My experience with Yes Rentals in Queenstown was very disappointing.

Communication was extremely difficult. The staff member at reception was unable to clearly communicate in English, making it almost impossible to understand why my officially translated driver’s licence was not being accepted. I was initially pressured to pay for a translation through their own service, even though I had already provided an official translation. At that point, I did not understand the real issue and ended up paying for their translation service.

Only afterwards did she explain that she had not seen the official stamp on my translation. If she had asked me, I could have easily shown it. By the time I understood the problem, I had already been pushed into purchasing a new translation from their service. I could not request a refund, as she barely understood English, which made proper communication impossible. As a result, I ended up paying twice for a translation.

The car itself was fine, but the phone holder provided did not work.

Overall, the customer service was poor and the whole experience was frustrating. I would not use this rental company again.

Scamming business, dangerous car practically broken.

Friendly and helpful staff. Quick and easy pickup and drop off. We had a great little Toyota Aqua hybrid, which was cheap to run and didn’t miss a beat.

Very unwilling to help on the phone. Live Chat sends you around in circles and is a waste of time. On the phone they tell you to go to the website, on the website they say to call them where they tell me ambiguous answers and say that they “maybe” able to help when they know I needed urgent attention. Because I said I needed to know today, they said they can help if I send them through details of my licence and pick up/drop off, I followed their instructions and sent through an email with details as requested, only to be told on the phone once again that they can’t help, which was a real waste of my time, and by this point I just wanted to share my experience their team, but they kept trying to tell me they couldn’t assist with my booking rather than letting me share my experience. The systems and processes in place are ruining the whole customer experience. It seems like the people on the phone don’t care and don’t want to do any work, nor does it seem like they want to make the company any money. Only after saying I would share my feedback online did they actually tell me they could assist me, but by then it was too late. Disappointing they couldn’t offer the assistance I needed earlier. They later tried to request I take this rating down. Yet I still think it’s relevant, because I wanted to provide them with my feedback on my experience as a whole, instead they kept explaining things I was no longer requiring help for (like they have continued to do in their response to this rating). To reiterate, I wanted to share with them my experience and feedback, and they still (to this day) kept referring to their after hours policies. That’s not what I was rating you about!! I’m rating based off poor customer experience.

Really wish we had read some of these reviews, before hiring with this company on multiple occasions. Avoid using YES rentals at all cost. We are seeking legal action & advise from Consumer Guarantee & Fair trading Act protections.

Great service

Be careful booking this car rental! I had a very bad experience during my holiday. I paid double of amount when I arrived there as they don’t accept my booking online! I showed everything including the receipt but they didn’t accept it. Tried to contact the agent DiscoverCars but I don’t accept there explanation! I tried to get the refund but no refund at all!!! I paid $170 for a very old car!!! Very upset and it ruined our holiday!!!
