A brilliant learning platform for anyone in digital marketing

I’ve been a subscribed user of Smart Insights since 2018 and continue to find it incredibly valuable. I first came across it while studying for my CIM Digital Marketing qualification — Dave Chaffey’s textbooks introduced the theory, and Smart Insights builds on that perfectly with practical, up-to-date guides and tools.

The learning pathways and capability grader are my favourite features. They make it easy to see where I’m currently at and what I can do to improve, with direct access to relevant learning materials across every area of digital marketing.

My team also have individual logins, which we use to upskill and stay on top of the latest trends — plus, it counts towards our CPD! Our account manager, Claudine, has been fantastic, always checking in to make sure we’re getting the most out of the platform.

I’d absolutely recommend Smart Insights to anyone looking to grow their digital marketing skills at their own pace. It’s a brilliant mix of structure, flexibility, and expert insight.

unethical business parctices

This company can not be trusted. One of the worst companies I have done business with. So hard to use and make it so difficult to cancel the subscription. But they are very happy to charge you every year. They refused to refund even though I cancelled 2 years ago. No cancel button, not easy at all to cancel.

You signed up for membership on August 15th 2023, just over two years ago.

Your account has renewed twice since then, in August 2024 and just recently on the 15th August 2025.

When you contacted us you said you tried to cancel this 1 year ago, but in this review you say you did 2 years ago, which would have been just after you signed up in 2023. We do not have a record of you cancelling, or any communication from you until yesterday.

The first time we can see you've contacted us requesting a cancellation was on the 1st September 2025 - 16 days after your account renewed for this year.

We did ask if you could send us the cancellation request you made previously, just in case of any issues on our side, but you didn't respond to this request. If you do have this please let us know and we'd be very happy to assist you further.

nothing works properly

the progress is not loading as it should, pages crash down very often and after the whole module needs to be retaken, takes a long time to load etc. very expensive considering the poor functionality

This Company has poor credibility

This Company has poor credibility. Smart Insights is selling a product with NO trial period and wanted a contract to purchase the yearly subscription. I have No idea about the product offer except a few slides on the demo appointment that was inconclusive. I informed Smart Insights had NO SEO software nor expressed any processes to handle Google Matrix. SI must be fit for purpose. SI had made an offer on 21 April 2024 with a 57% reduction, which I claimed prior the offer was over after a day. Ms Claudine Edgcumbe said SI had no record of this. Ms Claudine Edgcumbe, wrote to me on 21 May 2024 stating that she had discussed with her CEO that my enquiry would not be entertained any more and post a demo (which was nothing) was appropriate. SI stated that my file was closed but we only exchanged emails. SI and Ms Edgcumbe had been very disingenuous with SI sales and product offerings via incognito methods Selling on the internet - one has to be careful and make substantial enquiries and references b4 a Contract is signed as other Trust P reviews had complained on this site. IS did not have the "acumen" to answer my professional queries in a respectable manner inferring poor product offerings costing £97+vat/month for a 70% product only (whatever that means)and £1,500 +Vat for a one year agency subscription. SI seemed a suitable product I wanted but I was frustrated by the poor Sales Attitude by Ms Claudine Edgcumbe writing emails that I am not a fit to SI business Offerings. HAHAHA

We answered all of the queries you made, and explained that our platform is predominantly do it yourself online training. It is not software, so can’t do your SEO or Google work for you, but it can teach you how to do those things yourself.

The offer you saw was for Starter membership, was available as a flash sale and could have been purchased directly on the site while this sale was on. Your enquiry was about our highest level - Professional Membership, which did not have this offer.

I’m unsure exactly what some of your other issues are, as CEO I read the full, lengthy email thread with Claudine today in which she tried many times to understand and to answer your questions.

Ultimately I’m afraid we’re just not a fit for what you’re looking for, which is what Claudine explained in her final email to you today.

We do of course wish you all the best in finding a solution that better fits your needs.

All you need

For the first time, I used the SmartInsights platform in 2018. I established a company, and I almost didn't know anything about marketing but also had no time to learn. I loved the condensed format of the resources.
I returned to SmartIsights last year because I needed to have up-to-date information in the marketing field and to give an instrument to a marketing person. A great resource - highly recommended!

Great Marketing Resource - no matter what stage

Smart Insights were one of the prominent digital marketing brands when I first began my career, and they still provide great resources today. No matter what stage you are at, there is great advice and support from even the most casual visit to their website. Recommend catching one of their webinars too if you get the chance.

Fabulous customer service and onboarding experience

I met with Claudine from Smart Insights to find out about how the software could help us as a business. Right away, I could hear how passionate she was about the platform, (particularly since it was so early for her - different timezones!). I came in feeling unsure about whether Smart Insights would align with our business, and came away feeling excited and inspired for the future. I signed up almost immediately, and Claudine had us all set up in no time. Absolutely fabulous experience.

Great Smart Insights Summit

Attended the Smart Insights summit yesterday and found it very helpful. Amelia was an excellent presenter and provided lots of tips to improve my personal development. The Smart Insights website is invaluable in progressing my knowledge and providing me with fresh ideas.

Good content, shady business practices

First and foremost good content and tools to help you on your digital journey. Role descriptions and reporting templates for example were very helpful. Full transparency I’m out US$3,000 because I didn’t provide the 90 notice to cancel and as a (now) sole trader that’s a difficult expense to swallow.

This 2 star rating reflects my experience trying to cancel. I cancelled before the subscription was due to renew, but it was not within their 90 day notice window. And yes that is on me - PRO TIP set a reminder calendar invite 120 days out from your renewal date so you can review your membership and if you want to cancel you can give them plenty of notice. They won’t send you a reminder or an invoice, they won’t proactively call you as a customer to gauge your feedback - it’s almost as if they want that 90 day notice period to go by as quietly as possible.

So yes helpful resources, but set that renewal reminder because they certainly won’t remind you!

You can't cancel your subscription.

It's an awful experience when you want to cancel their subscription. They don't answer your emails and you can't cancel via the platform directly.
When you want to buy something, they are very quick to respond. Even the CEO helps you personally.
The information on the platform is not bad, but not of great value either.

Update: meanwhile our account has been cancelled by a very helpful gentleman of their sales team.
Their reply below is not correct, we've directed our cancellation request to the correct support email address multiple times.

Just a quick update - we've checked again with our support ticketing provider, and as you replied to a closed support ticket conversation you had over a year ago in April 2021 with a specific member of our team, your cancellation communication did not reach our support team. Love the content but they need to hire


Love the content but they need to hire better sales people. I had a horrible experience dealing with a very pushy sales person that is willing to ruin the reputation of a great company over a few hundred dollars. Threatening a potential life long customers with legal action is just not something you should be doing.
