I expected the stairway to look good, what I didn't anticipate was the outstanding professionalism and service levels from everyone at Neville Johnson, that I have been in contact with. As a professional buyer, specialising in Services, I rarely encounter companies that deliver to such a high standard in all aspects of a project.

What a Excellent and professional company from start to finish. Kept you updated what was going on. The staircase looks great. Thank you very much. Would recommend.

We recently had an installation in our dining room by Neville Johnson the work from design to installation was first class. This is our second project by Neville Johnson so we knew we would have a great experience from design to completion. Everyone involved were extremely helpful and professional we would thoroughly recommend Neville Johnson without hesitation.

From start to finish all the Neville Johnson staff I encountered were professional yet warm. I took advantage of the sale and although it was still expensive the finished product looks outstanding, the workmanship is fantastic and the installation guy came and completed the whole job from start to finish on his own in one day and he left the area spotless. I am delighted with my new oak and glass bannister and balcony it looks fantastic, worth the money! I would highly recommend them. Thank you 🤩

Poor customer service.

We’ve being trying to arrange a visit to get an initial quote. The last appointment was cancelled by one of their team only to say he will contact us when he was back from Taunton. A month later, haven’t heard anything. I won’t be chasing them AGAIN!

Well what can I say except excellent & beautiful when I open my front door and there is the refurbished stairs I think WOW , there was a small hiccup but it was soon rectified and ever so easy to deal with and nice to deal with and the french polisher Matt was amazing and such a lovely person to have working in your home ,I would definitely recommend this company they are worth every penny

Do not use! We had a staircase fitted back in mid March. It has taken 5 months for Neville Johnson to get somewhere close to getting finished to a reasonable standard. 3 attempts to replace and repair. All needing time off work. They sell themselves as a blue chip joinery company... Go to your local company as you are just a number passed from pillar to post, there are so many departments. Then on one try to get the staircase repaired we find out they farm out the manufacture its not done in house. No quality control before it gets to site twice the items sent down for the repair did not even fit together.
Still not happy with the finish considering the money paid, it should have been the main focus of the house. They have offered a small compensation amount that does not even cover the time taken off work.
Dont think you are buying bluechip quality you are not just paying for multi layers of management.

Additional note.
Neville Johnson replay with a note saying they will look in to the issue. I have heard nothing from them. Over priced and to may departments. Go local and avoid the pain we have had over 5 months.

UPDATE
Having had a few very positive conversations with the customer service department an amicable resolution has been agreed between us both. Now the staircase has been completed we can start to enjoy this to the full.

Design meeting & the final design were great, although we were looking for something quite simple for our dressing room. First fitter was great but identified that the surveyor hadn’t done an accurate job & the draws were the wrong dimensions so would need re-making. Also the free standing shelf unit had only been finished properly on one side, not both as needed. Also 3 doors had bowed so would need replacing. Finally, the shelf supports were not included either.

Fitting Manager visited to inspect & promised that all errors would be fixed but it might take a while. Second fitting appointment kept and new items were fitted. However, the replacement draws didn’t shut properly & the replacement doors were also just as bowed as the first. The fitter sent in a report to “management” but over a week later we haven’t heard from anyone at the company about when we can expect the job to be finished or what financial compensation we should expect.

So far I’m very unimpressed & wish we’d gone with another company.

Excellent after sales service almost eight years after installation of an office system with drawers and filing units in a domestic property. One of the file drawer units stopped closing automatically and Neville Johnson had no problem in organising an assessment visit followed promptly by a fitter arriving and fitting the new parts.

I had been considering for some time how I should revitalise my gloomy and less than attractive stair case and stair well. Eventually I decided to bite the bullet and get on with the project which would involve the installation of a solar tube, plastering,decoration etc. But the most import part was what to do about the staircase. So I contacted Neville Johnson who arranged for Magnus to visit and discuss our needs. He was incredibly helpful in both making a choice of styles as well as giving some tips on removing unwanted squeaks. The next part of the process was a visit from their surveyor who ensured that accurate plans were drawn up. Then a date was set (at our convenience) for the work to be done, which was incredibly completed in one day and done to a very high standard.
I am really really pleased with the result. The finished job was stunning and looks magnificent. I would highly recommend Neville Johnson to anybody considering this type of project.

Great design process and perfect installation and finishing. The new staircase is the final touch in a great formation!

We are very happy with our new Neville Johnson staircase. The fitting detail was exceptional and only one small comment midway through construction was dealt with promptly. After installation the stairs and landing was left clean and old stairs/offcuts removed.
Just one criticism was that walls and ceiling affected by changes was our responsibility to rectify, which we were aware of from the start so it didn’t feel like a complete job. However, the transformation was so brilliant this can be overlooked and dealt with during decorating.
Overall, very satisfied and so pleased we used this company. We would definitely use them again for any similar jobs.

The salesman was good. The surveyor was excellent and spent hours at my house making all the measurements, taking photos. The staircase arrived early (6:30am) and the fitters soon after. They were very meticulous. The finished product which is absolutely first class in every way. Quality is lovely and I am extremely pleased with it.

Excellent service from beginning to the end of our new stair railing installation; from the visit of the salesperson to the installation. Very professional. Communication superb throughout. Would highly recommend.

Very Professional from initial contact all the way through the project. Good quality and finish with a very skilled craftsman sent for our installation.

Having looked around at fitted wardrobe providers (and getting shocked by the rubbish quality offered at exorbitant prices), we contacted NJ for a visit.

The very busy designer contacted us and offered a visit on a weekday date that was hardly convenient for us. (Please note that if you are not retired yet, or working from home, getting a weekend visit from an NJ designer might be a hard thing to do). Anyway, the visit was OK but were told that Nigel the designer was so busy that it would take at least a week before he could afford any time for our designs. We waited. In the meanwhile, we visited the Guildford showroom (a cold, and mouldy-smelling place on a rainy day) to see styles and colours. The person there seemed very busy doing online shopping and when she finished she tried to appear helpful (in reality she could not care less).

The designer demanded that we pay a visit in person to the showroom to hear his much-anticipated presentation, immediately upon which were required to pay the deposit (30%) in order not to miss the July sales! We made clear that under no circumstance we were going to make a decision on the spot. We'd need some material to study and get back with questions and - as a matter of course - get a quote valid for at least 30 days. Under pressure, he "offered" to send us a quote (!), but he outrightly refused to send us anything before or after his earth-stuttering presentation. His "intellectual property" was at stake, if he did, as he stated in his email... (But, he graced us with agreeing to a Teams meeting). We refused to have anything further to do with him pointing out that his approach was just dishonest. So, we never got to see their precious designs and were left with the impression of a truly arrogant person (at best) or of a snake-oil salesman (at worst).

PS. Since submitting the review, NJ has been busy bullying, harassing and intimidating us to withdraw the comment, but never offering any apology for the unethical as well as illegal behaviour of their employee. They seem only concerned about their reputation!

So, be careful if you decide to do business with them and never even fell for the "sales" trick!

We had two new bedrooms fitted. NJ did a wonderful job in the design and fitting process. The end product was fantastic quality. NJ's design consultant, Jamie, was brilliant throughout and really helpful. The fitters did an amazing job. Four days of hard work finished to the highest of standards. They were polite and efficient throughout - thoroughly professional. We couldn't have been more delighted with the end result.
We have used NJ before, so our expectations were high anyway, but they still managed to exceed them.
Would thoroughly recommend this company for large fitting projects.

First two visits to choose design and measure for stairs were professional and friendly. Fitting was set back a few days due to, I believe, complexity of the design. Fitting was completed in 2 days. Very pleased with the new stairs and landing rail.

Quality disappointing for the price. After a number of visits to resolve the issues, the result is not what was promised and will always be a bit of a botched job. In hindsight the cheaper suppliers could have been a better choice.

We placed an order to have our staircase renovated and have never received such poor customer service. We're now waiting for our deposit to be refunded as they've decided they can't complete the work they quoted for.
I'm not sure how this company is still running, so many false promises and hours wasted chasing people that never get back to you.
Be very careful before you hand any money over to them and search other websites to see their terrible reviews.
