Interesting Content: I love interactive Chinese where you can can click of the word to review the meaning

Dislikes:

User Interface: I am a web developer student and it feels like the website does not have an interactive display, feels like it is old and not appealing. UI is important when you want to attract customers like me.

No App Offline Support Problem: App is a trash, need to go to website to watch content. On Android, there is no such thing as review Vocabulary and Review Offline which is overlooked upon.
Can't import bulk vocabulary: I have tons of vocabulary created using an excel file and I want to import to this app. However, I can't do that, I need to find the word one by one and click "Add to my Vocabulary List". What a waste of time! Better to use Anki or Quizlet for that matter.

Blurry Videos: It is already 2024 and 8k resolution is on the rise. I am a visual learner, saving videos from YouTube with 480p quality is horrendous. This app just really focused on transcriptions, but not the quality of the videos, which is important for me to be engaged. Better to use Caption Pop as an alternative.

Yabla has so far provided an excellent site for me to refresh my current German language skills and the basis upon which to improve my command of the written and spoken word

It helps me to immerse in language and gives different ways to improve my ability to understand the colloquial
language from native speakers.
Yabla is very flexible. I can find videos corresponding to
my current level and step by step come to more complicated videos.

I recently did the 21 day video challenge that is a free enticement to subscribe to Yabla.com Spanish. I did not have a subscription at the time and had not heard about Yabla.com. I ran into it by surfing the internet for Spanish learning programs. Because of that 21-day challenge experience, I am a current subscriber to Yabla.com. (As an aside, I am 70 years old, retired, with a professional degree and license).

The caveat is that Yabla.com, was the next step I needed to move forward in understanding spoken Spanish and writing it. I had gotten A’s in the first three, computer-based courses in a local community college. It was all grammar basics and thorough. I dropped the fourth community college couse (Advanced Spanish) because it was not effective for reading, listening or speaking.

Without the grammar basics, for me I am not sure yabla.com would be working as well as it is. With the grammar basics behind me, Yabla.com, has helped me advance in listening, and writing. I still have problems with speaking but have gotten better from listening to the videos. I recently reconnected with an old friend who is a native Spanish speaker and we are going to chat in Spanish for 30 minutes a week by phone. Speaking with others or a teacher is an additional charge on Yabla (and News in Slow Spanish as well as Babble).

I have continued my subscription with Kwiziq to sharpen and reinforce my grammar skills.

Let me tell you my approach to learning on Yabla if you want to know more about my experience. If not, thanks for reading this far down.

I believe the 21-day challenge is intended to get the potential customer just to watch the video, and maybe try out one of the accompanying games and get a hang for how the program works. However. during that 21 days, I did a whole lot more than just watch the video.

I start by downloading the transcript and reading it in Spanish and English. I watch the video and then I do the warm-up games, and then watch the video again. I follow that by doing the remaining games. I find specifically helpful, the scribe and recall games.

The reason I find them helpful is because I learn phrases and ways of saying things in Spanish, that I had not learned in a year and a half of textbook grammar. Of course, doing the games build my Spanish vocabulary and listening skills.

Also, when the speaker in the video refers to a place, I go on the Internet, and look at travel videos for that location. So I’m learning geography also.

In order to do the 21 days of video in 21 days, I was spending up to 5 hours a day on one video, and I must confess towards the middle to end I ran out of steam. Tired of the pace I had set for myself, I just started to watch the videos - which I think is what yabla intended - but didn’t get as much out of them.

Now that I have a subscription, I spend about a week per video and am able to take it at a comfortable pace doing all the games, writing a new vocabulary list, keeping a Spanish journal to jot down a sentence or two with the new words and phrases and watch travel videos of places referred to in the Yabla videos.

I really look forward to doing about 2 hours of one video every morning, over a week’s time period. it’s amazing how much I have learned and reinforced grammar tenses.

All in all, I am extremely pleased with yabla.com and recommend it, provided you have the Spanish grammar basics down and a commitment to learn the language. As for speaking, I was still on my own until I reconnected with my native-Spanish speaking friend.

Easy to get comfortable with hearing the language

I really enjoy the videos and learning new vocabulary.

I'm unclear about what I paid for.. month?? or what? Yabla is extremely challenging for me but very instructive to my eye and ear. I search for the beginner videos and wish there were more. Repetition is important and so I want to keep up the challenge. What is Trustplot??

Great project with one slight criticism. Even the beginner level is a challenge for me. I guess I need to go slower than others in learning a foreign language.

I think that the Incorporated information is very useful; vocabulary, games, questions, translations etc. I have not been using Yabla too long and so have not explored it fully so my commentary is based on limited usage BUT I find myself having somewhat of a difficult time finding videos of great interest. This may be my individual problem, my limited area of interest or my lack of fully exploring what is available. In another month I should have a better assessment. Regards

Yabla made a huge difference in my listening comprehension. I've tried some alternatives to Yabla. Yabla is superior because I can select my fluency level, the content is short and the subtitles line up nicely with each cut of video. Also, I would highly recommend that anyone who uses Yabla to be sure to use the scribe game. I've found it to be a great way to tune my ear to pick out words in a conversation.

I like the variety of videos and the way they are set to allow the user adjust them. Yabla is tops when it comes to native speakers and an authentic experience in Italian, and I highly recommend it for users who want to learn or just refresh language skills. I love the site. I love the variety of videos and subjects. The exercises after each video are rather effective as well. The program is also very flexible but it would be nice to have a specific, designated path that learners can follow to achieve specific language levels.

Yabla is a great way to hear Spanish speakers converse and, with the help of their interactive assets, like games and drills, go through the repetition necessary to learn a language. I have used Yabla off and on for a decade and have been able to achieve a level of ability where I can confidently converse with Hispanic speakers and be understood and understand what they are saying.

Yabla French lacks interesting and high quality video content. Too many of the videos are grabbed directly from YouTube and lack slow speed and other important features. Much inferior to Yabla Italian which I've been using for years.

I love the short videos with vocabulary review. The short grammar lessons are great but I feel that it would be beneficial to students, to have a brief test with answers . One can then see if one understood the lesson.

Website and lessons are well constructed.

Yabla is an excellent resource for learning Mandarin. I'm a beginner and find the interactive Pinyin chart invaluable. The beginner videos are also easy to follow because they include the Pinyin and Chinese characters。

I love the reality of the conversations, the wide choice of topics and speakers and the games to help me practice after watching the videos! Well done, Yabla!!! I recommend Yabla to all my friends!

It is taught in the language I am learning. You have game and you can test yourself. I am just starting, so I don't have a lot of experience but so far I am very pleased.
