Impossible to cancel

My parents inherited some weeks with RCI through which we had some enjoyable holidays as a family. However, when Dad got ill and died, Mum decided to give up the points. RCI have been less than helpful, not giving full information when asked, leaving a grieving family already dealing with paperwork having to chase up before getting another bill. If we filled out a very complicated form wrong, there was no follow-up. Luckily we decided to follow up ourselves, which has led to several long-winded, circuitous phone calls and emails sent to the wrong address. Would not recommend joining up.

I would give zero stars if I could

I would give zero stars if I could. We got 4 RCI bonus weeks and we’re told that these are free weeks and only the fee of $299 would apply when exchanged. That s what was said at signing the contract. Now, no one tells you that you still have to pay USD12,000 as all inclusive fees!!!! How is this free stay? For this amount of money I can buy 2 weeks of all inclusive vacation for 4 people myself out of pocket. What is free or bonus here?…complete scam.

Utnyttjar äldre människor på ett…

Utnyttjar äldre människor på ett fruktansvärt sätt. Min moster har varit medlem i många år. Varje gång hon försökt säga upp slutar det med att hon tecknat ytterligare längre /dyrare avtal. 84 år gammal och sjuk och kan inte resa längre. Hon ringer och säger upp sitt medlemsskap och får bekräftat att allt är avslutat. Inom någon månad kommer en ny faktura. Hon ringer igen får samma svar, allt är ok. Nu kommer en ny faktura från deras UK avdelning som hävdar det inte är uppsagt hos honom, att hon måste betala minst usd 400 för att de inte ska stämma henne. Inte ens deras egen support kan se att det finns ngt mer delavtal i UK men de står på sig. Helt galet att de får hållas när del av deras affärsidé är att låsa in gamla människor i avtal de inte förstår.

conning tourists

During my first visit to Las Vegas, which was also my first vacation in 12 years, I was with my significant other who suffers from congestive heart failure with only 11% of his heart functioning. While at the MGM Grand Casino, we were approached by a woman offering free vouchers. She claimed they were running a promotion and that if we visited another one of their resorts, we would receive $100 in food vouchers, $200 in free play, and a $50 cash reimbursement for securing our spot in the offer.

We ended up touring this resort, an RCI property, for three hours in 107-degree weather, which was extremely taxing for my significant other given his heart condition. When we informed them that we couldn’t afford the $32,990 timeshare they were trying to sell us, the demeanor of the person showing us around changed drastically. He became rude and pushy, despite the initial assurance that there was no obligation to buy.

Eventually, we managed to leave without purchasing anything, but the entire “promotion” felt like a scam. They lied about it being the last day for “closed out deals” and became aggressive when we declined to buy. The so-called “promotional gifts” turned out to be nearly worthless, as the vouchers could only be used on a few specific machines at Casino Royale, which required hitting a jackpot to win anything.

This experience was incredibly frustrating and detrimental to my significant other’s health. The company seemed more interested in conning us into a sale than in providing a genuine promotion. I strongly advise against engaging with this company, as they appear to be exploiting people to sell their properties.

DO NOT SPEND YOU MONEY HERE

I just received notice that the resort we booked through RCI has closed its Lodge, arcade, indoor pool, and spa for renovations. However, RCI will not let us cancel and rebook a different location without losing our $300 exchange fee. No wonder RCI has one of the lowest, if not the lowest, rating in the travel industry.

Scammers. They take the money and run.

Scammers. If I could give 0 stars I'd have done so.

We'd been members of RCI for many years - and when we used it, we were happy with exchanges even though prices had gone up so it was getting expensive. We'd banked our timeshare week but because of Covid lost weeks. C'est la vie. But post Covid we started to use our timeshare weeks. Last year we booked and had a great holiday in Scotland. What we didn't realise is that we only had 12 points left for last year but 20 for the most recent year and the Scotland holiday cost 19 points. When I wanted to book this year, we had only 1 point left. The 12 points had expired and they'd stolen the 19 from this year. So nothing left.

After what we'd paid them we'd have thought they would have warned us we'd lose both or to combine. But no - they take our money and run.

Gente con mala fed

Mi marido es socio de RCI mas de 20 años ya, tiene 1 semana al año en hotel cercano comprada por 10.000 euros en aquel entonces, paga una cuota añual de 400 y pico, y luego a la hora de realizar la reserva te cobran una cuota mas por no se que, esta vez ha sido 260 euros, en total un año te sale por 600-800 euros el lujo de pedirte un apartamiento de 2 habitaciones, donde te cabra tu familia grande. Comida no esta incluida, claro, solo alojamiento. Anualidad sale mucho mejor? Pues, no, en mejor caso 30% menos, en peor - igual que en booking. Estos apartamientos normalmente son mas descuidados, que los de venta libre por booking. Hemos ido un año a Marina Dor y podimos ver el apartamiento del vecino que iba por libre y el nuestro. Pero bueno, esto hemos soportado siempre +- bien.
Lo segundo que caye mal, es que en verano nunca habia intercambios, todo ocupadisimo, a no sea que te ocupas hacer la reserva en enero, este año 2024 quisa el primer año que veo bastantes intercambios disponibles en el agosto, quisa a Europa no quieren ir mucha gente por el tema ese con Rusia, no se, me supongo, porque antes de este año y otros 2 anteriores que no viajabamos con RCI en Europa estaba todo muy ocupadisimo. Estaba tan acostumbrada, que no hay nunca, que siempre pedia con booking. Y en RCI alguna vez en navidades, que no ha sido cada año, asi que los 600-800 euros "se queman para nada", por decir.
Y tercero, para el colmo, resulta que tienen muy mala gestion RCI y los propietarios de hoteles tienen todo el derecho de burlarte a ti, el cliente propietario de semana. Hemos tenido muy mala racha en la vida (hasta estar en rai en los bancos) y no hemos pagado cuotas durante 3 años (al igual que no pagemos ni IBI de nuestra propia casa durante 3 años!!!) Vamos, no pagamos, porque no podiamos, no por mala fed. Ahora que empezemos a ver la luz e ir cerrando deudas le hemos pagado al hotel estas coutas y...!!!!!....!!!!....!!! la chica nos esta dando larga y no nos "quita del rai de RCI" a proposito, le llamo cada dia porque he cogido el viaje y esta colgado en el limbo por su "ok", que tiene que dar y no da. Hasta que hoy me tuve que cancelar el viaje porque luego hacer esto me costaria dinero segun las condiciones de RCI. Que tal os parece? Leed su condiciones legales, alli segun estas ellos nunca tienen culpa de nada y no recompensaran en ninguna circunstancia. Menos mal que soy asi como soy, y me informo en profundidad del asunto, porque sino ellos siempre te cuelan. Pues, 260 euros no me han sido devueltos a mi tarjeta, no, han ingresado en mi SALDO VIRTUAL de RCI. Que os parece? Y esto que me tengo que gastar ahora en comprar vacaciones por boking. Esto es RCI!!!

En Diciembre del 2023 nos hicimos…

En Diciembre del 2023 nos hicimos socios en Mexico Destination Club (MDC) membresía que adquirimos en hotel Xcaret, la cual incluye el paquete de RCI. Apenas después de 7 meses decidimos usarla y apenas hoy (22 de julio 2024) pagamos una reservación para hospedarnos 7 noches, 7 personas en el hotel Hacienda del Mar en Los Cabos, BCS. La reserva nos salió en $638 usd por las 7 personas. Cotizamos en booking y la misma reserva en la misma habitación para las mismas fechas costaba $9600 usd. Aún no llega la fecha de llegada, pero hasta ahorita todo va marchando muy bonito de acuerdo a lo acordado. Hasta ahorita 5 estrellas por el servicio de Call Center, me atendió Guillermo Baez y muy buen servicio me ofreció. Daré mi opinión después del viaje nuevamente (después de semana santa 2025)

Very Bad experience with this company…

Very Bad experience with this company in Cancun Mexico. They showed us the lower rates of hotels that we can book through their package but never told us about the points we required to get the deal. gave us very wrong impression and we bought that package . When we tried to book our first vacation then they mentioned all the conditions that they never told in their demo . When we tried to reach someone to cancel our package nobody is responding . very irresponsive . Never ever go with this company name Playa Collection or RCI .

Disabled woman forced to violate HIPPA to Cxl

Disabled woman forced to violate HIPPA law in order to cancel service agreement. Then forced to sign another agreement or be placed for Collections. Then finally signed agreement after a loss of a family member and service dog. Then advised not accepted and placed with Collections. No deadline given. Horrible experience. Escalating matter to Corp Office and share my experience everywhere as much as possible.

Es una verdadera estafa te quieren convencer de algo que uno mismo ahorra esa plata y la pasa mejor viaja cuando quiere y a dónde quiere. No entiendo que necesidad de molestarte cuando estas de vacaciones y encima estafarte. Vayan a venderle espejitos de colores a los europeos que seguro ellos son lo que no compran. ESTAFA TOTAL

I WAS TALKED INTO SWAPPING MY HGVC POINTS TO RCI - I NOW HAVE 22000 POINTS, I HAVE PHONED NON STOP TO ASK WHERE I CAN USE THIS POINTS - BASICALLY NO WHERE! - I HAVE BEEN GIVEN OPTIONS FOR THE END 2025 AND INCLUSIVE HOLIDAYS END 2024 THAT WILL TAKE APPROX 4000 OF MY POINTS BUT CHARGE 1000'S OF DOLLARS ON TOP! I WANT TO SELL THIS POINTS BACK OR AT LEAST USE THEM! THE CRAIGENDARROCH SCOTLAND HAS AMPLE ROOMS BUT RCI POINTS ALLOW 2025 AS FIRST DATE AVAILABLE BUT ONLY FOR 1 WEEK AT A TIME! FRAUD AND SCAM THATS BEEN 100% LOSS IN MONEY AND STRESS

Atrocious

Atrocious - here in UK they are deceitful, deceptive and disgraceful to clients. Corporate thieves and operating doubtfully on the fringe of the law.
DO NOT invest or participate.

I agree with all the reviews with 1 star. Have been a member since 1982 and ever since Wyndham took over it’s been all downhill. My membership runs out the end of this year and will start using another trading company. You would think they would look at there ratings and realize that they are doing something wrong. Just another example of a large corporation taking advantage of the common folk.

RCI used to be a legitimate company…

RCI used to be a legitimate company with decent representatives, but that was twenty years ago. Over the years, the cost has risen but the quality and service have plummeted. The website has become so buggy that it is unusable. The availability of resorts with a kitchen has dwindled to miniscule. And the selection of resorts is a fraction of what it used to be.

But now, it's suddenly even worse! It's become a shameless sham.

They seem to be trying to compete with hotels.com via comparative prices, maybe a bit lower, but promoted as Exchange Plus! It cost me tens of thousands of dollars for the resort I bank with RCI, and then I pay annual fees on top of that, in order to have "the privilege" (?) of saving a couple of dollars on hotel stays? Really? And yet I have to give up RCI points and not accrue frequent traveler points, too?

Not only do I feel cheated, but deceived. The website won't let you filter out these "deals" in your listing, so you have to go through pages of this hype to find the real resorts. So now, if I want to see resorts in, say, Savannah, 99 out of 100 will be either these worthless "Plus!" hotels or resorts that RCI is pushing in Mexico or Punta Cana. That is, of course, if I can get the website to work.

I imagine that they defend this, claiming that it's "Plus!" and I can just ignore the scams. At least let me search for resorts - real ones, the kind I paid to see - without the bait. And I've seen their responses to other posts here and note that they like to pass the buck. I paid thousands of dollars additional to be in RCI Points, which means that RCI has a tight grip on anything I try to do, preventing me from migrating to their competitors. Essentially, I'm trapped.

What kind of absolute jerks are they to do this to their paying members?

I theorize that, since they've been bought out by them, Wyndham must have migrated the good resorts into their vacation program, leaving fewer decent ones for us. And maybe they aren't appealing to new resorts through RCI, only through Wyndham Vacations, leaving us holding the bag.

Wyndham certainly pushes their vacation program on us RCI members when we visit, but I'm not about to get scammed again. Besides, their vacation plan seems to be just another sack of high-priced promises.

Does anyone have experience with RCI's competitors so we can try an alternative?

I hate RCI…do NOT join if you have an option

Have been forced to be a member for over 15 years, as they are the only trading company my timeshare uses.
I have hated this company every year! Their software is beyond horrible and so far behind the times. Always frustrating. They only offer the same limited travel choices (locations AND hotels) over and over. Fees go up constantly. I am looking to get out of my timeshare contract so I can make RCI a very bad memory. There is nothing positive I can say about RCI.

Rude customer service received from…

Rude customer service received from RCI. Phoned today and spoke to a lady, to explain I hadn't received an email her colleague was due to send me the day before, the response was we will send it again. While this is what I needed, an acknowledgement or a sorry for not sending it when they said they would, would have been nice. Even when I pointed out an apology would be nice, still nothing other than a raised voice and a re stating that they would send it out again. The other companies involved in helping with my insurance claim due to a family bereavement, have been much more understanding and helpful.
