VLC is no longer the reliable choice.... it crashes a lot and when it does, there are times you can't even kill the process anymore using task manager. Total crap

Worst software in history. After over a decade they still havent managed to make the pause and play function work, nor the scrub function. When casting, you always have to begin from the start if you need to pause the movie, so you need to memorize where you were watching BEFORE you press pause.

VLC video editor is rated the best by so many reviewers and I don't know why. I have tried in vain to run it on my MacBook Pro M1 chip computer. It loads and it certainly plays my mp4 videos. But that's where it ends. To cut and edit, it says to click on "tools" on the menu bar - but there is 'tools' item on my menu bar. I searched the web and found the answer from VLC - Click 'show all' under VLC logo - BUT that item is greyed out. I searched the web and found a lot of nonsensical replies that were useless. No one, including VLC can tell me how to click 'show all; that is greyed out or to find tools on the menu bar. Judging from other reviews, it appears that 'the best in the category' assessment is ancient history on versions that no longer exist.k If it at least came with a decent how to use manual, that would help - but it doesn't - it's mostly a case of 'figure it out and good luck!'

Dunno whats happened, but VLC used to be the goto app for media. Now it just stops and starts every few seconds, even playing from my SSD. Removed. Shame. At lease Windows media player works

I just re-downloaded VLC media player because Microsoft had done its usual updates things and deactivated it as the default media player. I've been using VLC for years and it far exceeds Windows Media Player in simple usability, I love it - until now. They've totally changed it. I cannot get it to ACTUALLY PLAY a single thing. WHY ? What on earth have they done to it? It seems to be just obsessed with finding pre-defined "video" or "music" folders or something - I've no idea what and I'm not wasting any more time finding out. Bye bye VLC.

I have used continually updated versions of VLC for Mac over the past 15 years. It always worked great, until it didn't. I had downloaded and was using VLC 3.0.17 for Mac OS 10.13.6 for several months, until last year it just suddenly stopped opening videos (.mp4) files. I tried re-loading the software, to no avail (Mac scans the software, and upon trying to open, the VLC app crashes). I tried contacting VLC for troubleshooting or guidance, but the company has the most arcane customer service possible, and while I got a couple email replies about this issue, in the end, the support person merely claimed that VLC works fine on Mac OSX. Well, it doesn't, and while I appreciate being able to continue using older versions, I find the lack of technological assistance from VLC astounding, considering the website is now pleading for financial support. I'd be happy to pay to support VLC, but the company needs to demonstrate they have a product that works, and if it doesn't, then they will provide the means to correct operational problems.

j'utilise occasionellement vlc 3.0.06 vetirani et je n'arrive pas à concatener deux fichiers mp4 ????
Je ne suis pas particulierement un blaireau d'utilisateur, mais je n'aime pas chercher la soultion plus de 2 minutes; sachant que j'ai travaillé dans le domaine de la video et que je connais un contributeur vlc DC.

I have been using VLC for videos and quick music playlists and it was amazing!
However the latest version with its new interface is terrible!
I used to be able to grab a folder of my already organised music and make a playlist, then drag and drop other songs...
They have removed this feature and now it wants to copy all my music into its own pointless library!
I dont want 2x Music copies of 500gb of music files!
absolutely gutted they have broken a perfect peice of software! :(

Full screen not possible! The windows taskbar dont go away. If i set windows to hide it, i get white line under screen.

VLC media player is genial and I think well recognized in the informatic community. Sometimes I am wondering how they can earn money as long as they are not a profit based enterprise. Anyway, I hope that this user-friendly and advanced technological software could be an example for future enterprise in the informatic field.

Excellent. The bad reviews on here are very suprising.

I am a small youtuber and the site I use for editing didn't work and I found out why. So I looked up how to fix it. Everyone was talking about this app and how "great" it was. Well over 10 HOURS of footage (Yes you heard that right) got corrupted trying to fix my footage. I have MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) and angry me wasn't having it. I broke a lamp, and my keyboard. I won't use this app ever again.

I have been using VLC for the last 10 years and no other media player has ever come close to delivering the performance that VLC has provided. Apart from the performance it is so lightweight that it can work easily on a dusty 5 year old computer with same efficiency as on any latest computer.

doesnt work for me either, used to be excellent but last two versions seem to fail to play a lot of files
