They were able to come out quick and offered a draft report 2 days later. They offered a telephone call for a verbal handover on the day but I felt they could have gone into further detail/clarification during the call, but when the report came through later, it was very comprehensive and self explanatory. Even though the scoring of the property was ok in the report, they still made a comment that there are works required and suggested I should reduce my price which was helpful for me when I went back to my seller asking for a discount. They were also very affordable in comparison to the others. This is the second time I have interacted with building surveyors in general and I will likely return to west side next time I need a survey. I don’t have any regrets having paid less than what others were asking for as I feel that I have a good idea of the property I am buying.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I had the worst experience with them. Yes, booking them in went smoothly but my survey that was carried out was not done thoroughly. The surveyor took photos and checked a few walls, sent me the report back and everything seemed pretty standard/satisfactory. I purchased the property and it was infested with damp and mould. My wall collapsed within a month of purchase. When investigated further the surveyor hadn't even bothered to check the tank room or the ceilings! This is the one place that holds the most water and he hadn't even bothered to look in it. I had specific requests and they were not even looked at! this is the basic. Even after I contacted the agency there was no solution. The response was lazy. I was told " the surveyor doesn't look any further if a cupboard is full" absolutely appalling! It's very obvious there had been several leaks prior to buying this place but no mention of that. I am now stuck with this property that has mould and damp everywhere, my sink taps that have no water pressure and also the potential of not being able to sell my property! I say do yourself a favour and problems, STAY AWAY! I'm absolutely livid with the outcome, my purchase was reliant on this survey and now I'm faced with all these issues I could've avoided . what the hell did I pay £250 for?!!!! I’ll have to now take legal action against them.

The company seems to have clear systems and procedures which enable professional support and advice. They’re fees feel reasonable for the detail expected in the RICS reports. Very straight forward process.

Westside Services provided a comprehensive Level 3 building survey report and were very responsive to my follow-up queries. However, they let themselves down by, 1) stating there was Artex in the property that might contain asbestos when, in fact, there was no Artex in any rooms of the house (I was later told this was included in the report in error, which was fair enough); and 2) stating the kitchen was, "constructed from chipboard carcass units, laminate chipboard worktops, a ceramic sink with mixer tap and laminate splashback" when they could've barely been more wrong in their assessment - the kitchen units were, in fact, solid wood and the worktops and splashbacks were granite. The surveyor apologised for these errors, however, he then compounded the mistake by stating query 2) was just "a typo". This was an annoying and unprofessional response to what was a glaring error, and it made me wonder what other glaring errors lurked in their report. Because of this, I would not recommend this company.

From the start of the process (initial requests for quotes and survey specifics) Casey was fully engaged and communicated with me promptly, in easy to understand language and with clear information. Once the survey was commissioned she kept me informed of activities. Our surveyor, Jamie, completed the survey, gave me an overview within days of the survey and attended a call to discuss findings.

The end to end process was painless, payments for services were easy to make and they shared 100+ high-res pictures taken during the survey.

Having read reviews of Westside Services when arranging a survey for a home we were hoping to purchase, we were not disappointed. The survey was arranged swiftly, completed to a very high standard with open communication afterwards allowing us to easily clarify some things we were unsure of. The surveyor called immediately after completing the survey to give us an overview of his findings and the full report was sent a few days later. This allowed us to be aware of the key points instantly so that when we received the detailed pdf, we knew where to focus most attention. I would recommend Westside Services to anybody in their catchment area. As well as all of the above, they were also the most competitively priced! Can't fault them at all.
