Nice looking hob but that’s it. I have never had a more annoying hob ever. When a tiny amount of water touches the surface it start to beep. You wipe it but it continues to beep until it’s super dry then you have to restart the hob. Sometime if oil splatters up or a droplet of boiling water touches the surface it can cha be the setting from 3 to highest number 9. Really dangerous and you can’t leave the kitchen…

2 star for the fact that it looks pretty and it was inexpensive, otherwise i would have given a 1 star, the touchscreen is terrible it drives me crazy, i hate it so much!

I asked for a copy of the user guide for my hob. The company does not make it available on the internet. A month later they have yet to reply to my request.

We asked the builder for a Westinghouse hotplate (which we'd had in our last house and was great) and ended up with one of these. As mentioned by others, it is hyper sensitive and turns off if something boils over, then is bloody hard to start again! Top temp doesn't brown things and if you leave a smear on it after wiping, it beeps at you! Hate it!

It has a function that´s supposed to warn the user if something has been put directly on the interface and then the heat is turned down/off. This is good since it has some sort of touch screen, but this function is just absolutely ridiculously sensitive. I can barely cook anything on it, since the stove insists on turning itself off. If half a droplet of water or cooking grease or God forbid a speck of dust get on the interface, that function is activated and the stove turned off. And then it makes a beep beep noise until either the thing that covered the interface has been moved, or (if there was only dust or a drop of water) the whole stove has been drenched in water and wiped clean (since it apparently can´t detect that something as small as half a drop of oils has been removed). Sometimes not even the drenching thing helps and I have to just let the stove beep until it stops (up to 10 minutes).

And yes, it´s really difficult to unlock once locked (it self locks after beeping).

I have an induction hob from Schott Ceran model N53TD40N0. There are a few good things about it but some *very bad* things that any future buyer should consider.

First the good. It can heat up a saucepan of water very quickly and the hob surface is easy to clean.

Now the bad. The interface in TERRIBLE. I find myself swearing at the designer who made this hob nearly every other day. I am sure s/he does not have this product in his/her own home. Here is why...

1. It requires several key presses to change the heating power. If you have a saucepan about to boil over you haven't got time to be pressing several buttons.

2. If you have wet fingers, it doesn't pick up your key presses. So again the saucepan is boiling over and you cannot turn down the heat.

3. (related to point 1) It requires you to press a button to say which hob (front or back) *every* time you want to adjust the heat. If I'm only using one hob, you can safely assume that it's the one I want to adjust. Nope, Schott Ceran needs extra completely unnecessary keypresses while that saucepan is about to boil over.

4. There is an on-board timer which is useful to time how long your pan has been cooking. Now if a saucepan is about to boil over, I hit the power off button (this is the only way to cut heat with a single keypress). This resets the timer and now you have no idea how long it has been cooking. Using the onboard timer is just not reliable.

I hope this gives an insight into how this item could be very good but is completely spoiled by a terrible interface.

To any potential buyer, I recommend studying how the interface works before committing to the purchase. You may spend a long time regretting this choice.
