The whole experience from start to


The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. From the office administrator, the surveyor and most of all the installers were excellent. I was kept informed at every stage. Overall the quality of service and workmanship has been excellent and I would thoroughly recommend the Loft Boys.

Great service from start to finish

Great service from start to finish, the estimator was courteous and covered all points off and the three fitters Joe, Matt and Tom were professional, clean and tidy.

Missed appointments, then cancelled

We contacted the loft boys in May to get a quote for a new loft hatch, to fix ventilation issues in the loft and to install a vent tile. A surveyor came out, took some measurements and sent a partial quote. Time passed. We asked for a full quote, the surveyor said he needed to come out again. An appointment was made, but noone showed up. Another appointment was made, about 30 minutes before the appointment time we received an email saying they had declined the job.

Aside from wasting 2 months during which the mould issues in our loft can only have got worse, I understand that one of the reasons for the lack of ventilation is due to loft insulation erroneously packed into the eaves. Who did the loft insulation install originally in 2016? The Loft Boys.

We’ve only recently begun using Trustpilot properly, so apologies for the very late reply — but we still wanted to acknowledge your review.

We’re genuinely sorry for the frustration you experienced back in 2023. Missed or late-cancelled appointments aren’t the standard we work to, and we can only apologise for the inconvenience caused while the team were reviewing whether the work fell within our scope.

To clarify the history: we installed your insulation back in 2015 and also carried out a small remedial visit in 2020 to fix a ladder issue, with no concerns raised at either point about ventilation or mould. Nothing was flagged during the 2023 hatch work either (as far as we've been able to ascertain), so the issue you later discovered wasn’t visible to us at the time.

Regarding the insulation in the eaves — industry best practice has evolved over the years, but insulation alone isn’t usually the sole cause of ventilation problems. Condensation typically results from a combination of factors such as roof structure, airflow, and general moisture levels within the home. We certainly wouldn’t want to give the impression that a single element explains everything.

The reason the job was ultimately declined was the request for an air-vent roof tile installation. This is a specialist roofing task, and we felt it wouldn’t be appropriate or responsible to take on work outside our expertise.

We’re sorry the process caused delays for you — that’s not how we aim to operate. If you ever need anything within our core services, we’re always happy to help and provide clear guidance from the outset.
