Booked seats then cancelled train…

Booked seats then cancelled train refund requested email response with link to populate claim form unable to complete claim form as it needs ticket numbers that are not available when refund is in process! No contact numbers to call definitely won’t use this service again! 198 pound out of pocket so progressing the claim through Amex who were really helpful. Tip use Trainline awesome service really helpful and understanding

Typical response below went out or sent out?? That also wasn’t explained through the email refund requested! Absolute joke!

Hi Stephen, you can access your ticket information from the booking confirmation email we went out at the time of booking. Or you can cancel the refund request in the app which will unlock the tickets.

When applying for a refund via the claim form, this is not linked to the app and this won't impact your application/refund.

Great experience

First time i have use the app and was delighted with the outcome. Traveling back home on a train for three and a half hours in comfort for next to nothing. Food and drink also supplied which made the journey home even better. Will definitely do this again.

Having been first timers.

Having been first timers the excitement of the unseen auction and being lucky to get the first class tickets it was perfect. Straight forward app. with easy to understand guidelines everything was straightforward, thank you.

I won…only I didn’t!

I was the winning bid this morning and watched the clock time down and was still the winning bid. Then 30 seconds later told I had lost auction…how?!!!

I have had only two upgrades since joining last year and paid quite a lot but since then nothing. This does look more and more dubious especially when reading some of the other reviews.

I am concerned LNER endorse this as I need to use their services.

I have read the complaints process but this takes 2 weeks so what is the point!

I have one more auction for my return but feel this will also go the way others have described.

To make the service better explain why a winning bid becomes a losing bid even when you were the last bid standing. Be honest about the likelihood of success if you don’t travel from a central station and join on a smaller one.

I am disappointed by my experience and will update IF my final auction goes the same way.

Great app

Great app, makes a huge difference when you get several trains a month. Easy to use, quick refunds for cancelled trains. 10/10 recommend.

Useless tried to set up on phone come out to email to get code. Go back into app and have to start again so np way of logging in.

Having seen the Seatfrog app I…

Having seen the Seatfrog app I mentioned it to my niece and her partner who used it and got an upgrade. What I would like to know is were they privy to a First Class service as they were refused tea, coffee etc whilst in first class seats. Their train was then terminated unexpectedly and first class seats were not allowed on the continued journey . I don’t know if these terms are in your small print but it might be a good idea if they were.

Mislead on Instant Upgrade Option

Mislead on Instant Upgrade for 1st class tickets from Birmingham to Reading.
We thought we were putting in a bid of £15 + £3 each for 2 guaranteed ticket upgrades (i.e. £36 total for 2 upgrades).
We were instantly charged £84!
Completely baffled and service team offered no explanation and refused to refund excess amount.

Misleading

I had an auction in mind for a few days time. The app said there were 7 seats available as instant wins, and I placed my opening bid for when the auction opened.

Later on I decided I’d rather solidify my plans and buy the ticket. The bid was still showing, 7 instant wins were still showing, I clcked the buy now button… and got a message to say they were unable to fulfil the order as no tickets were available. I did this for all trains on the day I wanted to travel. One by one, sold out. Previously all shown as starting soon.

The journeys I tried to buy an instant upgrade for are now showing as “unavailable” on the main page, so I’m guessing there will be no auction at all.

Is this not something they can check? I understand that it’s a busier time of year, and that if there’s no availability there’s no availability. But why do I need to commit to buying and enter credit card details before they bother to check if they actually have the product they say they’re selling?

Watch the bidding process - I was automatically entered into a different journey

have explained explicitly what happened -

I bid for a King’s Cross to Newcastle journey , I clicked on view the Newcastle journey to Kings Cross, the system asked me to confirm “got it” that I could purchase seats for tickets generally. It then entered me in an auction for a journey I was viewing . It did NOT ask me to SUBMIT a BID.

I raised this issue with customer services PRIOR to my journey. No one responded , nor did anyone help me.

It’s not great customer service is it ?

I maintain this is what happened and I informed Seatfrog of what happened PRIOR to the journey .

Seatfrog have caused this issue and Seatfrog’s failure to respond has further added to the issues.

Update following Seat frog’s response - Seatfrog have failed to provide me with the audit logs showing my alleged BID despite asking several times. There are bugs on the App and I raised this complaint PRIOR to travel . Seatfrog did NOT respond

I understand your frustration, but I need to respectfully clarify how our bidding system works. It's actually not possible for the system to automatically enter you into an auction just by viewing it. The bidding process requires several deliberate steps:

Selecting a specific auction
Choosing your bid amount
Reviewing the journey details
Confirming on the payment screen
Accepting a final in-app confirmation

Each of these steps requires active confirmation, and there's no way to accidentally place a bid just by viewing an auction or clicking "got it" on general information screens.

I apologise if our team wasn't able to respond to your initial inquiry before your journey.

Awful!

Selected upgrade now !
Upon receiving the confirmation I noticed the upgrade was the following day, same train departure time etc. I cannot go back and check if that was the actual date I selected. I can only assume it was my input error.

4 weeks in advance of a journey they won’t offer a refund as they have to pay the train operator and cannot refund on the bar code.

£23.00 out of pocket and will never use this app again. Consumer rights don’t exist. I bought a service that I won’t be using .

…….2/2/2025 thanks for your response, I hope that the investors behind the company never make a mistake ordering products or never get to use a service they have paid for. Your website should be clear that upgrade now purchases carry the same terms and conditions as the auction. It isn’t obvious. I only have your confirmation that I selected the incorrect date, I will have no way of knowing. Standing behind your terms and conditions on the auction stage of the process does not make it right. Scandalous.

Very reliable and great customer service

I thought I had a problem with seatfrog not sending me paid ticket, but turned out it was cancelled by mistake in multiple train journeys booked. Vanessa was brilliant in solving all to our convenience. Many thanks.
