The experience has been really great since day 1. Our lettings consultant Sang, was very helpful, kind and on time at our appointments. The letting process was fast. They have a good web where I can see my payments, I can ask for repairs and ask for help.
I fully recommend Romans.

We put our house on the market at quite possibly the worst time in years, just as interest rates were rising but Matthew Leigh was very pro active in finding viewers for the property and within a month we had an offer. Very pleased with the service and Matthew was on hand with any queries, even when he was on holiday! Thank you 😊

James our move manager was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. Any questions we had he responded very promptly to and where chases required to solicitors he did this straight away multiple times nearly daily.
I don’t think we would have exchanged as quick as we did without the assistants of James. I would highly recommend Romans and James to assist in anyone trying to buy a property.

It was the first time renting, and Romans were great in taking us through the process from start to finish smoothly. Both Tim and Mark were very professional and punctual in their dealings with us and we were able to maximise our rental return.

If we could zero stars, we would!

Romans (Reading Town centre branch) let us a property (2 bed flat) with dangerously broken decking, a shower head that did not work, and broken blinds. We were told that this would all be fixed as soon as we moved in. 2 years later, we had enough of their games of passing us over from one agent to another and telling us endless stories of how things would get fixed once they heard from the landlord. The landlord turned up to the flat for 15 minutes and said he would tell Romans to fix it. Romans lay blame on him, and this went on and on. They were never fixed!!! Despite numerous calls and emails. We warned them that the damaged decking was fragile and was prone to more damage, but this fell on deaf ears. After moving out 3 weeks early! They sent us a bill stating that they want to take 90% of our deposit to fix the damage to the flat and an eye-watering cleaning bill of £500 for a flat that was already cleaned. We contacted a local clear who said the job was £40 maximum for a 2-hour clean. All our counteroffers were rejected, for no reason & they blamed us for not accessing their platform which was broken. We had to resort to sending them screenshots. All this, a complete waste of time and shockingly clearly seeming desperate to make money from good tenants (that paid every time and gave them 3 weeks to show other people around and lived with broken items). It is clear, that, they want this money to upgrade the flat.
This damage was a) mostly their fault b) if caused by us then it was minor wear and tear c) they had people in and out viewing the flat for 3 whole weeks before they sent us this check-out bill.
I would never recommend them. Be aware of using them, they are unprofessional, unresponsive, unethical, and extortionate.

We contacted number of letting agents and Companies. Some not responded at all or just make our moving hard. Finally we meet Romans Letting Reading and through their system we moved to new house just in few days. Easy, non complicated guide system, we also visited office to pickup keys, have had additional question about advice of later house purchase and mortgage. Every-time we meet helpful professional people who know their job. Special thanks to Sang and Kimberley.

Been treated very rudely over phone as we were on holiday for 10 days after a viewing and putting our offer .. we kept explaining our situation that we are on holidays and will be back but this person named Adam Colvim kept calling and pestering inspite of us explaining him so many times and finally asked us to never call again ???? Is this the kind of customer service you offer, do you not understand someone’s personal space .. we would take this bigger as we have call recording on the phone and make a formal complaint .. sad to see such behaviour

Roamns approach has been professional and I am quite happy with their services so far in my two month of engaugement with them. Specially I am very happy with their agent Mr Mark Porter who has been very helpfull to me in puting me in right track of doing things correctly. Romans in Market Place, Reading made the selling of our home very straightforward indeed. All the staff we have dealt with have been friendly, professional and efficient. Their recommended solicitors have been very good. Would certainly recommend them

I have had an exceptional experience with the Romans and their support has been fantastic.

It was a great experience to get in touch with Romans Reading. They deliver excellent service to us. And especially our property manager Kimberley Garcia Jones, she always give us a great help!

Pros:
1. Good communication
2. Generally nice staff
3. Decent maintenance team

Cons:
1. I was threatened that I'd lose the flat if I opted out of no deposit option
2. Their no deposit option is essentially a scam - expensive with no real benefit (even a payday loan would've been cheaper), and takes away your legal protection from the government's deposit protection schemes
3. For disputes, they charge £120 for their third party adjudicator - which would've been illegal under any deposit protection scheme, but they get away with it due to point 2 above
4. The "third party adjudicator" is actually a private company that acts in the interest of the letting agent (just look at reviews for "Property Redress" - formerly HF Resolution Ltd)
5. They charge incredibly inflated rates - I was charged £300 for a light clean of a 1 bed flat, they refused to negotiate and there's no means to dispute it fairly as mentioned above

I've dealt with a number of letting agencies, both as landlord and as tenant, and Romans are truly one of the worst I've come across. The sort of agency that consistently operates in the grey area of the Trading Standards. Avoid if you can.

Romans have delivered an incredible service in helping us find a house. It was the excellent reputation that made us choose Romans, and they did not disappoint in any way.

Everything went very smoothly. We want to express our appreciation for the way you took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for and for the great communication. It made all the difference.

Nathan Stevens is a fantastic Property Manager. He managed to help completely re-furbish our house at a time when it is very difficult to get contractors. He is also very good at co-ordinating between the different departments in Romans which tend to get separated in the process. He basically made a project work well that could have been very difficult. Thank you!

This review is left specifically for my property manager Nathan Stevens who has been taking care of my property in Reading. Nathan is fantastic and everything you would want in a property manager. He is thoughtful, approachable, efficient, professional but also understands I am a human being.
I have had so many bad experiences with block managers and property managers in the past, but Nathan truly stands out from the crowd as genuinely caring about me and my property and delivering the highest service I could expect.
My property is fully managed but Nathan ensures that I am kept fully up to date on any issues or needs. At the same time, I know if I leave Nathan to deal with an issue, he will do so in a timely and effective manner with both mine and my tenants' interests at heart.
I hope Nathan is my property manager for a long time to come!

We rented an apartment in RG1 8AQ from 30-Nov 21 to 31-Mar 23. We paid Romans rent for 16 months and when returning the deposit they deducted 2 days of rent for 30-31 Mar'23, which is cheating and loot. I had a lengthy telephonic discussion with my relationship manager, trying to convince him that we are due to pay only one day's rent i.e. 30-Nov 21. Assume we had rented the property from 01-Dec 21 then we wouldn't be due any rent as we paid 16 months of rent. So clearly we were due for only one day's rent, for 30-Nov 21. But Romans won't understand and insisted we pay two days rent, that too for two days in March 23 when the rent was higher than the rent at which we started in Nov 21. If they were a honest company they should have taken one day's rent at the beginning of our stay and then say that now on your rent will be month on month from 01-Dec 21. It's a clear case of loot.
