with my case.
Ronny tang from the contentious team was appointed to lead my case to sort a dispute over my late fathers estate with a sibling.
Ronny was efficient and got the result i wanted. I would highly recommend nelsons and Ronny for any simular cases.

I am very pleased that I appointed Nelsons to handle my divorce case. They ensured that the most appropriate solution in terms of a pension sharing order was applied as this was not initially applied by my ex wife's solicitor. The original arrangements were not to my advantage. Emma Davies initially handled my case and Emma Riding took it to the conclusion. I am so glad that I came to Nelsons.

We made our wills with advice from Nadia at Nelson's in Leicester. She was very knowledgeable, explained everything and was very easy to talk to. Highly recommended.

Nelson’s solicitors or Else as they were, are absolutely useless. Used them for a case and not only did it cost me a lot of money on there bill but my original offer of compensation I was offered before I got these involved I lost that as well!!

After I spoke to a solicitor there who said I was owed considerably more, he said leave it with he would write a letter and that would trigger a larger payout, so I left it in his hands…… it took him nearly 12 months just to write a letter. The company who owed me the money just ignored his email!! then in the end the solicitor wouldn’t get in touch with me, only to pay his bill after that he ignored my calls and emails he was always busy never, unfortunately he wrote one letter for me and the company who owned my the money then ignored me so I lost there original offer. In the end I found out the solicitor who was responsible for my case had left the firm, he didn’t tell me he just went! Absolutely terrible. Awful company wouldn’t use them for write a message board never mind anything legal!!!

All else or Nelsons were concerned about was getting their pound of flesh for the letter which cost the best part of a £1,000.
So with the £4,000 I was offered before I spoke to the solicitors and their bill £1,000 I lost £5,000.

Rather than just excepting the £4,000 they originally offered me.

A lesson solicitors only care about them self’s they promised me everything and I got nothing. I really wish I accepted company’s original offer of £4,000 and not got any solicitor involved. Especially not these!!!!

This case started in 2023 and was with them over 12 months!

I've been using Nelsons since 2022 for mainly advice with multiple work pensions that I have accumulated during my career. The advice and support from Samuel Cawley has always been excellent, including with a work pension, which Nelsons weren't managing at the time. The (ongoing) advice is always clear and well-explained and all questions and alternative options are discussed providing a very thorough service. I would absolutely recommend them for this type of financial work.

This has been my first experience with Nelsonslaw, but not with the person I dealt with, which helped considerably in my eventual decision to use this company.
My affairs are now in the hands of this company and I have every confidence that they will continue to be handled in a professional and efficient way.

I've been with Nelsons since 1990. Mainly with the Financial Investment people. Generally I've been pleased, although sometimes there have been some bloopers! Finance is a weird thing, because you never know if you could have done better somewhere else! But they are nice people to deal with, so the bloopers just about get sorted, eventually...
