Worldmark Mission Valley insensitive Staff
This review is about Worldmark Mission Valley, San Diego. DO NOT plan to purchase amusement park tickets from the concierge desk because a string is attached that YOU MUST attend a sales presentation.
I called ahead of our arrival date to inquire if we should purchase our amusement park tickets prior to arrival and spoke with the Supervisor, Kaye, she said "oh no we will take care of it here", "I won't be here that day but I'll inform my staff and they will take special care of you". I told Kaye that it would be me, my wife, and our 3 year-old granddaughter.
When we arrived our granddaughter was asleep in her car seat and my wife went in to check-in and buy amusement park tickets, I stayed with the little one.
After awhile my wife returned flustered and annoyed having been coerced into signing up for a Sales Presentation (the next morning) as a condition of buying amusement park tickets.
We arrived at the appointed time with our granddaughter (mind you both spouses MUST attend and you MUST stay for the entire 60 minutes to receive the tickets that you've already paid for). The "desk" had no idea when the Zoo opened and could care less that we had a 3 year-old sitting through a 60 minute presentation. They also showed no appreaciation that if we did "buy something from them" that it would result in significantly more time that we would NOT be at the Zoo. After the boring and useless presentation we were issued our tickets and left. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PART OF OUR VACATION and all the Worldmark Staff cared about was that they did not make a sale.
Increased monthly payment, no notice.
Increased the required monthly payment for the "timeshare" (it's really just a subscription to visit their resorts very, very occasionally.) 1 or 2 minimal attempts to contact us were made (calls during the work day) which we're not in anyway distinguished from their other voicemails which are simply calls trying to sell you on a more expensive subscription. Because of this large-scale delinquency fee's were levied, interest accrued, and the account sent to a collections agency (all without us being aware at all) and it was only happenstance that one of the collections agency calls came through at a time to take the call, and luckily we decided it wasn't just a spam call. THEY DO NOT LEAVE MESSAGES! They won't attempt anything more than these spam-looking calls without voice mail or messages that you can look at determine what/who it is.
The collections agent with Aspen Collections (Ed Peirce) was a short-tempered, snide, irascible man who (likely due to distance) would pause in his insistences that contact efforts were up-to-standard (legally that might be correct, it looks like no one has to notify you of price changes or debt, they just have to collect from you. Don't ask me how that is just.) and when you would begin to speak because of the pause, he would shout at you that you weren't letting him speak, which he later just moved onto threatening with loss of contact (which I guess implies we'd have to pay via them pursuing legal action) even though the connection would be the only fault, and his temper over the connection (and assuming we we're interrupting him) were the issue.
Anyways, it appears to be really scummy, technically legal set of actions. But that's kind of been the Modus Operandi we've been witness to the entire time we've been "members". From fee increases, to changes without notice, to low return on investment, to endless solicitation, so on and so forth.
Save yourself thousands
Donât get them
Donât get them. Impossible to book. Very expensive to maintain. I am unable to book any thing for 2 years to poor website and a terrible customer service
I deeply regret getting involved withâŠ
I deeply regret getting involved with WorldMark by Wyndham. I was pressured into purchasing a timeshare contract in January 2025 after an aggressive, high-pressure sales presentation that made misleading claims about flexibility, availability, and value.
Since the purchase, Iâve found the credit system confusing and restrictive, the fees excessive, and booking availability nearly impossible. When I tried to cancel or surrender the contract, I was transferred, hung up on, and stonewalled multiple times. It felt like they were deliberately avoiding helping me resolve the situation.
Iâve filed complaints with the BBB and the California Attorney General, and Iâve initiated a chargeback with my credit card company. WorldMark has made it clear they are not interested in customer satisfaction â only in locking people into contracts they canât get out of.
Iâm posting this to warn others: Do not trust this company. Do not sign anything. If it sounds too good to be true, it is
Beware of timeshare sales and theâŠ
Beware of timeshare sales and the information they provide. they will manipulate you and not give you the facts. get everything they say in writing. I have had several bad experiences with Worldmark / Wyndham telling me stuff that is not true and ends up costing you a lot of money.
WorldMark is the worst
There are no properties available. Maybe, just maybe, properties will become available close to the time you want to be there, but that doesn't allow for planning in advance, e.g., vacation time, air fare, tickets to events. The time I've spent on the phone waiting for customer service is appalling. No one deserves this sort of bad service.
Wyndham Destroyed WorldMark We have been WorldMark owners forâŠ
We have been WorldMark owners for twenty+ years. WorldMark was our favorite of six different timeshare ownerships we had. Until it wasnât. Until Wyndham acquired WorkdMark and proceeded to degrade the WorldMark vacation experience. The upkeep, the amenities, the owner benefits have all continually declined at the WorldMark resorts since Wyndham took over, even though the maintenance fees keep increasing. Wyndham also acquired RCI. Not only am I unable to log into our WorldMark account since they completely changed the functionality of the website, but I can no longer log into our RCI account. WorkdMark supposedly was going to take steps to resolve my issue with their website, but they have failed and neglected to do so for the past two years. Our most recent stay at a WorldMark resort was in November 2024 but our issue with being unable to log in to our WorldMark account persists.
Wyndham has ruined WorldMark.
Sub par
Low quality resorts mostly. This is an outsiders perspective, as my wife purchased platinum rewards a long time ago and I just tag along to the various locations. Over the years Iâve seen quite a few WorldMark resorts and they are usually very much the same and some are poorly managed. They have the same equipment in most units so at least you know what to expect. The problem is that the equipment is usually the cheapest quality possible. Letâs take the dishwasher. We are currently staying in a unit in Arizona and despite it being functional it washes so poorly we have to run it 3-4 times to get things clean. Another issue is that you cannot book a particular room in most venues so sometimes you end up overlooking the parking lot.
Iâve calculated it once and for the money spent we could easily book 4 star hotel rooms, resorts, or AirBNB. Itâs really a suckers purchase (although Iâm not telling my wife that - I did share the calculation with her).
Another thing is the continuous pushing to attend their sales pitches. Iâve been to one (Iâm not an âOwnerâ) and refused to go after that. Itâs just a terrible experience to go through. We unplug the phone and donât answer the door as they keep on insisting.
From a hotel perspective itâs about 2 to 3 stars (there are some rare nice resorts, for example in Florida). But itâs not up to my standards generally and sometimes just pretty bad.
Another thing is that itâs not entirely my crowd. Just imagine Red Lion hotels. But thatâs just me personally. Yeah Iâm a little of a snob.
SCAMMERS!!!
SCAMMERS!!!! The timeshare sales people sell you on something completely different than what this program actually is. They are extremely pushy and we signed a âcontractâ while literally walking into an uber. When we tried to get out of this because we have been unable to use it apparently all of the lies from the salespeople and the hurried contract which said something different than what we were told by salespeople is now âimpossibleâ to get out of. The corporate lady was insanely unhelpful as well.
Do not purchase they are a scam
Do not purchase they are a scam. We have tried to book never available ! And to no avail now telling us itâs expired. WTH!!! No one told us we needed to book or else it expires. We paid over 6000$ and unable to use. Please donât get roped into booking anything. Buying any time share with them.
I have been a Worldmarktheclub ownerâŠ
I have been a Worldmarktheclub owner for almost 25 years. I intentionally only bought 7000 points because I could only afford to vacation every other year. Secondly, I personally did not like the quality of their resorts. BUT, the RCI trade availability has been fantastic. I have been able to trade and stay aT any resort I choose. Mostly Mexico and Hawaii and the Mexican resorts are clearly the best. I will be looking to buy more points, probably from a disgruntled owner once I retire.
Wyndham's first lie
Morning all, I'm Canadian with out an SSN#, before we signed with Wyndham contract, they told Myself and my wife that we were, approved for the Visa card and it would arrive, in the mail ,within 10 business days? This lie gives Wyndham, an way to stop people like Canadian, from getting out of the contract within their 7 day cancellation period. Beware Greg G
***DO NO BUY*****I bought thisâŠ
***DO NO BUY*****I bought this timeshare to spend time with my daughter and to own something for when I have grandchildren. They talked me into buying more shares stating that when my daughter was to inherit it she would be able to use points to cover the cost of the maintenance fees. This all sounded great except they went back on the promise of being able to use the points for the maintenance fees. I still would have continued paying except when I went on a vacation I had to go into an hour presentation where they asked me if I wanted to buy more points. Now let's be honest I already was in debt for $70,000 I didn't need to buy any more points. They ran my credit anyways without my consent and when my credit came back and said I didn't qualify, the man started being so rude to me and told me he was done with the presentation and he walked away. I didn't understand what was happening until after I left and I saw that they ran my credit for $100,000. I was a single mom how could I possibly afford $170,000 for a timeshare when I already had a home I was paying a mortgage on. I called them and asked to get out of my timeshare because I don't want to go and be treated like garbage just because I cannot buy more points. Don't make the same mistake I did because now my credit is so bad because I refuse to pay it and they won't take it back. I mean they're not out anything I paid on it for 3 years they got about 24,000 from me and can now resell those points at even more money. so they're not out anything. My few little vacations did not cost them $24,000.
Worldmark and Wyndam fraud
I had an early Worldmark timeshare contract that explicitly stated that it was a No Housekeeping Contract. We donât live on the west coast anymore so we decided to sell our contract. The titles and Contracts organization within Worldmark or Wyndham issued a written confirmation that the original contract was indeed a NHK fee contract. Upon selling the contract, the NHK fee contractually remains with the transfer to the new owner. My contract was sold and transferred in Oct 2024. The purchaser has not received the same number of credits and the annotation that it is a NHK fee contract. The contracts and title organization said it was a problem because they issue a new contract number and their pathetic computer system they developed doesnât recognize it. They said which is documented in writing that they will hand write a N on the new contract keeping the NHK fee intact. They have created a fraudulent act costing me money, lying multiple times and are slow to never resolve. The documentation I have is clear and I will be seeking an attorney
Incompetent management, no improvement to known website issues for now 3 years.
We have been able to make this timeshare work for us, but it has been anything but easy. A number of years ago, Wyndham bought Worldmark, and requested we all upgrade, meaning more purchase. We have not done that, and of course are treated like step children.
About 3 years ago, they "upgraded" the reservation system, and it has not worked since. Again this year, same problems. Availability is not shown, or when it is shown, many times attempting to make a reservation returns with a message "no availability". If we call, we are told, and have been told for the 3 years, "sorry, we are aware of website issues". No improvement, now same problems we had booking 3 years ago.
If I could turn back time
There's a lot of things in my life i wish i could go back and re-do but not buying this timeshare when i was a young, dumb 22 year old would be in the top 3. Has been the biggest waste of money, maintenance fees continue to climb and for WHAT? I have stayed in some of the locations multiple times over the past two decades without any improvements or updates. Yes some of the resorts are very nice, like staying in a big 3 bedroom apartment but the amount of money you have to pay annually is not worth it and the harassment to sign up for the "owner updates" all the time either via constant phone calls or when you check in and have to go "get your parking pass" from the sales person who heavily pushes on you and then even calls you later once you're checked in to try and get you to come to the sales pitch. Paying extra to rent these rooms directly from owners, renting a house or even just getting a hotel or whatever - all worth it to avoid anything to do with a timeshare.
Disastrous Timeshare Experience â A Complete Waste of Money
I have had the unfortunate experience of working with this timeshare company for years, and I can confidently say that it has been nothing short of a scam. Rather than gaining the promised travel opportunities, weâve only lost money and time.
Despite investing over $80,000 into this timeshare, including more than 70,000 credits, every attempt to book a stay has been an absolute struggle. Their booking system, which their representatives constantly claim is easy and accessible, is anything but. The reality is that booking a trip is often an exhausting and frustrating process, with limited options available when and where we want to travel.
To make matters worse, the company is now transitioning to a new entity, Travel and Leisure, and is demanding an additional $30,000 investment in order to maintain access to resorts. If we donât comply, weâve been told our access will become even more restricted than it already is, effectively rendering our investment worthless.
At every meeting, the company touts large investments like a $16 million renovation of a single property. However, they fail to address the fundamental issueâwhat are they doing to make their properties accessible to loyal customers like us? The simple truth is that as a non-owner, I can book stays with better availability and at a far lower cost than as an owner in this system.
Itâs clear that this timeshare has been a terrible financial decision, and the companyâs practices are misleading at best. Itâs incredibly frustrating to see our hard-earned money go toward an investment that doesnât deliver on its promises. I would strongly advise anyone considering this company to think twice before making the same mistake we did.
Worst timeshare
I had a timeshare with them for over 10 years and it was the worst ever! Everytime I went to book something there was never anything available even 1 year out. Monthly fees went up every single year along with other charges. I would never want a timeshare from them again even if it was free. When you finally book something more fees are applied and when you on your vacation they bother you every day!!! Stay away from these timeshares. I'm so glad I was able to sell it.
I belave this is chould bbe clled Fraud
When you buy RCI through Worldmark by Wyndham. And each year they charge you for it year after year. One would believe that your name was on the TITLE. The first time I tried to use it I was Denied.Worldmark did not put my Name on the Title ! So RCI would not make reservations for me.
